Work Text:

“Gault! Gault!”

Gault held out her arms as Jed barrelled into them, his embrace as enthusiastic as any honorary auntie could wish.

“Hi Jed! What adventure would you like to go on today?”

After their initial meeting in the Dreaming, they had quickly fallen into the habit of going on adventures that were only possible in the Land of Dreams, whenever Jed had time to visit and Gault was free. The last time had been a quest for a chalice, in which Jed had been Sir Galahad who had to persuade little old Mrs Whittaker (Gault) to let him have her newest knickknack.*

“I know, I know! Can you be a dragon? And we can go flying around? That would be so cool!”

“Can I be a dragon? Watch me!”

Gault enjoyed Jed’s enthusiastic cheers as she effortlessly transformed into a very large, very scaly and toothy iridescent black dragon. Jed mounted up on her neck, and she soared into the sky. As he excitedly pointed out the various features of the Dreamscape, she swooped and circled around them to give him a better look. After a thorough tour, she decided it was time to head for home when she noticed him rubbing his eye.

“Cookies and tea at Lucienne’s, now, Jed?” she asked.

“Yeah I guess so,” he responded. ”I could do this forever! I can’t believe I’m a Dragonrider! But I could use a little snack I suppose.”

Gault banked left and headed back towards the castle. Sure enough, Lucienne and Rose were waiting for them in the garden when they landed.

“C‘mon Rose, let’s get some tea,” Jed said, grabbing his sister by the arm and dragging her toward the castle.

Lucienne walked over to Gault, reaching up to stroke behind her ear and caress down her neck, the way she knew she liked in whatever form she took.

“Shall we go in, love?” she asked.

“In a moment,” Gault suggested. ”I wouldn’t mind catching my breath for a bit.”

“Hmmm,” Lucienne hummed, stroking farther down Gault’s scaly side. “I do love your dragon form,” she murmured, nuzzling her cheek into the place where the scales gave way to Gault’s softer, warmer underbelly.

Gault turned her head affectionately so she could see her lover at her side, and stretched her neck a bit to nudge her gently with her nose. “You love all my forms though.”

“It’s true,” Lucienne admitted, turning to look her in one large eye. Gault snorted in amusement and cuddled her close between cheek and side. Lucienne melted into her, and so they rested as Gault’s huge heart slowed back to its normal pace.

“Shall we go in now?” Gault suggested, as her body relaxed.

“Let’s go see how Rose and Jed are doing,” Lucienne agreed, taking her hand as she shifted to fairy form once more.

“Beautiful as always,” Lucienne said, smiling into her eyes and leaning up for a chaste kiss. Gault leaned down, enjoying the brief contact. They were private about their love—unlike some people whose initials were JC and HG and who could get away with anything because they were dating Endless, Gault thought with tolerant amusement. But Gault knew Lucienne would fulfill the promise in her kiss later, once their guests had left.

I thought Lucienne and Gault were going to be a QPR but turns out they are just really private! I have been set straight! I apologize to my disappointed asexual friends!
