Chapter Text
Chigiri woke up alone, Kunigami’s side of the bed cold. He checked his phone – only 8 a.m., not nearly late enough for Kunigami to have been up long.
Confused, Chigiri got up and padded down the stairs, braiding his hair back as he went. He scowled at the amount of gray streaking through the pink locks; Kunigami convinced him not to dye it, but the transition was still irritating.
He found his husband in a rocking chair in the living room, reading with their grandson resting against his shoulder. Yuma was big for six months, but he still looked tiny nestled in Kunigami’s arm.
“Morning Grandpa,” Chigiri murmured as he kissed both of their temples. Kunigami hummed. “When did you get up? I didn’t hear him cry.”
“About an hour ago. You were dead to the world.”
“Sorry.”
“No worries, we had a nice morning, didn’t we, Yuma?”
The baby grumbled but didn’t wake.
“It’s been nice having him here,” Chigiri said as he walked to the kitchen for coffee. When he returned to the living room, Kunigami had laid Yuma in his playpen. Chigiri handed his husband a mug.
“I forgot how much work babies are,” Kungiami said as he settled with Chigiri on the couch.
“Been a minute since we had one around.”
“Think he’ll sleep when we go over to Barou and Aryu’s later?”
“If not, maybe he’ll want to watch his dad play.”
“I don’t think he can recognize Kyoji on a TV screen, Hyoma.”
“He might! He’s very advanced for his age.”
Kunigami laughed and shook his head. In a few days Keiko and Kyoji would be home and he and Chigiri’s routine would return to normal. But for now, for once, he wanted to enjoy the disruption.
