Work Text:

Ruby smiled watching as Weiss spun around a little looking at herself in the mirror. She was inspecting every inch she could find, something she had done twice over by now.

Today was her big day after all. Weiss and Yang were getting married.

She had received call after call and emails from the woman asking opinions and venting. It's not that Ruby minded much at all.

"Weiss you're going to make yourself dizzy, your dress is stunning." Ruby said, watching as the woman jumped just a little. "You've been at it for an hour, come sit down for just a little catch your breath."

Weiss gave a small nod turning to step away from the mirror, as she carefully sat down on the couch she let out a sigh rubbing her hands together.

"Everything okay?" Ruby asked, adjusting herself on the couch to look at the woman.

"Just… nervous I guess?" Weiss whispered her knee shaking a little.

"You're not getting cold feet are you?" The redhead asked, immediately getting a shake of the head.

"Dust no… I want to marry her. I've… thought about this day for a long time. That first dumb smile on her face…" She said pinching the bridge of her nose getting a small laugh from the redhead next to her.

"Don't you laugh at me!" Weiss said, giving an empty glare at her partner. "I just… you know when you meet that one person and it just feels like they are the one? Everyone is always so afraid to ever say that nowadays… but when I first met Yang I just… I felt it." She paused feeling Ruby wrap her arm around her leaning into the woman.

"Do you think Yang feels that way? God I feel like I'm going to be sick… I'm so nervous." Weiss said, resting her face in her hands.

"Relax Weiss, take a deep breath." Ruby whispered, rubbing her back. "I don't think you understand the way Yang talks about you or how she looks at you. It makes me happy that out of everyone Yang is with you… she thinks you're the whole world… maybe even the universe. Back at Signal Yang used to be… wild, not to say she isn't now but she's definitely mellowed out quite a bit. When I walked into her room… after everything that happened at Beacon and I saw her holding your hand like no tomorrow, I knew. You're the anchor Yang needed in her life."

Weiss took a deep breath nodding slowly as she rested her hands on her knees. "Thank you Ruby. I really needed that."

"I know." Ruby said, smiling as she bumped her shoulder into Weiss'.

"You know I'd believe it if she was also freaking out right now as well."

Much to Ruby's assumption Yang was indeed freaking out…just a little bit.

"Has she… been walking back and forth like this since I left?" Tai asked, pointing to his daughter watching as she walked back and forth with her eyes to the floor.

Blake nodded leaning against the wall with a sigh. "She has, I've tried to get her to talk to me… but she's just muttering to herself." She said looking over to Tai, a frown tugging at her lips.

Tai gave a nod watching Yang walk back and forth for a few moments before looking back to Blake. "Why don't you… go check on the others. I'm going to see what's wrong with her."

The faunus gave a small thumbs up getting up from the bed before making her way out of the room, leaving Tai and Yang alone.

The man stared at Yang for a moment before he sighed, reaching out and resting a hand on the blonde's shoulder making her stop.

"You're going to burn a hole into the ground… not that you haven't done that before."

Yang gave a small snort at that, shaking her head before sighing.

"Why don't we sit down? I might not be the best at talking, but you seem to have something on your mind." He pointed to the bed tilting his head watching as Yang gave a reluctant sigh before going over and sitting down.

"So little dragon, what's on your mind?"

The blonde shook her head at the nickname shaking her head as she rested both of her elbows on her knees, she clasped her hands together taking a deep breath. "I just… there is a lot… I don't know where to start."

Tai rested his hand on her back giving her shoulder a light squeeze. "How about one thing at a time then? Are you nervous about today?"

"Nervous is an understatement." Yang whispered, closing and opening her hand, her knee starting to shake.

"Getting married is a big thing, it's the next step in your life." He paused for a moment before continuing. "What's got you so nervous, I haven't seen you this nervous… since I actually don't know when-"

"Weiss is pregnant." She whispered resting her forehead on top of her hands, her eyes squeezed shut as her knee continued to bounce. She could still feel her dad's hand on her shoulder as he thought about what she just had told him. "Before you ask, it was all planned… It's my child."

Tai took a deep breath squeezing her shoulder again. "When did…"

"We found out yesterday… Weiss hasn't been feeling well the past few days, so she took a test yesterday morning… and well." Yang took a deep breath sitting up, setting her hands on her knees.

"Is that the reason for all the stress?" He asked, watching as she nodded slowly.

"I… when we talked about it all… I loved the idea… seeing everyone's kids, I thought about that for Weiss and I. We talked about it and we started the planning with Winter's help…" She paused running a hand through her hair. "But…what if…" Yang sighed as Tai gave another squeeze.

"What Yang?"

"What if I'm just like her. " She whispered, pinching the bridge of her nose. "What if… My child hates me as much as I hate her."

Tai frowned, sighing for a moment before Yang continued. "I know that I'm not like her at all… all my life I wanted nothing to do with her… and yet the moment Weiss told me I just, I haven't been able to not think about that."

"Did you tell Weiss about what you were thinking?" He asked, getting another shake of the head.

"I would talk to her… but Yang, you'll never be Raven. You're my Sunny little dragon who happens to be one of the strongest people I know. Both you and Ruby… I'm proud of you both and I can see in the both of you, that you are finding your own way. But you are nothing like her, I've told you that before and I'll continue to tell you. If anything you're a lot like me… and that scares me sometimes," He paused, laughing a little, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "But I also see Summer, I see so much of her in you."

Yang looked over to Tai wiping a single tear falling. "I know this child will love you and Weiss more than anything in the world. I see the way you are with Liliana and Gabriel and I couldn't be more proud." He said ruffling her hair a little, getting a sound of protest from her.

She took a deep breath giving him a smile before nodding. "Thank you… all the nerves of today, and finding out yesterday. It's got me all stressed."

Tai nodded, patting her on the shoulder before standing up. "It's alright, it's normal to be nervous…added with finding out you're going to be a mom. I remember finding out when I was going to be having you and Ruby, I almost fainted both times." He said as a knock came from the door before Ruby peeked her head in looking at the two.

"Blake said Yang was stressed…?"

Tai smiled looking down at the blonde before holding his hand out, Yang accepted it standing up with a smile. "She's good, you know…wedding day stress."

The redhead stared at the two squinting her eyes at both of them for a moment before shaking her head. "You're telling me…well if you're ready then everything is pretty much good to go." She said as Yang walked out of the room wrapping her arm around Ruby's shoulder.

"I'm ready to go get hitched." She said looking back at her dad with a grin.

He watched as they disappeared down the hall before he shook his head, he looked down at Yang's nightstand seeing a picture of both Yang and Ruby as little kids covered in paint making him smile following after the two.

Something tapped behind him making him look to the window, a small raven sat there moving its head before it tilted to the side, its red eyes staring at him.

He let out a sigh frowning before he walked out of the room following them.

Yang took a deep breath rubbing her hands together and she looked out to the handful of people, they set up a few rows of benches for guests to sit at. She felt someone pat her back before looking at her dad, both gave each other a smile.

“Still good?”

The blonde nodded, patting his shoulder. She looked over to Ruby who shifted on her feet giving Yang a smile as well.

The sound of music started, at it Yang took a deep breath looking up towards the end of the aisle. The door to the cabin opened before Weiss and Winter walked through. Her eyes went straight to Weiss, as she saw the woman she felt a tightness in her chest.

This was the first time she had seen Weiss in the dress that she picked out, and she looked wonderful in it. It was a strapless dress that was fully white until you got closer to the bottom, where it faded into a royal blue.
“Don’t forget to breathe there kiddo.” Tai said leaning closer to the woman, who finally took a breath.

She could feel a small sting behind her eyes as she met Weiss', a smile tugged on her face as the two got closer.

As Winter and Weiss made it to the altar, Winter gave Weiss a kiss on her cheek before looking at Yang, she shook the blonde's hand. As Yang took Weiss hand she felt a weight lift off her shoulders, a warmth in her chest.

I'm ready.

"Look at him." Ruby whispered, giving a small pout at the baby in Pyrrha's arms. "He's so precious."

The little baby stared at the redhead sticking his tongue out making her laugh. "How has he been?"

Pyrrha smiled, running her finger along Dante's cheek. "It's been a rollercoaster I feel some days. One day he's all happy and the next it's like nothing makes him happy." The woman said letting out a small groan Jaune giving a smile rubbing her back.

"I honestly don't know how you and Blake do it, let alone two kids." Jaune said.

Ruby smiled looking over at Blake who was observing the baby in the redheads arms. "I honestly couldn't have done it without Blake, some days were just…harsh. But look how cute he is…his eyes are so blue." She cooed lightly, tapping the baby's nose.

"Careful she just might steal him." Yang said as she came up behind her sister wrapping her arm around the redhead looking down at the baby in her arms.

"You're one to talk, every chance you get you want to steal Liliana and Gabriel…speaking of them." She paused looking at Blake.

"Outside with mom."

Yang hummed, patting Ruby's shoulder grabbing one of the seats at the table as both her and Weiss sat down. "I mean, they are adorable and I would steal them all the time if you two lived closer." The blonde said, wrapping her arm around Weiss' shoulder.

"Glad to know, I'll remember that." Ruby said, sticking her tongue out.

"So does it feel different, now that you two are officially married?" Blake asked, resting her chin in the palm of her hand, everyone at the table looking at them.

"It…I can't tell if I'm being honest." Weiss said looking at Yang who gave her a goofy grin making her laugh. "It all went so quick, still trying to process it all, it was nice to share the moment with everyone."

"Nora and Ren do share their congratulations also, Nora is due to give birth any day now and traveling for them wasn't ideal." Pyrrha said, giving them a smile.

"You know I never thought I would see the Ice queen smile so much." Jaune said, feeling a swift kick in his shin. "I deserved that." He groaned, getting a few laughs from everyone.

"Ice queen." Weiss muttered shaking her head. "Thank you however," She started looking at everyone around the table before resting her hand on Yang's. "For being here."

"Now this technically means you and I are sisters." Ruby said, clasping her hands together dancing in her seat. "Not that we weren't already."

Blake simply shook her head smiling at Ruby before she raised her glass. "How about a toast, to the newlyweds."

Everyone raised their glasses and smiles on their faces as they did. "To the newlyweds!"

Weiss let out a huff closing the door behind her before taking a deep breath at the fresh air, looking around the porch she found who she was looking for a smile tugging at her lips.

"So this is where you ran off to." She said walking over to where the woman was sitting.

"I just needed some fresh air for a little bit." Yang whispered, taking a small sip from her glass before she gestured to Weiss. The woman rolled her eyes a little, slipping out of the heels she was wearing joining Yang on the rocking chair, cuddling close to the woman on her lap.

While it wasn't a cold night, the warmth that radiated off of the blonde made Weiss hum at the feeling.

"So…I told my dad." Yang said letting out a small laugh as she leaned down kissing the top of the woman's head.

Hearing this Weiss sat up a little looking at the blonde. "Oh?"

"Yeah…I…" She let out a sigh running a hand through her hair. "I was freaking out…a little. Not about marrying you, you being pregnant. I mean not that you being pregnant is a bad thing I just-" Yang stopped when Weiss rested her hand on the blonde's cheek.

"Breath Yang, you're fine. I knew you were worried by the look on your face when I told you yesterday."

Yang sighed resting her hand on Weiss leaning into it as she closed her eyes. "I just…I got scared for a moment. I talked about it with my dad…and it's been playing like a broken record in my head ever since you told me. What if I'm like her ?"

Weiss frowned, shifting herself sitting properly on Yang's lap. "You do know that's not true," Weiss started before resting her hand on her stomach. "This child is going to love you, and I know you'll love this child just as much…maybe even more."

The blonde nodded, resting her hands on the woman's hips looking up at her with a smile. "I promise, I promise myself and to you…to be a damn good mother."

"You'll be the best."

Ruby let out a small sigh slipping the rose out from under her cloak leaning down resting it on the gravestone. A small smile tugging on her lips as her eyes scanned over the engraved letters.

"Hey mom! It's been a little bit. I know Yang will probably come visit eventually, she just got married today!" The redhead shifted in her stance looking up out to the forest beyond the cliff. "You'd be proud of her…she looked so happy. I'm happy for her. She even had me cut her hair too not that long ago."

She paused at the sound of a tree branch snapping behind her, her hand going to Crimson Rose on her belt as she spun around.

Nothing was there, just the forest where she came from. Not a single Grimm in sight. A caw behind her made her jump a little as she spun back around facing her mother's grave, a raven sitting on top of the stone.

She let go of the weapon taking a deep breath. The raven looked at her for a little before it flew away.

Ruby let out another sigh looking back at the grave stone. "I wish you were here to see it mom…it was beautiful."

"Having fun out here kiddo?" She heard behind her making her jump, turning she found Qrow smiling at her as he walked up to the headstone. His eyes went to the flower she had set before he looked back at her.

"You disappeared, figured you would be here." He said, wrapping his arm around her shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. Ruby hummed leaning more into him letting her head fall to his shoulder.

"I wanted to visit her and tell her the good news, it's been a little since I visited her."

Qrow gave a small nod taking a deep breath. "It's been a little since I've been out here too I'll be honest. We should head back, it's starting to get a little dark."

Ruby smiled looking at Summer's grave for a few moments more before she turned with the man, his arm still around her shoulder.

"You know…I still can't believe Yang let you cut her hair, no fire at all?"

"Right? None at all…I was afraid she was going to burn my house down."

They both laughed as they disappeared into the treeline going back to the Rose Xiao-Long cabin.
