Work Text:
Another day at Powder, and a busy one at that. Today, a shipment of large weapons was scheduled to arrive. Viola had been looking forward to this delivery for a while. It was the RPGs and grenade launchers that her and Oleg had picked out and ordered together. Their stock had been missing that “Oomph” until now, since they had mostly been dealing in small arms so far. But with these new wares, they would be able to attract more potential customers to their business.
The former Morningstar was glad to have had the Russian man advise her during the selection process. She had little experience with such weapons. Her previous gang had only been equipped with light arms, explosives were more Killbane’s thing. Oleg, however, had experience and knew what to look out for when it came to rocket launchers and the likes, she trusted his expertise.
The former KGB agent also helped with the preparations for storing such weaponry. They had to construct special shelves and introduce new safety measures and regulations if they wanted to stock these types of guns and munition.
“That should be it;” Viola checked her clipboard as a big, armored truck entered the loading area behind the store.
Oleg and a bunch of workers had been waiting alongside her. They watched as the vehicle turned and backed up towards one of the many loading docks. But before they would open the garage door, they had to check the truck and the driver’s validity.
Viola took her clipboard that had all the relevant information on it to the driver who hopped out of the cabin. The man was wearing a bulletproof vest and had a weapon holstered on his hip.
“Hey there, ma’am, here to load off the cargo,” he greeted her.
“Welcome, I must ask you to please verify the shipping manifest before we can proceed,” she halted him.
The woman liked to do things by protocol, even if it made the process take longer. Doing it by the book was something that Kiki had taught her. This was a new driver, they hadn’t ordered from that company before. By now, she knew most of the drivers from their usual deliveries,
and they in turn knew how to act when arriving here. But with new drivers, she made it a point to instruct them on their procedures.
He read out the shipment’s ID, confirming that it was the correct supply, and then let her cross check the delivery note with her order.
After everything looked alright, she allowed him to open the tailgate so she could verify that everything she ordered was present and free from defects. He opened the rear of his truck and began unloading the cargo. Viola’s team got to work checking the pallets and boxes he had brought, making sure there were no damages or other deficiencies with the freight. The black haired woman checked off all the items that were accounted for on her clipboard to keep track. After a few minutes, the truck had been emptied and every piece of her order was confirmed.
The boxes were extremely heavy and the workers could only move them with lifting carts. They would need to use forklifts to properly store them in the warehouse. Oleg, however, was once again proving his strength. The giant man was able to pick up and carry a pallet that normal people needed machines for all by himself. He was perfect for the job, not only did he have extensive knowledge of the wares they sold, he was also strong enough to work in storage.
In the time that the crew fetched a forklift to move a single crate, Oleg had already moved three of them into the warehouse and secured them on one of the sturdy, reinforced shelves.
Viola appreciated his help during the time they had been working together. At first she had been hesitant, feeling that he still held resentment towards her for the past. And she had been right. When Oleg began to aid her at Powder, the Russian had clearly not forgiven her for her role in his captivity at the hands of the Syndicate. But over time, she was able to show him that she was a changed person. The former Morningstar had tried to make amends for her past actions by treating him like family, accommodating his every need during his time here, and he seemed to recognize and appreciate that.
They had managed to put their animosity behind them. Now they were a great team that worked extremely efficiently together.
It had been the Boss’ plan all along when she assigned Oleg to help out. It was important to the red haired woman that her crew got along.
And of course, she had a personal interest in making sure Viola wasn't in any danger of someone within her ranks seeking revenge.
But that was easier said than done. Unfortunately, the Russian was not the only Saint that had been wronged by the business woman in the past.
