Work Text:
Jay stood on his knees at the shore. Slowly, but forcefully, the waves moved closer to him. The water runs through his fingers in the sand. He clutches his hands closed, just to hold the ocean a little longer, but like the sea does, she drips through his fingers like she was never even there.
“I miss you,” he says.
As always, he receives no response.
He tells her about his day. He gives her updates on their family. He finds every possible topic to talk to her about. When the clouds become greyer and thunder roars closer, he takes it as his time to leave.
He tells her goodbye. He tells her he loves her.
The sea is silent. The waves push forward.
“I love you too,” Nya wishes to say.
