Welcome To My Nightmare

Chapter Text

★NO POV★

Scourge stares wide eyed at Sonic, his breathing frantic as his quills raise up high. A chill sweat beads on his skin, and the sight of the blue hedgehog’s intense gaze only heightens his unease.

Sonic’s gaze locks onto his, a whirlwind of anxiety and terror etching across his features. His complexion is ghostly, and his hands are balled into tight, trembling fists.

Neither of the two say a word, the emergency alarm and the darkness surrounding them making their anxiety jump through the roof.

In a heartbeat, Sonic’s gaze fixates on the sealed door of the room, tension crackling in the air. He then turns his attention back to Scourge, feeling his own quills raise in response to the dark atmosphere surrounding them...

He knows very well what's happening..  he knows very well who's coming after Scourge... and he knows very well that the creature that was after the emerald male was inside this very facility, looking for Scourge... and he knows that it would only be a matter of time before chaos and misery would erupt...

And he knows that there's nothing that can help the green hedgehog.... apart from one thing...

Without waiting another second, the petrified blue hedgehog shoves a hand into his quills, before pulling out a small key.

He launches himself towards the green hedgehog, and as quickly as possible he begins to unlock the handcuffs around his wrists, before quickly kneeling down and unlocking the chains that had been locked around his ankles.

“Listen to me very carefully Scourge.” Sonic screams over the alarm before he stands back up to his feet, Scourge quickly proceeding to stand up with him, all the whilst rubbing his sore wrists.

Sonic seizes him by the shoulders, compelling him to meet his gaze.

“you’ll have to do everything I tell you to do if you want to make it out of this situation.” Sonic exclaims loudly, tightening his hold on the other’s tense shoulders.

“The entity pursuing you... it’s a being unlike anything we’ve ever encountered.”

“How the fuck do you know—” Scourge’s eyes go wide, his breath hitching in shock once he feels something harshly colliding with his face.

He reaches up and grabs his aching cheek, realising that he’s just got slapped.

“Sorry, But we really don’t have time for this!” Sonic says, feeling slightly guilty for hitting the other unexpectedly, yet he knows it's the only way to force the other to listen to carefully listen in to him.

“Listen Scourge... the facility has been made to contain Shadow once it gets into lock down mode, and it’s in lock down mode right now, meaning that it’ll be impossible for you to get out... that thing... that creature... travels here by portals, however they aren’t normal portals which only open up once. They appear multiple times whenever one of those fuckers is present in our realm...” Sonic let’s out an exasperated sigh before taking a deep breath, almost scared to say the next thing.

“...you won’t like what I’m about to say... b-but you’ll have to travel through one of those portals...”

With a menacing glare, Scourge’s eyes transform into a wild, untamed look as he grips Sonic’s wrists tightly, causing him to wince in agony.

“FUCK NO—”

“You don’t have a choice! You either stay here, and wait for it to come get you, and believe me it WILL get you, since you have no way to get out of here and nowhere to hide, and risk having that thing do who knows what to you, OR you choose to willingly go into its own world, and hide and survive out there for as long as you can until I manage to bring you back!”

“THIS IS FUCNING ABSURD SONIC!”

“I know, but it’s you’re only chance! You need to trust me! I swear on everything that I have that I’ll do everything in my power to bring you back! But I won’t be able to do that if that thing gets a grasp of you now and it takes you to who knows where! ”

“I have so many fucking questions right now, how do you know all of this, how will you find me in another fucking dimension-“

Scourge falls silent, his already ghostly complexion draining further as the anguished cries echo through the facility, followed by the sharp cracks of gunfire and by piercing screams that fill the air.

The two of them stand there together paralysed in fear as they concentrate on the sounds of the other GUN agents fighting., before Sonic finally manages to come back to his senses.

“Let’s go, we don’t have time for this!”  With a fierce grip, Sonic harshly grips Scourge’s wrist, his hold so powerful that the emerald-hued rival felt a twinge of panic, fearing his wrist might break at any second.

In a flash, Sonic rockets out of the room, his super speed yanking Scourge along.

The azure figure dashes through a multitude of rooms, eyes wide with urgency, scanning each space before swiftly moving on, only to find them all empty.

“Come one come one, there’s got to be one somewhere!” Sonic races ahead, dragging Scourge along in a wild frenzy, his feet pounding the ground in a blur of motion.

After numerous minutes, he suddenly comes to a screeching halt, leaving Scourge in a whirlwind of confusion.

At the heart of the shadowy corridor they currently occupy looms a massive portal, pulsating with a deep purple energy that dances around its edges. Yet, at its core lays an abyss of pure darkness, evoking the eerie sensation of an infinite, endless void.

Scourge’s pupils shrink, a chill creeping through his veins at the thought of having to step into that daunting abyss.

“Where will it bring me?” he questions Sonic, who responds with a worried shake of his head, ears drooping against his head in a display of concern.

“It’ll bring you into that things’ world. I don’t know specifically where though, each time you enter a portal it’ll always be a different location.”

“Sonic... i—” Scourge says, however abruptly falls silent, his eyes clenching shut as a wave of fear washes over him. He instinctively pinches the skin between his brows, a gesture of anxiety. Meanwhile, Sonic, still gripping his wrist, can feel the tremors coursing through Scourge's body, which only makes him sigh in sympathy for the other.

“Scourge...” Sonic murmurs, offering a comforting squeeze to his wrist that encourages the other to cautiously lift his gaze back to meet his.

“I have faith in you. I know that you’ll be fine. You’re a strong, smart guy and I know that you’ll be fine surviving out there. You just have to stay hidden, and then I’ll come to take you back. Whatever happens don’t let that thing get you. Don’t fight against it, just run and hide from.” Sonic says, doing his best to reassure the other, who looks like he’s on the verge of losing his last tad of sanity.

“Be strong and—” Sonic comes to an abrupt halt, his ears perked as he catches the chilling echoes of blood-curdling screams slicing through the air—far too near for comfort.

Just as the wails pierce the large building, the ominous sound of bones snapping joins the cacophony, drowning out the blaring siren that wails in the background.

The two hedgehogs stands frozen, their eyes as big as saucers, as they peer down the dimly lit hallway. Their hearts racing, pounding in their chests, when suddenly, a head collides within the wall to their left, splattering crimson against the surface before it tumbles to the tiled floor with a sickening thud.

They stand frozen, hearts pounding in their chests, as they gaze down the shadowy corridor.

There, at the far end, a looming figure emerges from the darkness, its piercing white and crimson spiralled eyes locking onto theirs.

The glint of its blood-stained fangs shines ominously, a chilling smile spreading across its face, sending shivers down their spines.

“I’m sorry...” Sonic exclaims before he turns back to face the hedgehog besides him.

He grips Scourge’s wrist harder and runs closer towards the open portal before throwing him inside the endless abyss, the portal closing as soon as he’s thrown inside.

“SONIC!!!”
