The backyard's full of bones

Summary:

Everyone in the coven knew about the Cursed Book that was chained in the depths of the sacred cave. It was this grimoire that gave them deep knowledge of nature, potions and spells. Despite the common knowledge of the book's existence, since reading the book came with accepting its curse, the coven gave the position of book holder and Reader to only one chosen witch. Said witch would be the only one to even come close to the book during their lifetime.

The coven has had many Readers over time, their lives not lasting very long due to the Book's curse. But this time the book feels what they will call curiosity (for now) for their human holder. The only human they will see for a while, but how long will that be?

-------
"[About books], a receptacle of powers not to be ruled by a human mind, a treasure of secrets emanated by many minds, surviving the death of those who had produced them or had been their conveyors.”

― Umberto Eco, The Name of the Rose

Notes:

You wanted LADIES!! (Yeah!) Hope you like these two :3

The witch/druid I called Briar, and the book is called "Systema naturæ: per regna tria naturæ, secundum classes, ordines, genera, species, cum characteribus, differentiis, synonymis, locis" JUST KIDDING! (That book came out like in the 1700s and is not cursed to the extent of my knowledge) I think she should be called either Amarantha or Linnea but I can't choose.

Title from the song "Curses" by the Crane Wives

Notes:

For inspiration I did some research on cursed books and cursed grimoires, but at the end, when I think of cursed books, the book that comes to my mind is "Peri poietikês" by Aristoteles (its not cursed in real life, but its an important part in "The Name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco and in that story... well, it is kind of cursed if you ask me).
