Eye

Work Text:

Carefully entering the room, Akkarin stopped and looked around.

The last time he saw the room in the Mage Quarter was when he came to Lord Rotan to deal with Sonea. Even before, he lived in such places, but not for long.

And now I plan to spy on my best friend. Or...

Akkarin suppressed a sigh and sank down next to the bed, softly touching the face, so familiar and therefore dear. Smiling faintly, he brushed aside a strand of hair, causing Lorlen to wince but curl his lips into a smile. Akkarin had not seen him so relaxed for a long time - during the day he was always focused, occasionally smiling. He missed this lightness in Lorlen.

Carefully, he grabbed the thin hand with the ring and squeezed it lightly, watching as Lorlen automatically squeezed it back. Trust, even such an unconscious one, made me happy, even if it was only at night. Without letting go of his hand, Akkarin gently touched his friend’s dry lips, suppressing the temptation to deepen the kiss - he didn’t want to wake him up, otherwise there would be a lot of questions. He didn’t want to see wariness and fear in the blue eyes now - but they would definitely be there, there was confidence in that.

- Don’t go, - said a quiet voice. The hand squeezed tighter and Akkarin felt fear. Suffocating and full of despair. - Please...

Resisting the temptation to read the memory, Akkarin gently hugged her shoulders, reassuring her and trying to provide support. For there was a feeling that Lorlen was being disturbed by something far from an ordinary dream. And nightmares are good if they don’t involve him.

What he did not expect was that they would grab his hand and quite tightly. Akkarin did not dare to guess what exactly Lorlen dreamed about, and so he gently stroked his knuckles, trying to calm him down. He himself did not have such situations, but something told him that this could also calm him down without using magic. Akkarin didn’t know how long this usually lasted, but he hoped that he wouldn’t sit like that until early morning - somehow he didn’t want to explain himself to Lorlen, and so the situation turned out to be very strange.

The high lord is afraid to be in the mage's room, Akkarin sighed, gently touching Lorlen's cheek. I wonder if the previous High Lord also spied on the mages?

- Akkarin, -a faint whisper made him freeze in place. Weak and so... did these words sound painful?

Resisting the temptation to read his mind, Akkarin touched his cold forehead, sending out a faint wave of healing energy. Lorlen sighed and smiled faintly. The hand restraining Akkarin weakened and the magician did not fail to put it on the bed, covering his friend with a blanket.

Looking at the Eye, he sighed. This is a strange phenomenon.
