Unholy nights

Chapter 10

Chapter Text

After ensuring that Gertie and Lucifer were safe and healed, thanks to Castiel's swift intervention, Sam's attention turned to his son. The intensity of the night's events had not diminished the concern in his eyes.

He guided Lucifer to the hood of the Impala. "We need to have a little talk."

Sensing the seriousness in his father's tone, Lucifer climbed onto the hood, his expression a mix of apprehension and curiosity. The warm air starkly contrasted with the chill of the car's metal beneath him.

"Luci," Sam began, his voice calm yet firm. "Do you understand how dangerous what you did tonight was?"

The boy shuffled uncomfortably, avoiding his father's gaze. "Am I in trouble?" he asked, his voice small.

Sam sighed, his approach gentle but direct. "I want you to think about it, Luci. Do you think you did anything wrong tonight?"

There was a long pause as Luci considered the question, the weight of his actions slowly dawning on him. "I... I broke the rule about leaving the house without a grown-up," he admitted his voice barely above a whisper. "And I snuck along on a hunt when I was told to stay at home."

Sam nodded, encouraging his son to continue.

"And... I dragged Gertie along," Luci added, his guilt evident. "I put her in danger, too."

"That's right," his father affirmed softly. "You did. Hunting isn't a game, Luci. It's dangerous, and there are rules for a reason. We set these rules to keep you safe, not to stop you from having fun."

The boy looked up at his father, his blue eyes filled with a newfound understanding and remorse. "I didn't think about it like that. I just wanted to help but didn't realize how bad it could get."

Sam touched his son's shoulder, offering a reassuring squeeze. "I know you want to help, and that's brave. But bravery isn't just about facing monsters. It's also about knowing when to step back and trust others to handle things."

The night around them was still, the aftermath of the battle lingering like a distant memory: the stars twinkled above, a silent witness to the father-son moment unfolding beneath them.

"Promise me, Luci, that you'll think twice next time. Follow the rules, and don't put yourself or others in unnecessary danger," Sam said, his tone a mix of sternness and love.

"I promise, Daddy," Luci replied, a sincere resolve in his voice. "I'll be more careful. I don't want to cause trouble or get anyone hurt."

Sam smiled, a mixture of relief and pride in his eyes. "That's my boy. Remember, you can always come to me or any of us if you're curious about hunting or anything else. We're here to guide you, not just as hunters but as family."

The conversation on the hood of the Impala marked a pivotal moment for Lucifer, a lesson learned in the realities of their lives. It was a reminder that even in a world filled with supernatural dangers, the most important battles were often fought within, guided by love, understanding, and a sense of responsibility.

Lucifer glanced up at his father, a hint of mischief in his eyes despite the seriousness of their conversation. "So, am I going to be punished?" he asked, a mix of apprehension and curiosity in his voice.

Sam couldn't help but smile, recognizing the playful tone in his son's question. "Well, Luci, if you think you broke the rules and did bad things, it's kind of my responsibility as your parent to hold you accountable for those kinds of things," he replied, his voice tinged with a gentle firmness.

Lucifer's face lit up with a realization, and he laughed. "You tricked me into confessing," he said, a grin on his face.

"Maybe a little. But you must understand why rules are there. So, yeah, you'll be grounded for a little while." Sam chuckled softly and playfully ruffled Lucifer's hair.

Luci nodded, accepting the consequence with a good-natured shrug. "Fair enough. I guess I deserve it for what I did."

"That's the spirit," he said, warm and approving. "It's not just about punishment, Luci. It's about learning from our mistakes and making better choices next time."

The night was peaceful around them, starkly contrasting to the earlier chaos. The Impala, a silent companion in their journey, reflected the moonlight on its sleek, black surface.

"You know, despite everything, I'm proud of you for owning up to your actions," Sam continued. "That takes guts."

"Thanks, Dad. I'll try to be more responsible. And maybe one day, when I'm older, I can join you on a hunt... properly." Lucifer smiled, feeling a sense of pride and the humility of his lesson learned.

He nodded, his gaze affectionate and proud. "One day, for sure. Until then, there's a lot you can learn. And I and everyone else are here to teach you."

The father and son sat together on the hood of the Impala, their bond strengthened by the night's events. It was a reminder of the challenges and joys of parenting, even in a world as unusual as theirs. The stars above twinkled in approval, casting a soft glow over the quiet camp.

Gertie, having ensured that both Lucifer and herself were safe and healed, turned her attention to Daisy and her mother, who were standing a short distance away. Walking over with a gentle smile, she approached them cautiously, mindful of the night's traumatic events.

"Are you both ok?" Gertie asked, her voice soft and reassuring.

Daisy and her mother exchanged a hesitant glance before nodding. However, it was evident that a shadow of fear lingered in their eyes.

"I know what you are, Daisy, and I think you know what I am," Gertie admitted, watching their reactions closely. "And I want you to know I'm ok with it."

Daisy and her mother tensed, their previous fears reignited by this revelation. "Werewolves haven't been kind to us in the past," her mother, Evelyn, confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.

Gertie's smile remained, but it was tinged with understanding and empathy. She glanced back at Lucifer, who was still sitting with Sam and then turned her gaze back to Daisy and her mother.

"Lucifer is human, and he's my boyfriend," Gertie explained, her tone warm and open. "One day, we plan to have children who will be mixed, just like Daisy. He's not just a human...he's the son of a hunter. It's important to remember not all hunters or werewolves are the same."

Daisy and her mother seemed to relax slightly, their fear subsiding as they listened to Gertie's words.

The pureblood werewolf continued, "I want you to know that Daisy is welcome as a member of my pack. Our family believes in protecting and supporting each other, no matter our differences."

Daisy's eyes widened in surprise, and a small smile crept onto her face, a glimmer of hope shining through. Her mother, too, seemed to soften, the initial fear replaced by a cautious sense of relief.

"Really?" she questioned, her voice filled with a mixture of curiosity and excitement.

Gertie nodded, her smile growing wider. "Yes. You're not alone, Daisy. There's a place where you can be yourself without fear."

Evelyn placed a protective arm around her daughter, but her expression was gratitude. "Thank you," she said to Gertie, her voice more robust now. "That means a lot to us."

The night's tension seemed to lift as they spoke, replaced by a sense of community and understanding. Gertie had extended an olive branch, offering a haven for Daisy and her mother, a gesture that resonated deeply with them.

In the background, the camp began to stir, the first light of dawn creeping over the horizon. The night's events brought unexpected challenges, new connections, and renewed hope. Daisy and her mother, once isolated by their secret, now found themselves embraced by a new, accepting family.

--

Gabriel stood at a distance, his eyes fixed on the scene unfolding before him. He watched as Garth, a familiar and friendly face in their community, arrived at the camp to pick up Gertie. The night had been long and fraught with danger, and Gertie's presence had been pivotal in ensuring the safety of many, including young Daisy.

As father and daughter exchanged words, Gabriel's thoughts were elsewhere, weighed down by a heavy burden. He knew about Chuck's intricate and ominous plans involving Gertie and Lucifer. The very thought sent a chill down his spine.

Chuck, once a figure of divine guidance, had become something entirely different, his intentions shrouded in darkness and mystery. Gabriel knew that whatever Chuck had in store for Gertie and Lucifer wasn't for their benefit. The thought of these young, innocent lives being manipulated by such a powerful being was deeply unsettling.

Standing there, Gabriel felt the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. He had to protect them to keep Chuck's plans from fruition. But the doubt lingered in his mind – could he stand against such a formidable force?
