Chapter Text
Bianca wasn’t one to judge unless they did it to her first. But seeing the absurd state of the toddler, she couldn’t help but send Wednesday an incredulous look. Junior Addams seemed to be quite content in Enid’s arms, big dark eyes gazing at the gloomy interior of Nevermore’s campus. Bianca couldn’t explain it, but there was more to the toddler than everyone else thought. She swore she caught him sending her an evil grin a few times, but chalked it up to an imagination derived from her unsettled view on Addamses. Though if anyone asked, Bianca could confidently say that it happened exactly 7 times since their encounter.
After Wednesday and Enid had apparently received Pubert earlier that day, they took him around the campus before bumping into the Nightshades during break. After the entire fiasco from last year, the Nightshades were exposed (Wednesday had told them that they weren’t discreet at all and that probably half of the school already knew) and they’ve started hanging out more openly than before with Eugene, Wednesday, and Enid. Everyone knew of their society and though many had tried to join in—Bianca knew they were only on board because all of the Nightshades were popular in a way—none had been deemed worthy to join their society. Well, there weren’t any requirements per say. The society was content with having six members with three guests of their choosing.
Really, Bianca just didn’t want to have another troublemaker in their little group.
Enid had kept them up to speed about the situation the Addamses found themselves in. Yoko and Divina adored the little devil, while Xavier and Ajax were content with speaking to the toddler like he was just another teenage boy in their year. Kent had tried to play with Pubert, but when the toddler turned away not even a second after, Kent settled with sulking at the end of the table while his sister comforted him.
“Lucky bastard,” he mumbled bitterly as he glared at Eugene from the corner of his eye.
Bianca gave him a comforting smile before turning back to the toddler. Pubert was happily giggling as a few bees surrounded him with delighted buzzing noise. Beside Eugene was the sister eyeing the small insects with overwhelming intensity that had the boy frequently glancing at her in concern. Even Bianca found herself shrinking away from Wednesday’s deathly glare and she does not shrink away from Wednesday Addams
Still, a grimace made its way on her face when Wednesday became particularly deadly after one of the bees had accidentally stung Pubert. The toddler wasn’t even fazed by it.
Yoko thought that it hadn’t been a day since Pubert arrived, but his presence had already stirred up a lot of trouble in a matter of seconds. Wednesday wasn’t even a supernatural creature, but Yoko’s vampiric strength couldn’t hold her back from squashing one of Eugene’s precious bees flat. The goth stared at the dead bee, a psychopathic glint in her eyes that had everyone in the Quad stalk away from her. It seemed like only Enid and Pubert were unfazed, though Enid did look horrified and admonished her roommate after recovering. Pubert stared at the bee, grinning as he poked it continuously and babbled something strangely that Yoko suspected it had something to do with torture.
You know, the usual Addams stuff.
It was only when the bell rang did Wednesday tore her murderous gaze from the squashed bee and apologized to the still horror-stricken Eugene. Her tone said otherwise, but Eugene still accepted it, also apologizing for the bee’s action. Yoko didn’t think Pubert minded the stinger piercing into his skin at all, if his unshakable smile was of any indication. A chill ran down her spine and she shared a look with Bianca. As much as how cute Pubert was, he was still an Addams. Violence was his love language.
“Are you joining us in class, E?” Yoko turned to her best friend, a slow smile spreading across her face as Pubert clung to the werewolf with absolute adoration. When Yoko brought Enid to her home once, her younger siblings loved the blonde and practically begged her to replace Yoko as their eldest sister. It took a week for Yoko to stop sulking over it—Enid didn’t even have any younger siblings to be good with children! Somehow, the werewolf was just naturally great children and they loved her regardless of her inability to shift.
“Can’t,” Enid replied with a strained grin, head cocking to the toddler in her arms. “Pubert wouldn’t let go and I doubt he could sit still in Bio. We’re gonna take him around town later and get him acquainted with his new sitters that had volunteered.”
The worried exchange of looks between Enid and Wednesday had Yoko already pitying the volunteers. Was Pubert that bad with babysitters? The vampire refused to know, especially since it’d be with an Addams. Instead, she just nodded with an understanding pout and trailed after the others to their next classes. Bianca was looking over her shoulder as they walked, looking incredibly disturbed by whatever she was looking at. Yoko frowned in confusion. Hesitantly, she followed the siren’s line of sight only to end up staring at Pubert.
He was still in Enid’s arms, babbling happily as he looked at them. He waved, loudly yelling out Eugene’s name with a perfect pronunciation a normal three-year-old certainly could not do. Then again, Pubert wasn’t normal. He was an Addams. Eugene waved back weakly with a wobbly smile. Yoko could tell he was really trying, but his hands with the bee wrapped in tissue were shaking. Yoko could only offer him a comforting smile—though it probably looked like more of a grimace.
The rest of the Nightshades waved before disappearing to their classes, leaving Yoko and Bianca still within the vision of the small group.
Yoko looked at Bianca, giving her a questioning look. “What was that look about?” Yoko asked. Then, she glanced at Pubert. “You have a problem with the kid?”
Bianca shuddered. “I do hope he doesn’t,” she said with fear evident in her eyes.
Yoko frowned, glancing back at Pubert who still looked as innocent as an Addams could be. The vampire shrugged, muttering reassuringly at the scared siren that it was probably all her imagination.
Behind them, Pubert’s wicked eyes glinted with evil and mischief. The only other person who noticed it besides Bianca was the toddler’s eldest sister—who smiled just as evilly as her brother.
Bianca shuddered, and Yoko decided to let the siren be.
No point in arguing with her stubborn friend’s imaginations, right?
I’m doomed. Bianca thought as she rushed away from the Quad with Yoko following behind her.
