My mind feels like a foreign land
The Eidolon takes his life, dulling his senses until suddenly it's drawing on his power and his, his, his friendships, his oceans, pulling Jason into a fight and warring between them and-
Silence ringing inside my head
In Greece, Percy's powers are unmatched. He is in his element, in his homeland, and the seat of his power climbs up his body and he laughs, cackles as his body breaks under the strain. The memory of his husband's body, gold cracking through his skin, carries him through it. He's on the edge of falling, falling, falling, and he can't do anything but cry. They're broken, gasping sobs, the kind that he deserves to have after killing his husband. Percy has few regrets, but that is one of them. It saved the world.
Please carry me, carry me, carry me home
Home dead, home gone buried in ashes and bone ash and he screams, gold wrapping around him and strangling his husband-
Percy wakes up, breath sharp and aching in his lungs and longing for home again.
Greece feels like a broken connection to an equally-broken past, dying hopes of adoration and the giants overtaking them until he can't think and all he does is what he was born to do: he fights, burning himself to smoke and ash and bone ash, bone ash, bone-

He picks himself up and carries on, every day, and doesn't think about the past.

The world was against them, he tells himself, and doesn't think about how their hate bled into their love until their fights had become explosive enough to tear his heart apart.

They loved playing games, especially in the rundown arcade in the middle of nowhere. Neither of them ever won, somehow, but they had the time of their lives doing it.
We were always a losing game.
Maybe one day, he'll let himself sing to Camp. Now, though, this will need to be enough.
