Work Text:
The party had been going for hours already before Crowley arrived.
It was some university gathering at the bookshop, Aziraphale had invited some of his fellow professors what he called a "late night cap" which was a much nicer way of saying a night of drinking wine and gossiping like old women.
Crowley was invited too of course, the angel had left a message on her answering machine a couple of days ago, saying how delighted he'd be if she could stop by, just for a couple of hours.
She didn't have anything to do tonight, she'd figure she'd show up and get to doing some mischief under her angel's nose.
She had the perfect dress just for the occasion.
A short black dress she bought just for this.
Don't ever say Crowley is never prepared.
Once hair and makeup was done she was out of the door and into the Bentley.
The bookshop was bright and alive by the time she got there, her dress had slid up from the leather seats.
Perfect.
She was right, walking into the room it was filled with boring old men, a few women scattered here and there but it was a majority of old men.
The great environment for temptation.
The music didn't stop once she walked in but the men definitely stopped what they were doing to look at her.
Her golden snake earring dancing on her face, her long red hair moving along with the music in the room and her black glasses feeding into the image of sensual mystery.
Quickly her little black number does its job and she quickly finds a man standing in her way.
He's old and rail thin, in a way that makes him hunch down and look a lot older than he probably is.
"Good evening madam" he says as he kisses the back of her hand leaving spit all over it "I don't believe I've seen you ever before in the faculty, I would remember you for sure"
"I'm sure you would" she replies cleaning his slob on her hand with a napkin, not even trying to be subtle about her disgust "and no I don't work at the university"
"Oh" he says, grabbing an empty glass and filling it with wine, before handing it over to her, she doesn't take it "would that mean that, you're the... entertainment for the night? I didn't think professor Fell-"
At this she laughs, loudly. Of course a professor with several sexual harassment complains from a lot of young students would think that a beautiful woman in a tight black dress is a sex worker.
Men were never the smartest of God creations, she'd say.
"Wouldn't you wish that" she says as she puts her hand on his chin, softly "And even if I was-" she comes closer, her grip stronger, her nails sharp on soft human skin "you could never afford me"
His eyes are scared. Good, he should be.
She drops his chin and pushes him out of the way, she can see Aziraphale sitting on a comfortable single brown couch while speaking enthusiastically with what seems to be other professors.
"-Well that's really the question is it? Is Jane Eyre a more time adapted piece of The Professor because of its rejection or did it-"
"Angel" she doesn't need to be loud for him to hear her, this she knows.
The entire room turns for a second, the gaze of the entire academic room turns to her, the lust and jealousy both bothersome and exciting in equal parts.
Her angel on the other hand, his smile alone could rival the sun itself.
"Crowley, my darling" she will rather be burnt from the inside out with holy water than to ever admit the rush and blush that every term of endearment does to her "I'm so happy you could make it"
"I could never say no to you, could I angel?"
"And thank the heavens for that" he grabs her left hand and slowly touches her fingertips "I fear to think of a world where I wouldn't see you again"
What can she say in response to that?
"Professor Fell-" They're interrupted by a young blonde woman, long hair and simple black blazer and pants "I don't think you've introduced your friend"
Jealousy drips off of her, she pushes her free hand around her angel's hips. The blond woman now looks seething, Crowley rejoices in her hatred.
"Oh goodness! No I did not, how rude of me" His laughter sound like the highest of angels chorus, a holy song amongst the scandalized silence of his peers "This is my partner, Crowley"
"Enchanté" her red lipstick around her smiles cracks as she feeds off the underlying astonished looks in the room.
These people are truly pieces of work, her angel deserves better than these elitist assholes.
"You've never mentioned you were in a relationship" says another man with brown hair in a red suit.
"I'd think that's rather personal, don't you think?" Her patience is running thin, these humans are starting to piss her off.
"Oh- I didn't mean it like-" he starts once he looks at her fully, something unnatural hiding under her gaze.
But before she can seed true fear into his nightmares a hand goes up her naked arm and she lets her eyes fall back into the peaceful waves of the angel holding her as a willing captive.
"I understand, but you must also know I'm a private man, I like to keep my personal affairs to myself, doctor Reubens" his hands soft velvet touch on her arm, comfort in an endless fire.
"My apologies professor, of course I understand"
"No apologies necessary, but I've never mentioned my partner because I've never felt the need for it, we've been partners for so long I feel like I've never known anything else.
Oh hellfire could swallow her now and she wouldn't know.
"How romantic professor" a young man in a plaid suit says from the back of the room "No wonder the man with such strong feelings about love stories lives in his own"
"Nothing that romantic I'm afraid, but I am content in what I have"
"And what would old Jane say about this angel?" She whispers just to make him blush.
"Quite a few words I'm sure my dear" he replies as he leaves her arm but keeps touching her hand and sits back down on his chair "but oh-"
"What is it angel?"
"There's no more chairs for you, let me just-" just as he's getting up she pushes him back down with a single hand.
"No need for that" she climbs up his lap, her dress running up her thighs, his hand coming up her waist holding her up "I'm quite comfortable right here with you"
His eyes stare up at her, not just with undying love, but also fire, lust and desire, as he slowly traces her body under the rather thin black dress.
No one is surprised when the party ends earlier than discussed.
And also Crowley has to buy a new dress.
