Work Text:
Christmas is everyone’s favorite time of the year. (Debatable.) Most will have loved ones to share it with. Or, at least a date planned ahead of time. Kim Taehyung was one of those people. He was excited. He had picked a restaurant, something that was not too expensive. It is also still closer to the beginning of December so he did not have to worry about the traffic being hectic. He picked out a nice outfit and even got his hair done professionally. He’s ecstatic. Today is the day for the date.
Taehyung got up earlier, took a shower and shaved. He did his usual facial routine while humming to himself. His best friend leans in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest with an amused look. “You really are going all out for this guy.”
Tae rolls his eyes, pushing past him to pull on his clothes. The date is in an hour, he has to look good. He shimmies into the skinny jeans, while his friend smiles softly. His date is supposed to pick him up from his shared apartment with his best friend and soulmate, Park Jimin. Tae had been the one to do the planning but the other was going to come get him.
The time is ticking.
-
What was supposed to be the best day ever soon changes. He receives a text five minutes before the date, telling him that his date will not be coming.
Taehyung feels his mood drop as he stares down at his phone. His fingers hover over the phone screen. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time this year he’s been dropped. In the past month, this will make it the fourth time.
Jimin watches from the couch and sighs, grabbing his car keys. Thankfully, he is already in a presentable outfit to go out. “Let’s go, Tae. We aren’t wasting that reservation. We will just be a little late.”
He grabs his best friend by the wrist, pulling him to the door. They both slide their shoes and jackets on, then out the door they go.
-
The place isn’t super packed, which is nice. Christmas lights hang from the ceiling, twinkling as music plays quietly in the background. The vibe is amazing so close to the holiday. Taehyung brings his eyes back down, looking at his best friend across from him.
Jimin is busy reading the menu, deciding on what to get. The other’s blonde hair is pushed back, his forehead on display. His lips are red from where he’s been biting on them, moisturizing them occasionally with his tongue. Taehyung lets out a shaky breath. His soulmate is so beautiful. Why is he just now pointing that all out while on a Christmas outing with him?
Could this be a date?
Jimin looks up at him, lifting an eyebrow. “What is it?”
Taehyung shakes his head, heat rushing to his cheeks as he picks up his menu to select a dish for himself. The older man smiles to himself, watching how fluster his best friend gets. The feelings are there. (For him anyway.) He has always had trouble seeing his best friend’s heart being broken when he has fallen so hard for the younger. Jimin just tends to keep his feelings to himself.
When he saw the hurt and dejected face on Taehyung earlier, he couldn’t help but step in. The last few dates have stood Taehyung up or used him. Jimin is usually the one who offers some treats, movies and cuddling. The items are Tae’s go to after heartbreak. Unfortunately, Jimin can only do so much. He’s only his best friend. His soul mate.
But this time, he couldn’t do it. Fuck the guy who decided to dip last minute. He will take care of his Tae for now on.
The waiter approaches them and they relay their orders to the person. While they wait for their food, Jimin clears his throat. “I’ve got tickets to that movie you wanted to see.”
Taehyung’s eyes light up. “Really?”
Jimin smiles softly at the sight, propping his elbow up on the table and laying his chin onto his palm. “Yes, really. I managed to snag them after we finished dinner.”
Taehyung smiles widely, a full boxy smile on display.
Jimin is so in love.

As they sit in the theater, Taehyung is slowly starting to come to terms. The movie that plays on the screen is one he’s wanted to see for months but all he can think about is how the one person who has always been there for him is Jimin. He glances over at the older, taking in his side profile. The sharp jawline and pretty lips. The way his eyelashes curl. His styled blonde hair.
It’s never been about looks though. Taehyung starts to reminisce on their friendship, leading up to now. The two met in university, a friendship blooming between them their freshman year. They were practically inseparable, always attached at the hip. Jimin felt like a missing piece to himself, someone that he’s always needed. As time passed, the two never left each other’s side.
Jimin was always there to console him after a bad breakup, offering a shoulder for him to cry on. He’d help him on his uni homework and now with any work related issues. Jimin always made time for him. Tae puts a hand over his heart as it picks up speed. The two started to live together by junior year, believing it was easier than living at the dorms.
The feelings have always been there, he believes. He tried to push them down because he didn’t want Jimin to leave him. He needs his soulmate. The one person who completes him, but right now. He truly wants to be with the person who he loves .
Wait….
Love?
Taehyung smiles to himself, feeling tears prick the corner of his eyes. Yeah. Love. He loves Park Jimin.
-
Currently, the two are walking back to the car. Taehyung looks down at the elder's hand, wanting nothing more than to reach out and intertwine their fingers together. Jimin turns his head to the other, lifting an eyebrow.
“Were you listening to me?”
Taehyung blinks a few times and meets Jimin’s eyes. “Sorry. What is it?”
Jimin chuckles softly, stepping closer and taking Taehyung’s hand into his own. “Your fingers are cold.” He grabs Tae’s other hand, lifting them up to his lips and blows on them. Taehyung’s face heats up, his eyes wide as he watches Jimin.
“Minnie…”
The elder man lets the other hand go, keeping one in his grip as he intertwines their fingers together. “Yes?”
Taehyung pulls the older man with him, heading to the park that’s across the road from the theater. Jimin follows, a smile forming on his lips as the younger man pulls him by the hand. He’s amused, knowing Tae is flustered.
They walk for sometime before stopping in an area that isn’t populated by a whole lot of people. Lights hang from some of the trees and light posts, making the park beautiful. The wind whips around them, making them both shiver from the sudden cold air. Taehyung takes a deep breath, gathering his thoughts to form them into words. How is he going to do this?
Just confess? Say he loves him? Fuck.
He rubs the back of his neck before letting his hand drop and faces Jimin. The elder is looking around at the lights, making his eyes twinkle just as much. A fond smile forms on Tae’s face as he watches his soulmate. His heart thumps against his chest, nothing but pure love filling him to the brim.
“Jimin.”
Jimin brings his eyes to meet him, a pout forming. “Why the government name? I thought it was Minnie?”
Taehyung chuckles, stepping closer to the older man. “Minnie, I want to talk. Just let me, okay?”
Jimin nods, waiting for him.
“In all honesty, I feel like an ass for making you comfort me through my own heartbreaks,” he holds a hand up when Jimin tries to speak. He shakes his head. “One thing I realized tonight is that the one person who loves me no matter what is right in front of me. I have had feelings for you for sometime but was too afraid to admit it. I was afraid to confess because I cannot lose you.”
Taehyung chokes up, feeling tears starting to form once more in the same night. “What I want to say is that I love you, Park Jimin.”
At some point, he had started staring at the ground because he couldn’t face the other man. He doesn’t want to see his face. He confessed to his best friend just now. The man he’s sure feels the same as he does. He’s sure of it.
Two hands cup his face, making his head lift and he meets the watery eyes of his soulmate. “Of course I love you, you idiot. Aish, I’ve been treading water for months now. I didn’t know when a good time to confess would be. I can’t believe you beat me to it.”
Taehyung lets out a wet laugh, putting his hands over Jimin’s. “I’m sorry I didn’t confess sooner.”
Jimin rolls his eyes, pulling Taehyung down to close the small gap between them. Despite the cold air, Jimin’s lips feel so warm against his own. It’s just a gentle kiss, one to pour their emotions into.
Taehyung feels something fall onto his nose, making him pull away and look up at the sky. Snowflakes are falling. The first snowfall. He smiles, looking back down to meet Jimin’s gaze. “You know what they say about watching the first snowfall with someone? That they are meant to be.”
Jimin chuckles, shoving him gently.

Three weeks have passed since the two confessed their love to one another. Today is Christmas Eve. The lights are twinkling on the tree as he sits curled up under a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate in his hands. Jimin had some last minute plans with family but promised to make it back today to spend the night with him.
Taehyung takes a drink from the hot drink, watching the movie that plays on the television. It’s some English Christmas movie, the captions running along the bottom of the screen. He’s not really paying attention to it, waiting for his boyfriend to return. He sighs softly, sitting the cup down onto the coffee table and looking to the window. He unconsciously pouts, pulling his knees up to his chest. He misses his Minnie.
He starts to drift off into his own thoughts that he doesn’t even hear the apartment door open. Jimin pulls his boots off and slides his jacket off to hang it up on the coat rack. He walks into the living room, seeing Tae sitting there with a pout present. He rolls his eyes fondly, leaning over the back of the couch and wrapping his arms around the younger’s shoulders. Taehyung nearly jumps out of his skin, turning his head to meet Jimin’s gaze.
Jimin laughs, kissing him softly on the lips. “Hi baby. I didn’t mean to frighten you.”
Tae puckers his lips out, “Apology not accepted.”
Jimin pulls him in for a longer kiss, pulling him close as their lips move together in a slow tandem. He could devour the younger, taste him for the rest of the night. He pulls away with heavy breathing, moving to walk around the couch. He sits down by Tae, kissing his cheek and pulls him close. “Sorry I was so late.”
Taehyung chuckles softly, cupping the older’s face with one hand. He runs his thumb along Jimin’s cheek bone as he leans into the touch. “I’m just glad you are back. I missed you.”
Jimin hums, his eyes taking in the man he loves so much. “Tae…”
Taehyung stands from the couch, pulling the other along with him. “I want to give you a gift.”
Jimin follows after him, watching as Tae sways his hips to the music softly playing from the movie on the tv. He chuckles softly, pulling Taehyung close by the hips when they reach their room. Their room. He’s still getting used to that. They no longer have separate bedrooms. They sleep together in the same bed and it is so nice. He gets to wake up, holding Tae close in his embrace.
He presses small kisses along Taehyung’s neck, tracing down his right shoulder. The younger man leans his head to the side, giving him more access. “What’s my gift?”
He whispers against the tanned skin. Tae hums, turning in Jimin’s arms to wrap his arms loosely around the older’s neck. “Me.”
Jimin lets out a groan under his breath, his fingers digging into Tae’s hips. “I like the sound of that.”
He slowly urges Tae backwards, gently pushing him onto the bed. He pulls his own jeans off along with his sweater. Taehyung had only been wearing sweats and a t-shirt so he did the job of removing both. Jimin climbs onto the bed to hover over him, his blonde hair naturally styled today. It’s fluffy and soft, how Tae likes it.
“I’m going to show you what true love is, my dear.”
Taehyung smiles, pulling the older man down to kiss him. Jimin hums into the kiss, biting down onto Tae’s lip to gain entrance. He explores the warm cavern that tastes of hot chocolate and Christmas cookies. He pulls away to leave soft kisses down the younger’s neck, collar bones and sternum. He takes his time, appreciating his body.
Time seems to last eternity as he takes his time to show his boyfriend the love he deserves. He preens at the sounds that Tae makes as he takes him into his mouth, moving his head up and down. Fingers bury into his hair, pulling gently as Tae tries not to cum. It only prides him to keep going before he pulls off with a pop. He grabs lube, coating his fingers and takes his time to stretch his baby out nice and well. He distracts him with kisses, devouring his lips.
Taehyung drags his fingers down his back, pulling him closer as he moans and whines into the kisses. “M…Minnie… please.”
“What, baby?”
“Inside me, please.”
Jimin nods, grabbing a condom. A hand stops him. He meets Tae’s eyes who shakes his head. “I want to feel you.”
Jimin lets out a low sound, applying some lube and positions himself. He slowly slides in, knowing it’s been a little while since they’ve done it. Once he is in all the way, he starts to move his hips. Taehyung moans loudly, grabbing onto him and wrapping his legs around him.
He picks up the speed when he knows the younger man is comfortable and asking for more. He praises Tae, kissing him softly but deeply. Taehyung pulls his head down, wanting him to be closer. He laughs softly, bumping their noses together as he kisses his face all over.
Taehyung throws his right hand out to clench the sheets below him, feeling so unbelievably warm and full. Jimin traces his fingers up the younger’s arm, up to his hand and interlocking their fingers together as he starts to slow his movements. It’s not long before the two of them are reaching their highs, letting go at the same time with each other’s names leaving their lips.
Jimin breathes heavily as he falls onto his elbows, hovering over the younger. He waits for him to catch his breath before pulling out. He goes to the bathroom to start the shower and comes back to grab Tae who is dozing off. He urges the younger into the bathroom, gently pulling him under the water so they can rinse off.
He gets out first to get a soft towel for Tae to wrap around himself. Taehyung takes it once he turns the water off and steps out himself. They both dry off together and get ready for bed. Jimin goes to change the sheets and covers, taking the others to the washer. He comes back, the two finally crawling under the covers for the night. He pulls Taehyung close, kisses the top of his head.
Taehyung looks up at him with a smile, his head resting on his chest. “I love you.”
“I love you too. Merry Christmas, my love,” Jimin smiles down at him softly, kissing his forehead before the two fall in a sweet slumber.
