So, yesterday, I have finally began watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer on television. Ever since I read some of Aragorn II Elessar and Bl4ckHunter's Buffy fics, I've been interested to watch this show and learn about the world. I've also played the tie-in video game, Chaos Bleeds, on my PS2 emulator and it's very good action-adventure game, as it also helped me learn about the world and its characters, such as Buffy, Xander, Anya, Tara, Willow and Kakistos. I want to thank both Aragorn and Bl4ckHunter for introducing me to this show, since I've never grown up watching it when I was younger.
This fic takes place near the end of "The Harvest", when Buffy comes back home after defeating The Master's forces.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Buffyverse. It belongs to 20th Century Fox and Joss Whedon.
Summer Residence, 1630 Revello Drive, Sunnydale
Having foiled The Master's plans to return to the living world by killing his vessel, Luke, and preventing the Harvest, Buffy Summers had decided to return home, as she didn't her mother to be worried about her. Though Joyce had told her not to leave the house, Buffy didn't have a choice as The Harvest was getting closer, and had she remained, it would have been the end of the world. Now that she had stopped The Master's plans, Buffy thought of going back to her room and pretending none of her adventures had happened, instead telling to her mother she had went to a nun club.
Heading back to her house, which was a two-story Craftsman styled house located in 1630 Revelo Drive, where she had moved in with her mother after arriving in Sunnydale, Buffy locked the door by pushing it and entered the living room. Seeing the lights were turned off and believing her mother was asleep, Buffy slowly sneaked in, not wanting to make any sounds. She slowly walked up the stairs to the upper floor where her bedroom was located and upon reaching the floor, she reached to her bedroom door. Upon opening the door, Buffy entered the room and tuned on the lights, before turning around and letting out a gasp upon seeing her mother in her room, standing there with her arms crossed, catching her by surprise. The last thing Buffy expected was getting called out by her mother for sneaking out.
"Mom!" Buffy exclaimed in a shocked tone.
"Where have you been?" Joyce demanded.
"I, um, I was at..." Buffy had no idea what to say as she was surprised by her mother's appearance. "I was at a nun club!"
"Buffy, how many times you're going to make up excuses for not being at the house?" Joyce told her daughter.
"I... I don't..." Buffy stuttered.
"Do you have any idea how much I was scarred? I thought you were in your room, but then I found out you weren't there at all and I tried to search for you around the house." Joyce said. "Something might have happened to you!"
"There was something urgent! I had no choice!" Buffy told her mother, but this was clearly another excuse, as she didn't want to tell her mother the whole truth.
"More urgent than your school life? More urgent your family?!" Joyce called out her daughter before letting out a sigh. "It's been only a few days since we've moved in and I'm already getting calls from your principal. You've been missing out your classes and you never showed up at home."
"Mom..." Buffy tried to say before she was cut out by her mother.
"Just like the other day, when I didn't see you in your room." Joyce scolded her daughter. "Or what about today, when you weren't your class? It's like we're repeating the same thing we did in Los Angeles. I know you might say it'll be the end of the world or something, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let you get away with it and not facing the consequences of your actions!"
Buffy let out a small sigh, as she didn't know how to react. On one hand, her mother was right. She had been missing out classes and disobeyed her mother, so she deserved to be grounded and face the responsibilities of what she had done, but on the other hand, she wanted to stop The Master's force from taking over Sunnydale and causing hell on earth, therefore she had not choice but doing what she had to be done. Joyce calmed down and placed her hands on Buffy's shoulders.
"I just don't want you to risk your personal life again." Joyce comforted her daughter. "You know how much I love you and care about you. That's why I was so scarred. I understand this is not the same thing as in Los Angeles, but we have so much opportunities there and I don't want to see it completely wasted. Just promise me this won't happen again, okay?"
"I promise, mom." Buffy nodded.
"Good." Joyce smiled before pulling her daughter to an embrace.
As she felt her mother's embrace, Buffy began to reflect on the last couple of days. From meeting new friends such as Xander and Willow, to meeting the mysterious tall, handsome man, to learning about the Harvest and preventing The Master's return, she knew her life wouldn't be the same after this, as she now had to handle her responsibility as a Slayer and trying to make through high school. No matter what held in store for her, she was ready to face them.
Little did Buffy know, a bigger fate awaited for her...
