Chapter Text

“Hey, can I borrow a tank top?” Hinata asked. “I feel like we could be a similar size.”

Kageyama stared at him in disbelief. “I’m almost a foot taller than you.”

“Okay. Can I pleeease borrow one anyway?” Hinata pleaded with him.

“No. It won’t fit you.” Kageyama frowned.

Atsumu poked his head out of the bathroom, his toothbrush in his mouth. “I ‘ink ya ‘eed to ‘et yer clo’es ‘rom A’k’ou.”

“What?” Hinata frowned, not having understood a word of that.

Atsumu retreated back into the bathroom and spit into the sink. He came back out of the bathroom, holding his toothbrush in his hand now.

“I think ya need ta get yer clothes from Ankoku. Amongst other things. Like, all yer things.”

Oikawa, walking past them into the living room, nodded. “That’s the smartest thing you’ve said in…. Probably your whole life.”

“Hey!” Atsumu protested. He went back into the bathroom to wash and put away his toothbrush.

Kuroo emerged from the bathroom from behind Atsumu, adjusting his pants. “Seriously, Sho. You need to get your shit back. I’ve been saying this for weeks.” He walked past Hinata and Kageyama, making his way to the living room.

“I can’t!” Hinata protested, following him. Kageyama and Atsumu followed behind him.

“You can. Unless you’re scared.” Kageyama smirked.

“I am not scared. It’s just complicated.” Hinata pouted, crossing his arms.

“You’ve been here for, like, two months now.” Oikawa rolled his eyes, getting yogurt out of the fridge and setting it down next to his granola.

“It’s just, that stuff was ours. It was ours and if I get them..” Hinata's eyes started filling up with tears. Kageyama heaved a sigh, earning him a dirty look from Kuroo.

Atsumu grabbed his basketball that was resting on the kitchen island and threw it at him in an attempt to distract him. “Catch.” Hinata grabbed it out of the air.

“Oh, a little B-Ball, huh?” He smirked and threw it up a few times. “Cool, cool, cool. Not really my forte, but I can manage.” He threw it into the hoop that was hung on the wall. The ball bounced off the hoop, and as if it was in slow motion, they all watched in horror as the ball made its way to the living room, and crashed into the TV.

Hinata's heart sank. He covered his face with his hands in horror. Everyone slowly turned towards him to pin him down with a glare.

“Oh, cmon!” Oikawa frowned, pouring some granola into his yogurt.

“My bad.” Hinata moved his hands off his face and stared at the shattered television.

“Dude. I need a TV. Ya have ta get a new TV.” Atsumu said, panic making its way in his voice.

Kageyama made his way over to the television and sat down next to it. He stared, silent. Hinata watched him grieve the TV, frowning to himself. Everyone was silent.

“That was my TV.” Kageyama broke the silence after a minute or two.

“It was kinda all he had.” Atsumu offered up.

“I’ll get you a new one.” Hinata mumbled, feeling horrible. “I just can’t afford it right now.”

“Do you have a TV at Ankoku’s?” Kageyama asked.

“Yeah I do. It’s just really big and thin and bright.”

“Go get it!” Kageyama and Oikawa said in unison, then proceeded to glare at each other.

“No! I haven’t seen Ankoku since he cheated on me.” Hinata frowned, his lower lip protruding slightly. “I just don’t wanna get in a big fight with him. I wanna be friends eventually.”

“Why do you want to be friends with your ex?” Kageyama scowled.

“Yeah. I don’t wanna be friends with Daishou, and all he did was rip me open and tear out my heart with his perfect, perfect hands.” Kuroo groaned and sank down to the floor, holding his head in his hands.

“He has a power over me,” Hinata, along with everyone else, ignored Kuroo, “it’s like he’s a wizard and I’m his mage. I think it’s his hair. He has really beautiful hair. Whenever I see it I go woo, woo.”

“Oh my god, I hate my life.” Kageyama mumbled.

“Alright, guys, just, look.” Oikawa put his yogurt and granola down and made his way over to Hinata. He put his hand on Hinata's shoulder. “I know. Closure. Ouch. Am I right?”

“I don’t know at all what you’re saying.” Hinata frowned and stared down at his feet.

“Okay, it’s not that complicated!” Kageyama declared. “Hinata, just get the TV back. It’s important.”

“I need a TV.” Atsumu chimed in.

“It’s important. It’s a television. Just get us the TV!” Kageyama's voice was getting louder and louder.

“Alright. It’s not a big deal. I’ll do it. I’ll call Ankoku and I will talk to him. So, yay.”

“Yay.” Oikawa smiled at him.

Sakusa walked in with Hinata and slammed the door behind them.

“What’s up Omi?” Atsumu smiled.

“Yeah, you alright?” Kuroo asked.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t get the TV.” Hinata mumbled. “I’m a terrible roommate.”

“You guys told him to call Ankoku?” Fury practically radiated off of Sakusa. Atsumu was so attracted to him right now. He grabbed a pillow and discreetly placed it on his lap. “That is not your job. That will never be your job. That is my job.”

“Alright, what happened?” Kageyama asked.

Hinata groaned. “He needed a ride to the airport.”

“What?” Kuroo questioned, appalled.

“For his new girlfriend.” Hinata added, shoving his hands down the sides of his pants, pretending he had pockets or something.

“Are you kidding me?” Oikawa asked.

“Are you serious?” Kageyama frowned.

“I’m supposed to pick her up next Sunday.” He sighed.

“Do you see what happens when you guys get involved?” Sakusa gritted out, his arms crossed.

“What’s wrong with me?” Hinata cried out, sinking down into the couch.

“This guy’s your kryptonite, holy shit.” Kuroo pointed at him. “You need to stand up, and you need to fight him.”

“I tried, but I can’t. I’m powerless!”

“You’re not ready to let him go.” Kageyama stared at him, his blue eyes narrowing. “You know, deep down, that when you get your stuff back, it’s over.”

Hinata helplessly looked over at Sakusa, not appreciating being read that easily by Kageyama of all people, but Sakusa just nodded.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I agree with him, Shoyo.”

Atsumu gestured in Sakusas direction when Hinata looked over to him for help.

“No, you’re wrong.” Hinata protested. “I want to move on.”

“Then you gotta fight.” Oikawa crossed his arms.

“I wanna fight.”

“And you gotta get mad.” Kageyama added.

“I wanna get mad!”

“Alright, then do this.” Kuroo got up and grabbed the pillow that was on Atsumus lap, ignoring Atsumus indignant ‘Hey!’. He held the pillow up. Hinata stood up. “Pretend this is Ankoku’s face. Punch it.”

Hinata nodded and wound his arm up. Kuroo nodded encouragingly. Hinata hit the pillow weakly.

“That was lame! Do it again.” Kageyama slammed his fist into the armrest.

Hinata hit it again.

“Cmon, punch it like an alpha.” Atsumu urged.

“Jar.” Sakusa glared at him, unimpressed.

“I’m just tryna help!” Atsumu protested as he shoved a dollar into the jar next to the couch.

Hinata continued hitting the pillow over and over, getting increasingly angrier and stronger every hit.

“C’mon, you’re mad! He broke your heart! He cheated! He did terrible things to you!” Kuroo continued encouraging him until he felt like Hinata was ready. “You’re good! Get your stuff back.”

“Okay. I’m gonna go get it! I’m gonna get my stuff back. Also, I’m gonna ask you guys to come with me.”

Everyone stared at him blankly.

“Seriously, guys. ‘Cause I can’t carry everything by myself. And I can’t be alone.”

Everyone got up and followed him outside to his car.

Hinata clenched the steering wheel hard enough that his fingers turned white. They ended up having to borrow Atsumus brothers van to be able to fit everyone. Apparently Osamu and Suna have children? Hinata wasn’t sure.

“Alright, what am I gonna say?” Hinata asked, eyes narrowed and focused on the road.

“Hey, Ankoku, give me my TV back.” Kageyama offered from the way back of the van.

“Hi Ankoku, give me my TV back, buddy.” Hinata tried out.

“No buddy.” Sakusa glanced over from the passenger seat.

“How ‘bout ‘jerk’ or ‘idiot’?” Atsumu poked Sakusa’s shoulder. Sakusa swatted it away.

“Mr. Krabs.” Hinata turned, forgetting the turn signal.

“Mr. Krabs is an option.” Oikawa grimaced.

“Okay, Shoyo, just pull over right here.” Sakusa gestured to the house.

Hinata pulled over. Hinata promptly pulled away and kept driving.

“One more time. One more lap.” Hinata nodded confidently.

“Okay. One more. That’s it.” Kageyama said.

“You got this!” Kuroo cheered.

Hinata made the lap around the block and pulled over at the house. Hinata pulled away again. Everyone groaned.

“One more time.”

Four laps later, Hinata finally pulled up to the house. He got out of the car and went up to the door. He rang the doorbell over and over.

Ankoku opened the door. “Oh. Sho-Sho!”

“That’s the wizard?” Atsumu pulled a face. “He’s wearin’ a scrunchie!”

“He looks like he juggles clubs on the beach.” Oikawa added, pulling a similar face.

“Yeah, like he’d ever have a job.” Sakusa sneered.

“Don’t ya just kinda assume he’d have a handlebar mustache?” Atsumu asked. Sakusa snickered.

“Cmon Hinata. Just go in there and get that TV.” Kageyama quietly urged him.

They watched as Ankoku pulled Hinata in for a hug. They watched as Hinata slowly raised his arms up to reciprocate the hug. They groaned in unison.

Hinata sighed into his arms. It felt good to be here again. He glanced down at the porch, and a plant caught his eye. Or rather, a dead plant. Hinata pushed away from Ankoku.

“I told you to water the plants. My dad gave those to me.”

“Huh? Oh, you know that was never my thing.” Ankoku shrugged and attempted to hug Hinata again.

“I told you to water the plants.” He pushed Ankoku’s arms away.

Hinata barged into the house, ignoring Ankokus shouting to take his shoes off. The five men in the car waited for him to emerge. When he finally did, he was carrying a large television and multiple bags.

“I got it!” He called out to the men in the car. “It’s really heavy, but I got it!”

Atsumu and Oikawa cheered, clapping for him. Kuroo whistled.

“He’s gonna drop it.” Kageyama frowned, staring at him.

“Shoyo, cmon, let's share it.” Ankoku trailed behind him. “We can work out a system.”

Hinata glanced over at Ankoku, his gaze focusing on the shirt he was wearing.

“Hey, hey that’s my shirt.” He took a step towards him.

“No, this is my T-shirt.”

“No, that is my shirt. It has my name on it.”

“Don’t drop it. Oh my god he’s gonna drop it.” Kageyama gnawed on his bottom lip nervously.

“Cmon, everybody out.” Sakusa got out of the car quickly, the alphas following suit. Hinata dropped the TV.

“No!” Atsumu and Kageyama cried out in unison, running towards it.

“Give me my shirt!” Hinata grabbed the shirt, trying to tug it off his body.

“No, no, no.” Oikawa grabbed Hinata and pulled him off of Ankoku.

“Don’t mind us, we’re just here fer the TV.” Atsumu stared at the television on the ground.

“Who are these guys?” Ankoku asked. “Hi Kiyoomi.”

“They’re my roommates!” Hinata scowled.

Sakusa ignored him and headed for the front door. “I’m gonna go get the rest of your stuff, Shoyo.”

“Wait, Shoyo, let’s just talk about this. You know, rap it out.” Ankoku pleaded.

“No, we can’t ‘rap it out’. We’re not together anymore. It’s not the same.”

“It doesn’t mean we can’t talk about things!”

“There’s nothing to talk about! Give me my shirt back!” Hinata started to struggle against the hold Oikawa had on him.

“No, you gave this to me. I want to keep it.” Ankoku pouted like a petulant child.

“Give him his shirt, man.” Kageyama glared, shoving his hands in his pockets.

“No, I don’t want to.” He took a step backwards. “And, you know, I gave him that shirt too so I’m gonna take that back.” He reached for one of the bags Hinata was carrying, but Kageyama beat him to it.

Kageyama grabbed the shirt and pulled it on over his head, letting it rest around his neck. “This one? You want this one? Come take it off me then. I dare you.”

Ankoku stared at him, his eyes wide. Behind Kageyama, Kuroo grabbed a different shirt and tugged it on over his head in a show of support.

“You guys look ridiculous.” Oikawa commented. Atsumu, not wanting to agree with Oikawa, grabbed a shirt and pulled it over his head too.

“Give him his shirt back.” Kageyama narrowed his eyes, his glare burning daggers into Ankoku.

“You live with these people, Shoyo?” Ankoku asked with faux concern. “Seriously? You can stay here until you find a better place to live.”

“You know what? I don’t like ya, stretch.” Atsumu glowered. “I don’t like anythin’ about ya! And I’m not afraid ta–”

Hinata raised a hand, effectively shutting him up. “I got this.” Despite Hinata being over half a foot shorter than Ankoku, he stared him down. “I have a place to live. It’s over. I spent six years of my life with you. All you are is an alpha with really beautiful hair. I’m happy you cheated on me. Thanks. If you hadn't, I would have mated with you. And then I’d have to deal with you for the rest of my life. Yeah, I’m living with four alphas I met on the internet. Yeah, stranger danger is real. But I’ve known them for a couple months now, and I love them.”

Oikawa groaned and grabbed a shirt, putting it on too. “Give him the shirt back, man.”

“What happens if I say no?” Ankoku took a small step back.

“You know what happens?” Atsumu stepped up to him. “Miya happens.” He raised a hand and slapped Ankoku across the face.

“Ow!” Ankoku raised a hand to his nose to check for blood. Kuroo pulled Atsumu back. "What was that?!"

“Thumb ring, bitch!”

Sakusa emerged from the house with the rest of Hinata's things, pausing for a moment to take the scene in before deciding he doesn’t care enough to find out.

“Fine, you want the shirt back?” Ankoku pulled it off and threw it at Kageyama. “Here!”

The alphas and Sakusa made their way back to the car. Hinata stared at Ankoku silently.

“You know, I thought we were gonna handle this like adults, Shoyo.”

“Yeah, well I thought you were the love of my life, so. Suck it, Mr. Krabs.” He turned and walked away, back to the van.

He didn’t even look back.
