Work Text:
Annie had to retake her driving test to get her license back, and she was livid about it. “I drove a bus at exactly fifty miles per hour and no lower for a long time and not one passenger died in the process. That’s an easy gimmie.”
“One guy did die.” Jack was eating Rice Krispies while sitting on her kitchen counter, and Annie made a face.
“No good guys died,” Annie pointed out. “I deserve a medal for that.”
"What about...?" he began.
"Shh!" she retorted.
Jack took to dropping her off at work and picking her up in the afternoons. They were already spending their weekends and nights together, so it wasn’t a problem. His work hours were abrupt and confusing, but he always came back in one piece, and he was determined to get her to understand he always would.
She didn’t quite know if she believed him yet. But she did know one thing. He was worth taking things slowly for.
