Work Text:
“Travis, hurry up!”
A head of brown curls peeks out from behind Chiron's desk. “Not helping, Katie-Kat.”
Katie glances outside again, then back at Travis. “Can you please hurry? I'm not getting any extra kitchen duty for being caught.”
“Then why are you here?” Travis asks, digging through another cabinet.
“Because you-” She's not going to say the word seduce per se, but it's close enough. “Gods, I'm never gonna be forgiven for this. Why did you ask me is the real question, hon.”
Travis lets out an exclamation of excitement, and holds up a sheet of paper. “Found it!”
It refers to the surprise cabin inspection schedule that Chiron has hidden. Travis simply wants it so he can drop in some pranks for specific cabins during their surprise inspections, and Katie is here in part due to the fact that Travis said he would skip over her cabin if he helped.
He did also ask her when they were at the lake and he was shirtless, which did not help her case at all.
“Great, now can we go?” Katie asks. It's late, just half an hour past campfire, and most campers are turning in for the night. Chiron’s been in a meeting with Mr. D and some satyrs, and it should end soon, which has Katie worried.
“Tuh-tuh-tuh.” Travis holds a hand up as he flips scans the page. “Your cabin is being inspected on Thursday, at 3.”
“Thanks, now it'd really be great if-” Katie looks outside to see Chiron returning. “Shit! He's back. We're fucked.”
Travis slips the paper into his pocket and grabs her wrist. “No, we're not. Come here.”
“What are you-” Katie is cut off by Travis kissing her urgently, one hand low on her hips while the other lifts her onto the desk and runs up her side and into her hair. He steps in between her parted knees to hold her closer, his hand moving to wrap around her neck and assert a little dominance. Katie moans at that, digging her heel into Travis's thigh.
She puts her hands against Travis, sliding down his chest while the other wraps around his bicep. We are not doing this in Chiron's office. We are not about to-oh fuck. we're not about to hit second base on his desk, she warns herself, despite her body betraying her mind.
A cough from behind them causes Katie to squeak, shove Travis off of her, and jump off the desk. “Sorry, sorry, sorry!”
Chiron looks more amused than anything. “Mr. Stoll, Ms. Gardner. I do have to say, I did hear rumors about you two.”
Katie blushes. “I'm so sorry, Chiron. We-”
“We just wanted to get away from the kids,” Travis cuts in, fibbing his way through this as he does through life. He wraps an arm around Katie, sliding the folded paper into her back pocket and hooking a finger in the belt loops of her jeans. Katie wants to roll her eyes at how smoothly he's doing it.
“Hm.” Chiron doesn't seem convinced, considering Travis has broken into his office numerous times. “Empty your pockets, Mr. Stoll.”
Travis does so, revealing them to be empty. Katie suddenly realizes why he snuck the papers into her pockets. “Assuming the worst in me, Chiron? I thought you knew better than that.”
Chiron shifts his eyes towards Katie, then back to Travis. “Always charming, aren't you, Travis?” He sighs. “My office is not for hormonal purposes, children. Never again.”
“Sorry, Chiron,” Katie says, still embarrassed.
“Won't happen again, sir,” Travis says, tugging Katie along by her belt loops and saluting on the way out.
Chiron nods. “I hope it doesn't. For all our sakes.”
“Gotcha, Chiron!” Travis yells back, laughing a bit as he walks out with Katie. He turns to her. “Gods, that was fun, Katie-Kat. Thanks for offering the pocket.”
He slides his hand into her back pocket, tucking in the paper back into his pocket. “Is that why you told me to change into jean shorts instead of the dress I was wearing today?”
“Well, there were two other reasons.”
“And they were…?”
Travis grins. “One, so I could do this.” He slips his hand back into her back pocket, as a way of escorting her, and Katie maybe sighs a little bit at the hand placement. “And as for number two,” he lowers his voice so his lips ghost the shell of her ear. “I planned for the kiss distraction.”
“You orchestrated an entire heist just so you could kiss me in Chiron's office?” Katie asks, incredulous. There's something about Travis sometimes that makes Katie go crazy in the best and worst ways.
Travis gives her his signature smirk. “Scandalous, isn't it?”
“Gods, Travis,” Katie exhales.
“Yeah, I know. You wet?”
Katie elbows him, and turns back to the big question at hand. “Okay, that doesn't have anything to do with the jean shorts.”
“Oh, sweetheart.” Travis has a little drawl to his voice that Katie's been obsessed with since the day she first heard it. He knows this too, and always uses it when he's trying to get his way. And it always works. “If we were going to kiss with you on that desk in a dress, Chiron would not be walking in on us simply kissing, now would he?”
That makes Katie's face completely flame. “You would not eat me out on Chiron's desk.”
“Baby, I would do much more than that,” Travis whispers. “You already got me half hard back there. Think about what would happen if I had you in there for longer.”
“Gods, Travis.” Katie hisses. “You have no dignity, do you?”
“Around you? Never. Besides, you'd be into it.” Katie scrunched her nose immediately, but doesn't deny it. “Told you.”
Katie rolls her eyes. “Let's not test that theory.”
“Damn, I thought you'd offer to,” Travis teases.
“Yeah?” Katie stops walking and turns to Travis fully. “Why's that?”
Travis shrugs nonchalantly. “Oh, I don't know. Maybe just ‘cause you're a freak in the sheets-”
Katie shoves his side playfully. “Travis!”
“Aw, Kates, it's nothing to be ashamed of.” He slings an arm around Katie's shoulders, kissing the top of her head. They head through the lawn, Aphrodite kids swooning over them through their cabin windows as they walk past. Katie hears Piper chastising them and finds herself smiling.
“Gods, you're infuriating.” Katie wraps her arms around Travis’s torso, smiling up at him. This is a cliché romance movie situation she's in, she knows that, but she also knows that she loves him and that everything is going to fall into place.
“In due time, Kates, we'll test out the desk theory,” Travis declares.
Katie decides to let this conversation take a turn. “So for now are we testing the wall or floor theory?”
Travis exhales harshly. “I will say this again, amongst the many other times I will say this. You're killing me, Kates.”
Katie senses that the offer probably won't stand tonight, though. “But?”
“But we have to get our kids settled for bed.”
“Didn't realize today would be the day when you were more responsible than me,” Katie muses. “But you're right.”
Travis pulls her into a hug, far too personal to be platonic. “‘Night, Kates.”
“Goodnight,” Katie whispers back, fighting every urge in her body to let all her feelings out. Not tonight, not yet.
Katie’s halfway back to her cabin when Travis calls out. “Hey, Katie-Kat?”
“Hm?”
“Come over later?”
Katie can’t help the nod that overtakes her. “Yeah.”
Katie easily slips through Travis's window, considering he's taught her numerous times how to get past the screen.
Travis lifts his head from his pillow and grins at her, face just barely visible in the moonlight. He sits up. “Hey, Katie-Kat.”
“Hey.” Katie tiptoes over to him, and watches as he holds the blankets open for her. She settles in next to him, already tired. “Sorry I'm later than usual; Camila couldn't sleep and I had to stay with her.” The newest member of Demeter cabin, eight year-old Camila, hasn't been settling in as well as the rest of the kids have, and Katie's been resorting to brewing teas to help her sleep. It's working, but her presence is really helpful as well.
Luckily, Travis understands. With the start of summer, he's also been welcoming new half-siblings and getting them settled. He's been having much better success, though. “Don't worry about it, sweetheart. Just go to sleep.”
Katie smiles. “Mkay.” She curls into him, intertwining their legs despite the humidity in the room.
“Good?” Travis asks, tracing the curve of Katie's cheek with his thumb.
Katie nods. “Mhm. Thanks, hon.”
Travis shifts closer to her, pulling her into a head hug. “Gods, I love when you call me that.”
“I know,” Katie replies, warmth growing in her chest in a way that feels like it's always been there. Like he's always been there. Like they've always been meant to fall like this.
“‘Night, Katie-Kat.” Travis closes his eyes and moves his hand from Katie's face to her back, hand slipping under her shirt so his thumb starts idly tracing circles on the smooth skin.
Oh, she has to tell him. Katie watches as his chest moves up and down, and speaks. “Trav?”
“Hm?” He's dozing, Katie can tell. So she just opts for the easy way out.
“Sweet dreams,” she whispers, her heart twinging as she speaks.
Travis cracks an eye open. “Aw, you just want me to have a dream about cuddling, don't you?”
Katie's cheeks flame slightly. “You have those dreams all the time, shut up.”
“Can't help it, Kates. You're-”
“I love you.” It slips out, and Katie wants to take it back but also wants to leave it out there. Between them. No going back.
Travis stops speaking. and Katie melts under his gaze. “You love me back?”
“Well, it wasn't really a secret, hon, and-” Katie stops. “Back?”
“Not much of a secret,” Travis parrots back, smiling. “Gods, I thought I'd be the one to say it first.”
Katie traces circles on his bare chest. “Sorry it took me so long to figure it out..”
Travis gives her a half shrug. “Sorry I had to wait to say it back,” he says.
“It's not your fault,” Katie whispers. “If you said it any earlier I would've laughed. Or freaked out.”
“You say that as if I'm not freaking out right now, Kates. Holy shit, you love me.” Travis laughs, pressing his face into Katie's chest and kissing her through the button-down pajama shirt she's wearing (stolen from his closet, of course).
“I'm also freaking out still,” Katie replies, running her fingers through his hair. “It's scary.”
“Mm, but you're worth it. Besides, we've fought in a war, Kates,” Travis mumbles into her exposed collarbone.
Katie finds herself smiling widely at him, with one in return staring right back at her. “So.”
Travis raises an eyebrow at her, and nudges her leg with his knee. “So…” he starts, making her giggle. “Wanna test the desk theory now?”
“Gods, I thought you'd never ask,” Katie whispers, much to Travis's delight. He immediately slips out of his sheets, making his way over to Katie and carrying her out of bed. “Come on, Kates. We have a theory to test.”
They quickly sneak out of Travis's window into the middle of camp, seeing the illuminated lawn in the moonlight. Katie's hand is grasped firmly in Travis's, and for a moment they're normal teenagers sneaking around during summer camp and not demigods forced into a life of hiding and secrecy.
Surprisingly, Travis leads Katie further into the camp, not Chiron's office (smart, honestly). They end up outside a cottage-style cabin not too far from the lake, but obscured enough within the trees for Katie to have never known about its existence. “Where are we?” she asks.
“It's normally used by Apollo kids,” Travis begins, swinging the door open and revealing a beautiful art studio, covered mostly with easels and paintings, glowing in the moonlight. “Not too many come in, though. Few prioritize art over archery and medicine.”
“So how do you know about this place?” Katie inquires, looking in awe at all the paintings and sculptures.
Travis shyly rubs at the back of his neck. “I come here a lot. To paint. Usually watercolor.” He guides her towards a wooden desk near a window, covered in somewhat transparent paint streaks and a collection of finished watercolor paintings.
Katie reaches out to touch them and look through them. They mostly depict lakes, the camp, and nature. “They're beautiful, Travis.”
“Really? I'm just dabbling, so-”
“Hon, they're gorgeous. I didn't know you paint.”
Travis shrugs. “Most people don't. My mom taught me growing up.”
“Your mom sounds like a really sweet woman.”
“I love my mom, but can we try to not talk about her when we're about to have sex?”
Katie laughs. “Come here, hon.”
Travis wastes no time in sweeping his paintings onto the wide windowsill and pressing Katie up against the desk. He kisses her insistently, and for a hot second Katie forgets that the desk is just near full length glass windows. She easily dismisses that thought from her mind when she remembers that everyone's asleep. At least, she hopes they are.
Katie slides her hands up Travis's arms and into his hair, lightly scratching his scalp and making him moan, pressing further into her and making her back arch into him. His hands are everywhere—on her waist, gripping her hips, curling in her hair, wrapped around her neck, cupping her ass, tracing her lip. It drives her crazy, the hold he has on her. Katie finds herself trying to do the same to him, by rubbing against him and sighing into his mouth.
When Katie snakes her ankle around Travis’s, he lets out a small groan and forces his knee in between her thighs, making her moan a little at the pressure against her. Heat is brewing deep within her core, and she hooks her leg over and around Travis’s hip in order to gain more friction.
Suddenly she's hoisted up as Travis picks her up and puts her on the edge of the desk, pulling back to face her with fully blown pupils. “Travis?” Katie asks softly, not sure where he's about to get into.
“Always, always wanted to do this,” he replies, stepping in between her parted legs and running his hands up and down her thighs. Instead of kissing her like she expects, Travis moves his hands to the buttons on her pajama button down, first tracing down from her collarbone to the neckline, then working his fingers through the buttons.
At one point, Travis reaches the lace bra part of unbuttoning her, and groans while doing so. He gets visibly shakier as he finishes, but leaves the shirt on Katie. “You okay, hon?” she asks.
“Holy shit. Yeah. This is gorgeous. You're hot. I love you,” Travis says, words blending together as he slips his hands inside Katie's open shirt and rests them around her waist. He kisses his way up her chest, then licks a hot stripe up the side of her neck, causing Katie's head to fall back and allow for him to slide his tongue right into her mouth and kiss her hotly.
Katie holds him at his neck and shoulders, hands creeping around his skin to keep him close. Her fingers twist around the cord of his camp necklace, tugging him closer. When Travis moves his mouth to start kissing his way down her throat, he also begins to move down her body entirely, slipping off her pajama shorts and panties to the floor while doing so. He swiftly drops to his knees, pushing Katie's thighs further apart, and kisses his way up her inner thighs.
He licks into her, causing Katie to let her head fall back and her hands to twist in his hair. “Good?” Travis asks, before circling within her with his tongue. Gods, he's so good at this. His hands rub at her thighs, holding her open while he sucks at her clit and swirls his tongue around it, lapping at her quickly.
“Fuck, Travis, I'm gonna come,” Katie gasps out, trying to roll her hips at the same time. With one final suck, Katie comes, sighing Travis's name while he slows his movements down and makes his way back up to Katie, kissing her and sucking at her neck. “Fuck,” she exhales, dropping her forehead onto Travis’s shoulder.
Travis pulls back, stroking at her hair. “Gods, you’re perfect.”
“I know,” Katie replies, smiling widely at him. “But now I kinda need you inside me.”
“Okay,” Travis laughs, pushing down his sweatpants and boxers. “Come on, sweetheart.”
Katie scoots to the edge of the desk, making it easier for Travis to enter her. When he does, she moans a little, taking a pause to get adjusted. “Holy fuck, you feel so good,” she whispers, grabbing at Travis’s shoulders.
He wraps his arms around her hips, thrusting into her slowly. “Always wanted to do this,” he mumbles for the third time that night. Travis moves one hand so it’s rubbing languidly on her clit, stimulating Katie even further. “Good?”
Katie groans at the movements, and bucks her hips against his. “So good, Travis, fuck.”
“Just like that, sweetheart?” Travis asks, moving faster as he thrusts into her.
“Mhm,” Katie gets out, burying her face in his shoulder as he fucks her, trying to savor the moment. “More, I’m almost there.”
Travis continues his movements until he finally, finally pushes Katie over the edge, groaning out her name quickly after her orgasm crashes into her. “Fuck, the things you make me do, Kates.”
“All good things, I hope,” Katie teases, kissing her way down his shoulder and curling her hands around his back.
“Fuck, yes, they’re all good things,” Travis responds, rubbing her back to soothe her mild shaking. “Okay, I think we do need to get back now, sweetheart.”
Katie sighs, as she moves slightly so Travis can get his clothes back on, and so she can get hers on as well. “Come on,” she says softly, holding her hand out so Travis can walk her back to Cabin 4.
The camp is quiet as they walk back. No screaming, no nightmares. Katie smiles softly at that, knowing that campers have eased their minds since the war. She looks up at Travis, who’s walking with sort of a dazy grin on his face, and her heart warms at how peaceful everything has become.
They make it to her cabin, and Travis holds her by the waist before he lets her go for the rest of the night. “Kates.”
“Hm?” Katie asks, her body easily curving into his.
“I love you.”
“I know,” Katie says, her heart hammering in her chest at that. “I love you too, Travis.”
Travis smiles at that, widely. “Good, because I thought I was dreaming for a hot second.”
The laugh that starts deep in her bones grows, and bubbles out of Katie. “It’s that hard to believe?”
“I mean,” Travis rubs at Katie’s sides through the fabric of her shirt, and pulls her closer. “You’re Katie Gardner. I’m just the boy who annoyed you all the time to get your attention.”
“Yeah, well, you’re also the boy who I fell in love with. Do with that what you will, hon.” Katie leans forward to peck him on his lips once, and Travis leans back in to kiss her deeper this time. “Goodnight,” Katie whispers, when she pulls back.
“‘Night, Katie-Kat,” Travis replies, kissing her one more time before letting her go.
Katie smiles, slowly inching towards her cabin, her grin wide on her face as if she’s some dumb teenager that just went home after her first date. Well, maybe she is.
She waves at Travis one more time before quietly closing the cabin door behind her, and tiptoeing into her room. Her blankets are cold when she lies down on them, and it’s a good contrast against the warmth of her skin, and the heat threatening to push past as a result of Travis’s antics.
Sleep comes much easier that night, and the lingering feeling of Travis’s touch on her skin runs up her body, forcing a smile onto Katie’s face.
