Chapter Text
Positive.
Her eyes widened in horror.
No. It couldn't be.
She couldn't believe it. No. She refused to believe it.
Tomá held back her tears and desperately withdrew the spare pregnancy test. She repeated every step to the tee once again, double and even triple checking to make sure she didn't miss anything. And yet... still positive.
Unshed tears stung Tomá's eyes as she dropped the test on the floor. No, it couldn't be. She was still so young, still in her prime- and now she was pregnant. For a moment all she could do was stare into nothingness. Stare as the the nightmare of being pregnant came true. It was all too much for her. She just stood and stared, until the news finally registered and sank in completely.
She was definitely pregnant.
With a broken sob she collapsed to to the bathroom floor. Her knees hit the tile with a soft thud, and she clutched the side of the wall for support. A steady flow of tears ran down her face as she dug her fingernails into the wall, but she kept herself quiet. The last thing she wanted was for Kuai Liang, or even worse- Bi Han to find her like this and ask what happened. Of course she could lie about it, but they'd find out sooner or later and it would just land her in a whole load of trouble. As the thought of breaking the news to the brothers came to mind, she began to sob harder. The thought alone scared her so much. How would they react to it? She expected nothing but a negative or even violent reaction from Bi Han, and was even unsure about how Kuai would respond. Sure he was sweet and caring now, but what if he didn't like her being pregnant? It was a stupid thought, since he was the one who likely impregnated her, but not an unrealistic one either. The questions and theories continued to plague her mind, and continued to make her cry harder.
By now she was full on sobbing, not even trying to hold anything back. Her mind had blanked, and all she could focus on was trying to hide the pregnancy from both Bi Han and Kuai Liang. But even with that in mind, she couldn't control her sobs. They just grew louder and louder, and that was when she heard footsteps.
Tomá's body seized up as the footsteps drew nearer. She held back her next sob to listen intently, only to be mortified when she recognized the steps as Bi Han's. At that point she lost her mind and scrambled to hide the pregnancy test. The door to the bedroom creaked open, and she had only about half a second before she could react. Without another thought, Tomá carelessly threw the test into the shower just before the bathroom door opened. There in the doorway stood Bi Han, his tall and domineering figure towering over her frail and curled up one. He looked down at her with disdain before opening his mouth to speak.
"What are you doing on the floor, and why are you crying."
Why did it matter to him? Why did he care if she was crying or not? Quickly, Tomá wiped her tears before turning the other way.
"I-it's nothing... I..." She trailed off, unsure of how to finish the sentence. No way in hell was she going to tell Bi Han the truth- at least, not right now. Her focus remained on anything but him, but she could feel his eyes glaring daggers at her. Bi Han hated people who disobeyed him, and moreover, those who straight up lied to him. He strode over swiftly to her trembling form and grabbed her by the bicep.
"I said, why. Are. You. Crying."
His cold and demanding tone only made her want to cry more, but she soldiered on. With the little strength she had left, she made an attempt to escape his hold.
"I-it's nothing... p-please..." Her voice cracked. "I...I promise..." Her body began to shake, and she lowered her head. This time, she made no effort to stop the tears that escaped her eyes. Bi Han just looked at her emotionlessly. He knew she was lying, but he was in no mood to push this issue any further. It was almost as if he felt bad about doing so. Instead, he hoisted her up by the arm and dragged her out of the bathroom.
"Get back to bed." He ordered. "I don't want you getting sick all over the floor." Lightly he pushed Tomá towards the bed, leaving her to stumble and grab the bedpost for leverage. She looked behind her fearfully as Bi Han turned around and exited the room. He knew something was up, unless it was just Tomá crying about the pain and trauma she now had to carry with her for the rest of her life. But something seemed off about her crying this time. It wasn't like her usual quiet and broken sobs- these sobs were intense and uncontrolled. Either something really bad had happened or she was just losing her mind, but he would focus on that later. For now he brushed it off, and left to finish up some tasks.

Tomá didn't know how much time had passed. She woke up feeling groggy and lightheaded, but that all left the moment she remembered her predicament. To her, this was a life or death situation. She knew she had no more autonomy over her body now. Everything Bi Han and Kuai Liang did to her, they did so without asking. Her body belonged to them. They controlled her every move, and they would certainly be the ones to dictate what she did with the baby. She likely wouldn't even be given a say in the situation.
Tears sprung to her eyes again, but she brushed them away roughly with the blanket. She couldn't keep crying like this. She had to be strong, even if it seemed impossible.
Think Tomá, think.
She looked down at her tummy and gently ran her hand across it. For now it remained toned, slender and muscular- it was the body she had worked so hard for. Over the past few weeks it had diminished a little, but nothing that couldn't be salvaged with a couple weeks of training. But she didn't care about that. She had a little bit of time until her belly would begin to grow, and she could use the time to formulate a plan on what to do next. A thought that came to mind was running away again, but that was shot down when she recalled what happened last time she tried that. Another thought was getting an abortion, but that wouldn't go unnoticed. The nurses would be required to inform Bi Han and Kuai Liang of it, and that would lead to utter chaos.
Tomá grew frustrated as she desperately tried to think of a solution- something, just anything! As long as Kuai and Bi Han wouldn't find out, she didn't care. Maybe even she could perform the abortion herself. She thought of all the things she could do to abort the baby herself, but it only made her feel like a remorseless killer. Sure she supported abortion in general, but she herself didn't have the heart to kill a child. It was such complex thought for her, an idea she couldn't even fathom.
Feeling dejected and hopeless, she began to cry again. There was no way out of this for her- either she would have to come clean or she'd have to risk everything and abort the baby herself.
As she continued to weep, she didn't notice Kuai Liang enter the bedroom. Like always when she cried, he took his spot beside her on the bed and held her closely in his arms.
"Shh..." He said softly. But she continued to cry, occasionally hiccuping as well. Kuai remained silent and pulled her even closer. Something felt off about the crying to him as well, but he didn't dare question it as he looked down at the young woman.
"Did Bi Han... do something?" Hearing that man's name only made her cry harder, and it gave Kuai the wrong answer. He scowled at the thought of what Bi Han did this time. "Tell me." He said softly yet firmly. "What did he do." To his surprise Tomá shook her head.
"N-nothing..."
Now he was confused. If Bi Han didn't do anything to her, then what was making her cry? Several thoughts came to mind at this question. Likely it was just pain or haunting nightmares, but either way it bothered him. He couldn't stand to see her like this. Kuai gathered Tomá into his arms and held her, a desperate but useful attempt to silence her cries. He snaked a hand into her hair and massaged her scalp soothingly.
For a while he stayed like that- just holding her and letting her cry. Several minutes went by, but her crying did not cease. His heart ached for her as she sobbed into his chest, however he held his tongue. There were times like this where he could only hold her as she wailed. Eventually she would quiet down, and he knew that was what would happen today as well.
Almost an hour had passed, and Tomá's wails had been reduced to what seemed like frightened whimpers. Kuai did his best so console her, but it seemed his efforts were futile as her whimpering continued. Unbeknownst to the pyromancer, Tomá could not recover from an ordeal like this. This was a pain like no other she felt, and that pain was hopelessness.
Sorry this took so long lol, holidays and school got me busy. Will be quicker with the next chapter :)
