Work Text:
Sand was tired. This party, the police, Ray... Especially Ray. It all exhausted him.
He hated looking at the saccharine way of Ray looking at Mew. He hated being treated like a toy for Ray, for him to play, whenever he wanted.
He hated being the only one who cares.
If not for Nick, he won't even think about going to this fucking party. But for Nick... Well, there wasn't a lot of things that he wouldn't do for Nick, especially after his last fuck up.
He goes for Nick to cheer him up, to let him get his chance at talking with Boston, to (maybe) let Nick get his closure.
He didn't know, if any of his goals were achieved, but he suspected that it all goes to hell. Basing on the way Nick was leaning against his side for most of the walk to Nick's car, which they took to get to the party, as well as their climb to the apartment, his work goes in vain.
Nick's pretty brown eyes were clouded by disappointment, a little sad, but knowing, like he was ready for the outcome of his attempt to smooth things out with Boston.
And Sand hated it.
Nick was a sunshine. He, Ray, Boston and rest of this crew were mostly shitheaded, sarcastic assholes. But Nick... Nick was different.
He believed in love, he was a smiley sweetheart... Or at least he was before.
He tries to fix his mistakes, he tries to apologise, even if it was Sand who fucked up and published a video.
"Care for a drink?" Sand took two glasses and pour them full of his plumb wine, but Nick shook his head in negation and sigh. Sitting down next to him on their sofa, Sand smiled encouragingly, trying to make Nick talk.
Nick was a chatter box, he like to go through his feelings with words, it always made him feels better. In that way, he was completely opposite to Sand, who prefers to sit down and think, maybe write his thoughts down into the song.
"Am I really that bad? I only wanted to apologise, I never wanted to pressure him into forgiving me or taking me back, and still... He treated me like a fool, like air actually... I know that what I've done was fucked up, but I wanted to say how sorry I am, it's a bad thing? I don't need his forgiveness. He might hate me forever, but I wanted to..." Fix it, yeah, Sand knew that. Nick's teary eyes didn't helped his own shitty mood, but that was case for later, right now he need to help his friend feel better.
"Nick, I don't think that trying to fix your mistakes is something bad" Sand put his arm around Nick's shoulders, hugging him gently. "For what it's worth I should be the one apologising to him" Nick's head shot up with distraught expression, making him chuckle.
"No, listen to me. I won't do that, I regret to expose them like that, but I won't apologise. Call me coward, but you... You are anything but that. You are strong, you're brave and you're beautiful. And you will find a guy who will appreciate it. You just need to take a breath and understand, that this person is not Boston. I was shitty friend lately, but this guy would be a shitty boyfriend - period. And you deserve to be the one and only, because this shit talk, when you told me you don't care about him fucking other people... Well, sunshine, you do, you do care" this told Sand took a long drag from his cigarette and let out a smoke in little circles making Nick giggle.
It was a small laugh, but a laugh no less so Sand felt proud of himself.
Maybe he wasn't such a shitty friend in the end.
"Have you ever thought about joining a drama club, or a discussion one? You would totally rule it" Nick laughed again and launched himself back, when Sand put his fingers into his side.
"I'm an artist! Of course I have my way with words" Sand countered not stopping with the movement of his fingers, happy with the way Nick's face smoothed out with laughter.
"Okay, okay, mister artist. Let me go and give me this drink" Nick wheezed out, voice strangled with all the laughter, even if his eyes were still more sad than not. He drank half of the glass in one go, then started to wrestle with his bowtie.
"Hot, it's too hot in here" Sand left his own glass on the table and move to help Nick with his task, pushing Nick's hands out of the way and loosening the bowtie with his own clumsy fingers. Somehow taking it of was harder task than tying it some hours prior. Maybe because of the drinks he had on the party or simple distraction, he just couldn't figure it out right way.
"Ouch" he let out a high pitched sound, when something stung him on arm. Nick snapped his head up and look at him in worry.
"It's probably the bracelet" Sand moved his hands from silky material of Nick's red bowtie and moved them to unclasp the spiked leather from his bicep. It didn't work, his fingers slipping from the snap, until Nick took up the task and unclasped it with ease. For Sand left nothing more than make last move that untied Nick's bowtie, before he got caught with the clear view of Nick's lips.
It was like sudden strike of sunshine, because one moment he was considering how beautiful his friend's lips actually are and the next he was bowing down and catching the lower lip between his own.
Nick's breath hitched, but he hasn't moved away, so Sand considered it a win. But after a second of probably the softest kiss he ever had, Sand got struck with the thought that it was Nick, his best friend and they just shouldn't do that.
This was the most stable relationship he has in his life right now and he just couldn't screw it up.
Moving his head back slowly, to not startle Nick or make him feel like his proximity was unwelcome, Sand put his hands on Nick's forearms smiling gently. Nick's eyes were still shut tight, brows furrowed, like he couldn't face the reality of their kiss.
"Sand? Did you called me beautiful somewhere in the middle of your speech?" Sand just hummed in affirmative way, trying really hard to not freak out right now. "Did you mean it?" Sand hummed again, but then decided against non verbal response.
"Yes, you are. You're beautiful, Nick" he said more sure about that, than of anything he said this night.
"Kiss me again?" Nick still hasn't opened his eyes, but Sand nods either way. It's not like he didn't want to. Nick lips were just too inviting to not want to kiss them again. His worries washed away with the drag of Nick's tongue on his own lips and then they were making out like teenagers on their couch. Nick's back hits the pillow under him, Sand catching the back of Nick's head in his hand before he could butt it on the armrest.
"Sand, please... Please?" Whatever Nick was asking for, Sand was ready to give him. He didn't know when it happened but he goes from zero to fully hard within seconds from just some kissing and groping over clothes.
And Nick... Nick looked so beautiful under him.
Neck decorated with hickeys, with most of buttons undone, hair in disarray. So, so pretty...
"Hey, love, look at me" Sand asked gently, barely in control of the shaking of his voice. Nick opened his eyes, different light burning inside of them and he was breathing hard, looking completely undone by Sand. He had done it, he made Nick feel like this. He was looking like this because of Sand.
"You need to tell me, Nick. Tell me what you want" Sand said, forgetting about everything other than the look in Nick's eyes. Ray, Boston and all that drama... Well, it still was creeping somewhere in the back of his mind, cause he couldn't stop thinking about every other way he could find to make Nick feel better about this night.
"Saand" Nick whined, pulling him down, trying to make Sand kiss him again, but Sand had none of that. He needed full consent, then he could be happy to fuck the sadness out of Nick's body, making him fuel on endorphins.
"Tell me" Sand bit on the skin on Nick's supply pec, making him moan.
"Kiss me, fuck me, blow my mind... Just please!" Sand smirked against Nick's chest, holding himself from cooing good boy out loud, before he proceeded to doing everything he was told to.
But only after discarding Nick's blazer and button up somewhere on the floor of their living room, lifting his new lover's body in bridal way and kicking the door of his own bedroom behind them. He needed soft sheets, pillows and a bed for what he was planning to do.
He had told Nick that he deserve more than he was getting from his past lovers and he was planning to prove that.
Getting a boyfriend out of it wasn't exactly in his plans for this night, but he wasn't complaining.
Even a year after that night, the only thing he was able to think about was how beautiful Nick's eyes were shining that night, safe and sated under the moonlight. It was the night when "Galaxies" song was born and he could never be happier than with his little galaxies baby boyfriend.
