Work Text:
A small business trip to Inazuma to discuss, well, business then upon returning back to Mondstadt Diluc had found himself with a new hyperfixation. The art of paper folding. Before he had to depart by boat to return home, Diluc wandered the streets of Inazuma City, marvelling at how beautiful everything looked with the fallen cherry blossom petals scattered across the ground. While looking around, a small stall caught his eye. It looked to be a small pop up stall, only stationed here for a limited time. On the stall was a display of little Origami animals. They were small yet every paper fold was delicate and Diluc felt like buying one as a little treat to himself. Though he thought it would be a tough decision, it didn't take long for him to instantly spot this favourite animal. An owl. With his limited knowledge on the Inazuman language he was able to buy the paper Owl and find out how it was made. The person who ran the stall handed Diluc a small book of instructions on how to make the origami animals, including the owls. Though the whole book was written in the Inazuman language, there was also diagrams to show what to do which Diluc found quite helpful. He did a quick little clap of joy as a stim, thinking about all the animals he could make.
Now back in Mondstadt, Diluc was sitting at the table in Dawn Winery, the book in front of him along with many, many owls he had made. With full concentration on his face, tongue slightly sticking out, Diluc carefully folded the paper as what was shown in the book once more.
“Everytime I come over to check on you there's always at least 15 more owls,” Adelinde placed down a glass of grape juice next to Diluc in one of the empty areas on the table. The hyperfocus mode Diluc was in made him not realise Adelinde was speaking to him until a little while later when he came out of the hyperfocus mode.
“Oh my, I didn't realise how many I had made,”
“They are quite cute, do you know what you are going to do with them all?”
Diluc thought about Adelinde’s question and realised he hadn't a clue what he was going to do.
“Perhaps I will send Wriothesley and Childe one. They liked the previous gifts I sent them so hopefully they will like a little paper Owl,”
Diluc loved Wriothesley and Childe so dearly and they loved him too. Each gift they received from him they cherished each one and was always excited for the next one.
He first started with Childe's letter, talking about personal things then talking about the origami owls. He decided to not only give Childe a paper Owl but also add some extras in the letter for Childe's family too.
The letter to Wriothesley Diluc also spoke about some personal things but also if anymore grape juice needed to be delivered to the Fortress of Meropide for Diluc made Dawn Winery a sponsor for the Pankration Ring. Adding some info on the origami owl at the end, Diluc placed two inside Wrio's letter. One for Wriothesley himself and one for Sigewinne.
He hoped Wriothesley and Childe loved their little handmade owls and sent off the letters, already anticipating the replies from the two men he loved.
