“Yo, I’m going to get changed, I’ll be right back.”
Touya looked up from his phone to look at Akito.
“Oh, alright.” He gave him a soft smile.
That smile made Akito’s heart burn. Of course, it was the same smile Touya had on his stupidly pretty face whenever he greeted him, but it always made his heart flutter.
Part of him was reluctant to leave his spot; the bed was just so comfortable, and his leaning into Touya made it even better. He was tired, and frankly, he hadn’t had the best day, but he was starting to get too hot. Reluctantly, Akito got up from the bed, grabbed a T-Shirt and headed to the bathroom.
He sloppily removed his hoodie and threw the shirt on before making his way back to the room.
Touya was in the same spot, resting against the headboard, waiting for Akito. Akito gave Touya a smile, but he didn’t return it.
It took a moment for Akito to realize he wasn’t looking up at Akito’s face.
He was looking down somewhere— his arms.
Akito immediately crossed his arms, trying to cover them. Touya’s gaze moved up to Akito.
“Ah, sorry. I wasn’t trying to stare.” He apologized.
“No, no. It’s uh… not your fault. I can just put the hoodie back on.” Akito raised the hoodie over his head, but was stopped.
“Wait, please don’t. I wasn’t trying to make you uncomfortable. I’m sorry, Akito.”
Akito squeezed his arms.
“Don’t apologize. These…they’re old anyways, they just don’t fade like some of the other ones.”
Touya knew about Ena’s little fits of rage, but he’d seen the marks before. These, however, were different. Akito’s arms had blotches of dark marks over them.
“Is that why you usually wear hoodies?”
Akito made his way to the bed, sitting next to Touya instead of where he was before.
“Yeah. It’s ‘cause the scars look weird.” Akito frowned a little.
“I get that, but I think they show how strong you are.” Touya, facing Akito, tucked a piece of hair behind his ear.
Akito gave a shrug.
“Eh, they’re from a not so strong time.”
Touya frowned, understanding what the scars were from.
“Earlier, someone asked me about them. They asked ‘why is their a heart on your arm?’ I just sort of stood there.” Akito crossed his arms again.
“A heart?”
Touya had gotten a small glimpse of his arms, but once he realized Akito’s discomfort, he stopped looking.
“…I uh. I used to make shapes on my arms. I made a heart once, and I…I guess I cut it too deep, ‘cause it’s still there.”
It took Akito a moment to realize how much he was sharing with Touya. But somehow, he felt safe. He felt comfortable being vulnerable with Touya. He took a deep breath.
“The…the rest are burns. They’re from a really long time ago, but everyone stares at them. Before I covered them, it was sort of the only thing people noticed about me.”
Touya turned himself so the two were facing each other. He reached out, taking Akito’s hands into his own.
“Well, if they see you for anything less, they’re wrong, Akito. You’re beautiful no matter what.”
Touya gently lifted Akito’s right arm to his face, leaving a gentle kiss on his wrist, where a small burn mark was. He turned his arm around, leaving another kiss on his elbow where another mark was.
Without waiting for Akito’s reaction, he swaps arms, bringing Akito’s left arm to his face. Just like the last, he begins trailing kisses over the other burn marks.
Now, he’s kissed all of the marks. He spots the heart on Akito’s forearm, and gives it multiple kisses before setting Akito’s arms down.
He looks up at Akito.
“Touya…”
Akito felt himself tear up.
He hated crying, especially around people, but with Touya, he just felt safe. He felt like he could truly feel vulnerable around him. He’d never told anyone about his arms, as they’ve always been his biggest insecurity, but here he was. He couldn’t stop the tears from falling.
Squeezing Touya’s hands, he leaned forward into his chest to hide his face.
“I love you so much.” He whispered.
“I love you too, Akito.”
