Maria the mirror did not like how people saw themselves whenever they gazed upon her and saw their reflection staring back. So she decided to do something about it and write a compliment for every person who looked upon her.
She wanted the messages to look as non threatening as possible; So at night, while everyone else was asleep she would practice writing different kinds of notes in all different kinds of fonts till she found the right one.
The next morning after pulling an all nighter to figure out the perfect font, Maria was very tired and was worried her efforts were for nothing. This was until Victoria showed up. Victoria had recently gotten a new haircut and was worried about what her friends might think so she decided to go up to the mirror and look at herself. Maria really liked her haircut and so she wrote to Victoria on the glass that she “really liked how her hair style framed her face”. Victoria was so happy with the compliment that she told everyone she knew about Maria. Soon word spread and everyone knew about Maria the complimenting Mirror. People showed up from everywhere to visit Maria and get a compliment from her.
One day Scott was having a really bad day and nothing was going his way. He did not think anything was ever going to go well for him, but that changed when he looked upon Maria. Maria wrote to him that “I can see that you are a bright force in the world that elevates those around you”. He was so moved by what Maria had said to him he decided to compliment the people around him, making their days brighter.
Inspired by the notes Maria the mirror had left for people on herself other people started leaving little sticky notes everywhere. All different kinds of notes like words of encouragement, little drawings, funny sayings, questions for people to answer and all different kinds of notes like that. Maria was happy that something she did sparked creativity in others.
She noticed a change in people and the environment after these notes started. Everything seemed brighter, people were talking to each other, meeting people they have never met before. They were helping each other out, and the world seemed like it was a better place than before.
