Don't Leave

Chapter Text

“Hajime?” Shun whispered. When there was no response from the bed, he took a hesitant step further into the room.

“Hajime?” Another half-step. “Ha- Haji-nii?”

There was no movement, and Shun turned back to his own room. It was alright, he would let Hajime sleep.

Hajime stirred and woke at the sound of the door closing. He rolled to look over his shoulder. “Shun?” He asked sleepily. There was no response.

“Shun, did you come into my room last night?” Hajime asked in the middle of paperwork.

Shun blinked and laughed awkwardly. “Is Hajime dreaming of me now? I’ve dreamed of Hajime many times, but-”

“Shun.” Hajime’s interruption was firm but gentle. Shun felt the smirk fall from his face.

“Ha- hai.” Hajime simply nodded and turned back to his work.

“Bad dream?” He asked after a minute. Shun faltered. “Mn.”

“Why didn’t you wake me?” Hajime’s voice was still gentle. “Or just join me?”

The White Prince turned away. “Haji-nii was sleeping,” he murmured. “I didn’t want to disturb you.”

“Disturb me next time, Shun.” Shun looked up into Hajime’s soft smile, and felt his mouth curve into a hesitant answer. “But-”

“Shun.” Shun closed his mouth. “Would you want me to leave, instead of waking you?” Shun shook his head, eyes wide, about to protest - why was Haji-nii’s smile sad? An arm around Shun’s shoulders, pulling him close, cut off any reply.

“The bed is big enough for two, Ototo, and I don’t sleep that heavily.” Hajime murmured into Shun’s hair. Shun snuggled closer.

“Alright.”

“Promise me, Shun.”

“I promise.”
