“Achoo!” Mikan sneezes while laying down on her bed. “I’m sorry.” She apologizes, before a soft laugh echoes through the room.
“No need to worry about that, Mikan-chan.” Mikan's boyfriend, Naegi Makoto says as he gets up from the chair he was sitting in and grabbing the small towel that was over her forehead.
“B-But… achoo!” The girl tries to protest, but her cold makes her sneeze once again. “Y-You had to h-help K-Kirigiri-san with h-her investigation didn’t you?” The dark-haired girl asks and Makoto laughs again.
“Yeah, but helping you get better comes first.” He puts on a freshly wet towel on her forehead, before moving his hand down and gently caressing her cheek. “I’d be a crappy boyfriend if I didn’t help ya out, wouldn’t I?” He closes his eyes and smiles.
Mikan can’t help but feel tears building up in her eyes. “T-Thank you, Makoto-kun…” The girl whispers, before sniffing softly.
In all her life, Mikan never received such kindness, to other people it might have been a natural thing to do, but to the troubled teen, the act of having someone truly care for her was unimaginable.
She brings her own hand to grasp his and closes her eyes, whispering a soft. “I love you Makoto-kun.”
Soon, Mikan feels her boyfriend’s soft lips touching hers in a short, but very lovely kiss.
“I love you too, Mikan-chan.” Makoto says, sitting at the edge of the bed and caressing her hair. “I’ll never let anyone hurt you again.” He whispers, before hearing his girlfriend’s soft snores as she drifts off to sleep.
Funny thing is, after Mikan got better, Makoto became sick, but that didn’t matter to the girl.
She would care and cherish him the same way he did for her.
