Chapter Text
Kenma woke up from the small ray of sunshine peeking into his room and resting right on his closed eyes. He groaned and turned over in his bed. Quickly, he realized his legs and bottom could directly feel his bed sheets. The omega sat up and looked down at himself.
Oh right.
He masturbated to his new bodyguard.
And then fell asleep.
Kenma could feel his face heat up as he remembered the events of last night. How is he supposed to face Kuroo now? The good thing about this is he won’t have to see Kuroo unless he decides to leave the house. So he won’t!
The omega was proud of his logic, and happily got up to change into his loungewear, his pajama shirt and some short shorts.
‘Maybe Shoyo is up, I’ll join him for breakfast.’ He thought, heading downstairs to the kitchen.
Sometimes Kenma feels like the world does things just to spite him.
“Ah, there he is, Kuroo-san.” His mother said, sipping his tea.
He was sitting at our kitchen table, which had a various display of breakfast foods from omelets to muffins. To his right stood the messy haired, tall alpha that Kenma was trying to avoid.
“Good morning.” Kuroo said, a lazy smirk on his face.
Kenma’s mouth was hanging open, and the redness was slowly making its way back to his face.
“Don’t act so surprised. I was going to tell you last night but your door was locked, so I texted you instead.” His mother commented.
Oh god. Did he come to his room during or after he was masturbating?!
Only when Kenma noticed Kuroo’s eyes scanning him from top to bottom did he realize that he was wearing his super short shorts. He quickly went to sit down and the table, covering his legs.
“W-Why did you call Kuroo-san? I’m not planning to go out today.”
After taking a bite of his blueberry muffin, his mother responded, “I thought it’d be a good idea for you to explore some of the college campus before attending. It happens to be open today for a seminar so you should go and get used to the campus and figure out where your classrooms are.”
Kenma blinked.
“Oh. That’s actually…very nice.”
“Yeah, and here you are acting like I’m the Devil! Kuroo-san, please don’t be shy and fix yourself a plate.” The silver haired man said, picking up a small plate and sliding it to the bodyguard.
“Oh! Thank you sir, but I already—” Kuroo started, but quickly stopped as Suga simply ignored his words and placed some small foods onto his plate. Kuroo sighed with absolutely no animosity and moved to sit at the table.
“You too, Dear. Eat up and then get dressed.” Suga said, with a smile on his face.
Kenma smiled back, before grabbing a plate of his own and picking some food.
“You got a date with Dad today?”
“He’s taking me to see a play.” His mother replied, and Kenma wonders if he’s aware of the huge smile plastered on his face as he takes another bite of his muffin.
“And don’t forget to wear your collar.”
“Mom, choker’s are so archaic.” Kenma snapped back.
Suga put his muffin down on his plate. “Please, Kenma? For me?”
Kenma tried holding defiant eye contact with his mother but quickly gave up, giving a sigh of relief. “…Okay.” He replied, ducking his head down to finish his breakfast.
What an embarrassing conversation to have in front of Kuroo-san.
~~~
Kenma is now dressed and ready to explore the campus he’s going to be attending almost every day from now on. He’s wearing a pair of ripped black jeans, and a big white T shirt with a paw print on it, along with his converse (and his collar of course). He smiles at himself in the mirror, he really did like to be able to wear some normal clothes for once.
The omega made his way downstairs, and into the kitchen where Kuroo-san was washing the dish he used.
This time, Shouyou was up and eating at the kitchen table. He looked exhausted, as he sloppily brought his spoonful of cereal up to his mouth.
“Oh, hey Kenma…You going out again?” The orange haired boy asked drowsily, and less enthusiastic than normal.
“Yes…what’s up with you? Did you not get any sleep?” Kenma asked.
“….Tobio and I had a fight last night.” Shouyou mumbled, swirling his spoon in his cereal bowl.
“Over what? Was it bad?” That’s when Kenma noticed just how red Shouyou’s eyes were.
Just then, Kuroo finished washing dishes and came to Kenma’s side.
“I’ll…tell you later okay? You should go.” Shouyou replied.
Kenma was reluctant to leave. “Okay, Shou…I’ll try to be back quick.” He placed a hand on his brother’s shoulder, giving it a squeeze before leaving with Kuroo.
This car ride wasn’t as awkward as the last one. Mostly because Kenma’s mind was kind of preoccupied with Shouyou. He really hoped his brother was okay. Kenma made a mental note to punch Tobio later.
“So are you excited about college?” Kuroo spoke up, breaking the silence.
The blonde boy snapped his head up, surprised at Kuroo’s words after being so deep in thought.
“Oh! Uh…yeah I am. I’m just really nervous too…” He admitted.
Kuroo gave him an understanding look as if saying ‘continue.’
“I’ve…never been good with socializing. Not even just because I was never allowed outside and stuff, I’m just not good at it. So I’m scared I won’t be able to…make friends and stuff.” Kenma admitted, his head now hanging low while he stared at his own hands on his lap.
“I’m sure you will. If people took the time to know you, they’d see you’re a fun person. Y’know I was kinda worried when I took on this job?”
Kenma perked up at this and turned to the other man.
“Really?”
“Yeah! This beautiful rich omega hired me to be a bodyguard for his precious son, I thought you would be some snobby brat. I was totally dreading this job.” Kuroo said, giving Kenma a smile.
The omega slightly blushed.
“And what? I don’t seem like a snobby brat now that you’ve met me?”
“Well, you’re definitely not snobby.” The alpha smirked.
“Are you calling me a brat?!” Kenma asked, playfully hitting Kuro’s arm.
Kuroo chuckled, holding his arm as if Kenma’s playful hit actually hurt his sturdy body. “Just a little bit of a brat.”
Kenma rolled his eyes at the man.
“No, but seriously, you’re a nice person.” Kuroo said, and it was weird for him to be so genuine after joking around.
Kenma felt his cheeks heat up quickly.
“You barely even know me, Kuro.” He said, and couldn’t stop himself from letting the nickname slip from his lips.
Kuroo didn’t seem to mind it, he smiled even wider. “Well I guess I’ll just have to get to know you then.”
Kenma let himself smile back at him and for a second, it felt as if nothing else existed outside of that car ride. It was only Kuroo and Kenma.
“We’re here, sirs.” The driver said, interrupting their little moment.
Kuroo snapped his head to the driver's seat, a small blush forming on his cheeks. “O-Oh yes.” He said, moving to get up.
Kenma patiently waited for Kuroo to come around and open his door. After just a short while, there the black haired man was, opening the car door and holding a hand out to Kenma.
The omega held back a smile while taking the hand and stepping out of the car. Once outside, he noticed the campus was mostly empty, but the few students who were there were all looking at Kenma.
Well, no shit.
Kenma had just arrived at school in an all black car, and was being escorted out of said car by a tall man wearing a black suit and tie.
He felt his face heat up as he quickly let go of Kuroo’s hand, and moved to quickly retrieve his backpack from the car, hoping the driver would leave as soon as he closed the door, which he did.
“Well that’s a good first impression on your fellow students.” Kuroo joked, following Kenma as he stormed off into the school campus, his head faced downwards.
“That was so embarrassing…” Kenma mumbled.
The two entered a building that seemed like the main office, and it was filled with new students who had questions about their classes. The omega winced at all the new and unfamiliar smells, there were so many people and Kenma was not used to it. He’s never even attended those fancy parties his parents hosted, always sneaking off to the garden with Shouyou and Tobio. Glancing at Kuroo standing next to him, Kenma felt even more embarrassed as the man was dressed like a bodyguard (which he was) but it was extremely unusual for a regular college student to have a bodyguard!
Once again, Kuroo seemed to pick up on Kenma’s train of thought because he started removing his jacket, then his tie. He folded both the items and held onto them while he unbuttoned the first few buttons of his white collared shirt. The man looked more casual now, not at all like a bodyguard anymore. Kenma smiled to himself, grateful to Kuroo for caring about his feelings. This however, did not help the fact that Kenma was in a room crowded with people he didn’t know and it was beginning to make him nauseous.
“Kenma? Are you oka—“ Kuroo began, but was cut off by Kenma turning around and running out of the building. The omega didn’t know where he was going, he just ran until he got to the side of another building next to the one he ran from, away from most people and in the shade.
He dropped to the floor and hugged his knees.
‘God. How did I think I could do this?’ Kenma thought to himself, ‘I’m the one who begged for this and I can’t even go through with it…’
The omega could hear Kuroo shouting for him, but he couldn’t bring himself to face him. He probably seemed like a child, a child who can’t stand in a room with a few people in it.
“Excuse me?”
A voice snapped Kenma out of his thoughts, his head snapped up from its previous spot against his knees.
Above him stood a man (a very pretty man actually) with short slightly curly black hair, and thick black rimmed glasses. He was wearing a shirt with the words “student guide” on it.
“Do you need help..?” The man asked him.
Kenma then realized how concerning his appearance must be. He was breathing hard, his clothes were disheveled, and his face was pink from running just a short distance.
“Are you in heat? Oh, I’m an Omega too, so it’s okay you can trust me. My name is Akaashi Keiji.” The man said, holding up his student ID to show he was indeed an Omega.
Kenma felt himself smile at the man’s kindness, but he shook his head. “N-No I’m okay. I’m not in heat…I just got…overwhelmed I think.” He explained.
The man, or Akaashi as Kenma had just learned, crouched down to be at eye level with the other Omega.
“It’s okay, I get like that sometimes too. You seem to have trouble breathing. Can you breathe with me? Inhale for 4 seconds, hold it for 3, then exhale for 5.” He explained, while demonstrating.
The blonde omega followed his instructions, and found himself being able to breathe again.
“Ah…Thank you…” He smiled.
“Kenma!! There you are! You scared the shit out of me, I thought your Mother was gonna kill me!” Kuroo exclaimed, panting from all the running around he was doing looking for the boy.
“I-I’m sorry, Kuro.” Kenma sputtered, knowing Kuroo probably was scared for his life.
Kuroo sighed, and moved to the other side of Kenma and crouched down to his level. “Don’t worry about it, are you okay?”
The omega smiled up at him, Kuroo still being taller than him even crouching down. “I’m okay, Kuro. Thank you for worrying about me.”
“Well it is my job.” The man joked, then turned to look at Akaashi. “…Who are you?”
“Ah, my name is Akaashi Keiji.” Akaashi replied, once again holding up his student ID.
Kuroo looked it over, then when he was seemingly convinced, he gave a satisfied hum.
“Kenma, promise next time you’ll just talk to me or ask me to take you somewhere else? I was really scared you would get lost or…hurt.” Kuroo sounded like he was pleading with him.
The blonde omega couldn’t help but feel bad. “I will, I’m really sorry, Kuroo.”
“To be fair, Kenma probably wasn’t thinking about you at the moment. His body just reacted to his need for space and a change of environment, not the consequence. I’m sorry, is it okay if I call you Kenma?” Akaashi asked.
“I-It’s okay.” The other boy replied.
“Thank you…guy I just met.” Kuroo said. “Wait, you’re a student guide?”
“Yes…” Akaashi said, unimpressed.
“Would you mind showing Kenma around campus? And where his classes are? That’s what we were trying to get help for before um…this.”
Oh! Kenma had forgotten the entire reason of why he came here.
“Of course…will you be joining us?” The black haired omega asked.
“Well, I don’t know. Kenma, do you want me to—“
Kenma then grabbed hold of Kuroo’s sleeve.
“Yes, please.” He simply said.
A light shade of pink dusted Kuroo’s cheeks.
“Okay…”
~~~
After an hour of Akaashi showing Kenma around and finding all of his classes, the three men finally circled their way back to the entrance of the college.
Kuroo was taking a call, and was walking quite far behind the two Omegas.
“Your mate is a good person.” Akaashi started.
Kenma immediately felt his face heat up. “Um, Kuroo-san is…not my mate.”
Akaashi’s own face turned red in response. “O-Oh my. I'm so sorry. You two just seemed so close—”
“He’s just! Really overprotective…” Kenma interrupted, he didn’t think telling this person he had just met that he was the son of a rich family and Kuroo was his assigned bodyguard.
“Ah, I see…I’m sorry again for the misunderstanding.” The omega repeated.
Just then, Kuroo caught back up with the two omegas.
“Thanks for giving us the tour again, ‘Kashi!”
Akaashi gave the man a mildly annoyed look, clearly unimpressed by the nickname given to him.
“It is literally what I am here for.”
“Okaaayy…sassy.” Kuroo jokes, nudging Kenma’s arm. Kenma does laugh at Kuroo’s teasing of the other omega.
“Thank you for everything else as well, Akaashi.” Kenma smiled at the boy.
Akaashi gave a small smile back.
“You can call me Keiji.”
“Cool! You can call me Tetsurou, Keiji!” Kuroo chimed in.
“Not you.” Akaashi deadpanned.
“Hey!” The alpha whined.
Kenma giggled at the two men’s banter, and spotted his driver arriving to pick him up.
“Our ride is here. Thanks again, Keiji. Maybe I’ll see you around campus?” Kenma asks, silently hoping that he and Akaashi could be friends.
“Of course, we happen to have the same Graphic design class.” Akaashi smiled at the shorter omega, and Kenma felt a big smile form on his face.
The three men said their goodbyes and Kuroo opened the door for Kenma to step into the car.
“Well he was nice.” Kuroo started, once they were both seated in the now moving car.
“Yeah…I hope we can become friends.” Kenma stated honestly.
“You two seemed to get along, and you have the same class. I’m sure you will.”
Kenma smiled, but his smile soon fell. “I really am sorry about earlier though. I don’t know what happened to me…”
“Oh please Kenma. It’s okay. You just got overwhelmed. Social situations are probably just not your thing and that’s okay. I promise. I was just worried about you.” Kuroo reassured him.
The blonde omega couldn’t help but smile again. Kuroo was so kind to him.
“Plus, that’s how you met Akaashi!” The alpha added.
“Yeah…Keiji is cool. He’s super pretty, I wonder if he’s mated.”
“Yeah…but you’re cuter.” Kuroo said with a wink.
Kenma felt his face heat up for about the 100th time today.
Then Kuroo turned his attention to the driver.
“Wait! Could you drop us off at X station?” He asked.
“Kuroo? Why are we going there?” Kenma tilted his head.
“Well you’re a college student now, we can be showing up in this big expensive looking car everyday. I’ll escort you on the train.” Kuroo explained.
“I guess that’s true…” The omega replied, but was still unsure about it.
Kuroo once again helps Kenma out of the car, and he takes in the scene of the train station. It’s even more crowded than the college campus’ main office, but everyone is constantly moving with a destination in mind.
The alpha takes Kenma’s hand and leads him through the crowd, helping him onto one of the trains. In the train, it’s crowded and compact and there are no seats. So Kuroo settles for letting Kenma stand against the doors, away from most people.
But more people seem to be entering the train, pushing the two men closer together. Kuro lifts his arms to cage Kenma in, shielding him from the other passengers.
“You feeling okay? Tell me if you feel overwhelmed.” Kuroo whispered to Kenma.
Oh god.
Kuroo was caging Kenma in against a wall, their chests were touching, and he was whispering in his ear.
How was Kenma supposed to get through this situation? Being this close to a man he just had a sexual fantasy about last night??? He was doing so well this whole day by not thinking about it, but now he’s being forced to remember.
‘Please don’t slick up. Please don’t slick up.’ Kenma was basically begging himself in his mind.
“Kenma? Are you okay?” Kuroo whispered again in Kenma’s ear.
“I-I’m okay!” Kenma’s voice was breathy and sultry. But it could pass as overwhelmed? Maybe?
Kuroo’s cheeks were dusted pink. “Just hang in there okay?”
Kenma furiously nodded against the older man’s chest.
For an agonizing 25 minutes, Kenma was pressed up close to Kuroo’s body until they finally arrived at their stop. From there it was a 10 minute walk to Kenma’s family’s house.
Kuroo took the younger man’s hand and led him off the train.
Once they were a ways away from the station, Kuroo turned to Kenma. “I’m sorry, was that too uncomfortable for you? I should’ve made sure with you first, I just thought—” Kuroo began to apologize but was cut off by Kenma.
“It’s fine, Kuro. I really do want to try taking the train for school. I’ll just need your help getting used to it…if that’s okay?”
Kuroo’s worried expression was nowhere to be seen, his face now wearing a soft smile. “Of course. You know it’s weird how we keep acting like this isn’t literally my job.”
Kenma laughed at that. “Yeah, I’ve noticed we both do that…” He said, as they continued walking home.
“I guess I just like spending time with you so much, it doesn’t really feel like a job anymore.” Kuroo admitted, and Kenma softly gasped at his words.
Kuroo felt like hanging out with him wasn’t even a part of his job. Like they just wanted to be together.
Kenma had never been good with people, if today wasn’t already a perfect example of that. But being with Kuroo came easy. They had barely even known each other, but Kenma already felt like he’d known him for years. He had previously thought he was alone in this feeling, but maybe Kuroo was feeling the same.
“That was…weird to say. I’m sorry.” Kuroo shook his head, raising his arm to scratch the back of his head.
And Kenma snapped back to reality.
“It’s…okay.” He responded.
After a few minutes of not comfortable but also not awkward silence, they reached Kenma’s home.
The alpha held the door open for the omega and followed him inside.
In the living room was Daichi, wearing his reading glasses and working on a crossword puzzle.
“Hi Dad, I’m home.” Kenma called out.
“Oh, welcome home Kenma. And hello Kuroo-san.” His father replied, not even glancing up from his puzzle.
“Hello sir.” Kuroo said.
“Is mom getting ready for the date?”
“Yup, you know him. He can’t find the right outfit. I’ve been ready for half an hour.” He said as he placed his crossword puzzle down on the short table in front of him, seemingly finished with it.
“I thought the play was at night?” Kenma asked, setting his backpack down.
“It is. But we were going out to eat first and take a stroll at the park. How was the campus?” His father questioned, sitting forward and joining his hands together.
“It was nice, Kuro accompanied me on a tour. We found all my classes.”
Daichi glanced at the messy haired alpha then back at his son. “Kuro, huh?” He gave them a knowing smile. Knowing of what exactly, Kenma didn’t know.
Just then, Suga came rushing down the stairs.
“Okay honey! I think I’m ready. Do you think these earrings are too much?” He asked, showing off the dangling diamond earrings he was wearing.
“Beautiful as always, baby. Can we get going?” Daichi asked, restlessly.
“Oh hush, I’m already finished.” Suga turned to the entrance where Kenma and Kuroo were standing.
“Hello you two. I hope the campus tour went well?” He implored.
“Yes, mom. I was just telling dad.”
“Oh good then. And pick your backpack up off the floor, Kenma.” His mother said before turning around to pick his purse up off the couch. Daichi stood up at this time to let Suga hold onto his arm as they walked towards the front door behind Kenma and Kuroo.
Before leaving, Suga stopped and turned to the boys. He looked at them up and down. “Your brother is upstairs in your room.” He simply said before leaving with his husband.
“Oh! Shouyou…” Kenma remembered his talk with his brother this morning. “I need to go talk to my brother. I’ll see you soon, Kuro.” He said, turning to leave.
“Wait! Um…” Kuroo sputtered.
The omega turned back to him, tilting his head. “Yeah?”
Kuroo took his phone out of his pocket and unlocked it. “I just thought, maybe we should have each other’s numbers? So you can let me know personally whenever you want to go out instead of going through your mother.”
Kenma tried not to show on his face just how much this excited him. Kuroo’s number! He could contact him any time…
“Y-Yeah that’s a good idea.”
~~~
After exchanging numbers, they said their goodbyes. Kenma quickly made his way up to his room to find Shouyou sitting on his bed, hugging one of his cat plushies.
“Hey…” Kenma said.
The orange haired omega turned to look at his brother. His eyes were puffy and red.
“Was it a bad fight?”
“No…” Shouyou sighed. “No, it was a really stupid fight.”
Kenma took a seat next to the boy, on his bed.
“I was complaining because…remember those grand gestures he would always do for me? Sending me flowers, taking me out, spoiling me? He sorta stopped…” The boy admitted.
“I noticed he doesn’t bring flowers when he visits anymore.”
“Yeah! I was telling him I missed it, and he never does stuff like that anymore…and he said I was complaining about nothing. And that made me mad because, what changed?? Am I not worth it anymore?”
“Shouyou…”
“So I asked him, ‘you’re acting like you’ve won me already so you can stop courting me!’ And he said ‘well aren’t we already set up to be married?’” The boy explained with wild hand gestures. “So I said ‘how are you so sure I’m going to marry you?’ And he just…” His hands fell to his lap. “He looked so… hurt .”
Kenma frowned. “Well that’s not stopped at all, I don’t think.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, I mean…when someone puts in so much effort and then basically stops, it’s gonna make you feel bad…” Kenma explained.
“…But?”
“…But I think telling him you weren’t going to marry him probably really hurt him.”
“That’s not what I said though!!!”
“But you know that’s how he took it.”
Shouyou threw himself back into Kenma’s bed.
“Everyone knows you two are courting, with marriage in mind. All of the other families see you as mates already. So saying that probably made him feel like…that’s not what you wanted.” The blonde omega explained further.
Shouyou only groaned.
“But that doesn’t excuse how he’s been treating you. You should just talk to him about it.”
Shouyou sat back up, tears pricking his eyes. “You don’t think he hates me now?”
Kenma laughed softly. “No, of course not. He’s probably at home sulking, waiting for you to contact him.”
“You think so?”
“Yup.”
“…I’m gonna go see him.” Shouyou said, getting up off of Kenma’s bed.
Kenma smiled at his brother.
“Thanks Kenma.” Shouyou smiled back.
Then he ran out of Kenma’s room. The blonde boy sighed, throwing himself onto his bed.
His phone chimed.
Kuro 12:57 pm
How’s your brother?
Kenma smiled.
Kenma 12:59 pm
He’s perfect.
