Notes:

Hey guys! I can't believe it's been two months since my last update. I'm really sorry about that. With exams, an anime convention, and job drama, my hands have been full. Thankfully all of that is over now and now I'm back on schedule. This chapter's pretty short but I promise you the next two are pretty long and jammed packed with things you guys may like, if you catch my drift. Anyways I hope you guys enjoy.

Chapter Text

The day of the party was finally here. Mika was currently busying himself in the bathroom mirror with trying to make sure his fake fangs looked straight and would stay in place. Once he was happy with them, he checked himself out in the mirror. The teen had to say that he thought he looked classy, and he found some pride in that. He was just about to exit the bathroom when a bottle on the cabinet caught his eye. It was a bottle of his favorite cologne that he had forgotten that he had. Mika spritzed it by his neck and on some sections of his outfit just for the heck of it. He sniffed himself, checked himself out once again, and then made his way downstairs once he was satisfied.

“Oh look at you! My handsome vampire!” Mika’s foster mother exclaimed as her blond son came into view. “Oh stand right there and let me get my phone. I just have to get a photo.” She ran off and Mika was left standing awkwardly in front of the stairs. He messed with a corner of his cape and hoped that she wouldn’t be long. Yuu was supposed to show up in just a few minutes. Over a minute passed by and Mika decided to go look for her is his large home. He found her in the kitchen shuffling through drawers.

“Mom are you okay?” Mika asked while watching her from afar.

“Yeah. I just can't remember where I put my phone. I must have stored it away somewhere when I was cleaning earlier,” she replied, looking up with a worried expression.

Mika reached into his pocket and pulled out his own phone and handed it to her. “Here use mine.”

“Oh! Why didn't I think of that earlier? Alright, go stand over there and smile!” She held up the device took the shot but not a second after the doorbell resonated throughout the home.

Shoot he had wasted too much time. “I’ll send the picture to you later but Yuu’s here so I have to go.” He walked up to her to grab his phone but she moved her hand out of the way.

“Go answer the door and bring him in. I'll take a picture of the two of you before you leave”.

Mika groaned internally but did as he was told. He had been trying to put off his foster mother’s meeting with Yuu. Not because he was afraid she wouldn't approve of his friend or anything like that, it was more that he was afraid she would say something embarrassing or scare Yuu away. He wanted to make sure everything was perfect but he figured that the two meeting like this wouldn't be too bad.

Mika opened the front door and revealed a slightly flustered looking Yuu in his cute werewolf costume. For some reason, the way he looked standing before him in the dim light of the setting sun was more enchanting than when he saw him at the store last weekend. He seemed nervous with eyes averted and right hand messing with one of his plush ears. Mika was worried at first but realized that this is the closest Yuu has gotten to the inside of his house. Yuu looked up and seemed to be about to speak, but Mika’s foster mother called out from inside, stopping him before he started.

“What are you waiting for Mika? Bring him in!”

Yuu looked up at Mika with a puzzled look. “My foster mom wants to take a picture of us together. Honestly, I'm sure it’s just her method of getting a chance to meet you.”

“Umm okay,” Yuu nodded and followed Mika inside. Yuu was taking the chance to look all around the house with wide eyes and Mika held back a giggle. Yuu looked like he was in an art museum surrounded by the work of legends.

“Oh look at you! You’re such a handsome werewolf,” Mika’s mom exclaimed as the two came into view. Yuu’s cheeks reddened with the complement. Yuu thanked her and she ordered the two to stand next to each other so could get the shot. Once the picture was taken, Mika’s foster mother handed him back his phone and proceed to introduce herself to Yuu.

“You're Yuu right? Mika has told me so much about you. You were all he talked about really talked about when we first brought him home.”

Now it was Mika’s turn to be embarrassed.

“Alright, enough about that. You two run off and be safe,“ She said finally and waved her hand in a shooing motion.

“Thanks Mom and we will,” Mika replied while pulling Yuu behind him by the wrist.

“Also it was nice meeting you Yuu,” she called out as she suddenly remembered.

“It was nice meeting you too mam,” Yuu was able to reply before the door shut behind them.

Once they were outside in the chilly late October weather, Mika released Yuu’s wrist reluctantly. “Sorry about my mom,” Mika apologized while scratching the back of his head, “She can be really overbearing sometimes.”

“No it’s fine. She’s really nice,” Yuu replied, “Also I finally got to go inside your house!”

Mika chuckled. “Well, all you really got to see was the hallway and the kitchen.”

“It still counts. I can't wait to brag to the others about it.”

They both laughed and jumped into Yuu’s truck to get out of the cold and head out to the party. The beginning was silent for the most part, with both of them stealing glances at one another when they could. Mika knew Yuu was watching him but he couldn't reprimand him since he was doing the same.

Yuu’s turn to stare was when they were stopped at a stop light. He was watching Mika intensely, starting to make Mika nervous when he finally yelped in surprise.

“Wait Mika. Are you eyes red?!? They haven't always been red right? What the hell happened?” Yuu was stunned and confused while also in awe.

“Relax Yuu and eyes on the road. The lights green,” Mika nonchalantly replied. He was waiting to see when Yuu would notice but he didn't think that he would respond like this. “They’re just contacts.”

Yuu accelerated and once he was at the desired speed, he turned to glance at Mika and ask, “When the heck did you get your hands on colored contacts? Aren't they super expensive?”

“The price isn't too bad and I bought them about a month ago.”

“A month ago? Why the hell did you buy red contacts a month ago?”

“Well, you know how I used to switch schools all the time right? Also how not too many people would pay attention to me? So sometimes I would like to play little “tricks” if you can call them that, and see if anyone would notice towards the end of my stays. For my last school, I decided to buy a couple packs of red contacts and wear a pair for a week and see if anyone would notice.”

“Did they?”

“Did they what?”

“Did they notice?”

“Not really. Only one kid who sat next to me in class and several teachers. No one said anything about them though.”

“Dang man. How the hell did barely anyone notice? If I was there I would have noticed immediately when you walked through the door! The only reason I didn't notice them till now was because I was distracted.” Yuu explained with pride.

Mika smiled and looked down. “I’m sure you would Yuu. People just don't pay much attention to the quiet kid they know won't be spending time with for long.”

“Well that’s stupid.” Mika looked up at Yuu. “Well, you never have to worry about that again because I don't plan on leaving you alone ever again,” Yuu exclaimed with a huge smile which caused both of them to smile and blush.

It got quiet for a while until Mika spoke up. “Thanks Yuu. I don't know what I did to deserve a friend like you.”

Friend. That word felt weird now for some reason. Usually the idea of having friends filled Mika with extreme happiness but now when it was directed at Yuu, it left Mika wondering. Was he not happy with their current relationship? Did he want something more? He chose not to dwell on it for long. He needed to focus on the happy stuff. It was Halloween after all.

“So this Krul’s house is super huge you say?”

“Yeah she’s loaded man. And her family lets her throw parties like almost every month! I’ve only gone to like two of them and They’re not bad. Loaded with people though and lots of people doing drugs and drinking alcohol. I don't know how she’s able to get away with it. I usually just go when the others drag me and for the free food.”

“Free food does sound like a good selling point,” Mika agreed leaning further back in his seat.

“It sure is. She’s got the good stuff.” Yuu paused for a minute then added, “Also Mika if you ever feel uncomfortable at any time just tell me and we’ll leave.”

Mika was thankful for Yuu’s concern. He couldn't deny he was starting to feel worried with all the talk about drugs and alcohol, things he could get in trouble over if his parents ever found out he was near. “Thanks Yuu. I’ll let you know.”

They continued on with small talk until they arrived at the open gate to what looked like a mansion. If people thought his house was big, they clearly hadn't seen Krul’s. The place had to be at least triple the size of his complete with a well maintain yard, a beautiful garden, and swimming pool, which no one dared to enjoy in this weather. Yuu slowly drove around, looking for a spot to park. The large driveway was filled to the brim with cars but he managed to find a good spot close to the gate. Mika could hear and feel the music blasting from inside and the sound of voices of all kinds all around while teenagers in all kinds of crazy costumes swarmed the place like ants. The scene was like something you would see in movies.

Once Yuu had successfully parked the truck he looked over at Mika and started to unbuckled his seat belt. Mika looked back at him and followed his lead. “You ready?” The young werewolf asked.

“As I'll ever be.”

The two then exited and made their way to the house to embark on a spooky themed ride.
