At the Enclosed Arena (A few moments before the present)

With loud huffs emitting from Y/n, her hands gripped her knees tightly as she took seconds to catch her labored breaths. Amidst her rush towards the Storian, still in her nightgown, the soft lilac colored fabric sticks on her sweat-damped skin, just about transparent when the sun peeks its early rays, abandoning any sense of modesty and shame .

However, Y/n had little to no care of what she might look like at the very moment, and without sparing any other thoughts beside to enter, she pushed the huge wooden doors with a grunt and the first thing she heard was the ear-splitting cheers of Evers as Leon succeeded in attaining his final victory of the duel.

Like an instinct upon seeing his insufferable face, Y/n quickly wore her usual façade of a loving and devoted lover of the champion, she wasn't sure what changed when she was instructed to make her way towards his duel, he still held the smugness that she deeply hates, not a single flicker of love began in her heart where the evil dean has now took place. But nevertheless, she followed the Storian's order; beggars can't be choosers after all.

Her strained smile fell as quickly as it came when the doors behind her slammed forcefully. She spun around and came face to face with dozen knights fully armed with not only the common swords and metal-rounded guards; Y/n's eye widened in horror as the realization hits her. Their gears... it's enchanted!

And finally! my dearest lover came at last.

Leon's mocking voice reached everyone's ears including Y/n's, however, she couldn't tear her gaze away from the knights in front of her as if they would start stabbing her the moment she stray her gaze from them.

One step back, and in return they took a step forward, taunting and observing every subtle action she takes.

Or should I say, the wretched and sly witch...

Y/n froze at the spot, her throat bone dry and her knees threatened to buckle down the ground weakened by how things were playing out.

Why does the Storian wants me here?!

who seduced me with the use of her blasphemous spells!

The round of gasps and displeasure escaped the Evers; students and professors alike started to murmur on their seats, a cacophony that completely eluded Y/n.

And here she is doing it again! He chuckled as he pointed at the all-too-revealing night gown of the stiff woman. I do understand why choose me as your victim. He turned to the crowd with air of smugness lingering around him I am a prince, am I not? a potential heir! Had she succeeded, I would've been hexed into making her my queen in the future! The distaste that crept into their faces further fueled his bravado. Can you all imagine? a witch for a ruler?! The fairytale lands be d*mned! Horrors turned into a fit of rage as they realized what he meant.

To think that a villain almost got the better of them, oh sure did it hurt their Everly-egos.

N-no! you all don't understand—

I'd say we kill the she-devil! An Ever student stood from the back cut her pleads, the others quickly follow his assertion with a chorus of strong agreements.

Execute her!

Hang her!

Off with her head!

Witches should be burned at the stake!

Amidst the shouts and rackets from the Evers, Y/n slowly met Leon's pleased gaze. His mouth curled wide as he reveled at the support of his students and colleagues. But the woman didn't mind what they thought of her, it's his opinion that matters the most. For days she had tried so devastatingly hard to win his praise, yet in the end... All he ever thought of her, was someone who never deserved him.

Completely having her back turned from the wary knights, she stepped towards the ring where her "soulmate" was proudly standing. Why? She softly muttered at him, earning her a scoff at her question.

Why? He repeated. The crowd silencing as they watched their interaction.

Why do you hate me so much?

Letting her words sink in, Leon choked on a laugh before shaking his head as if the question was the dumbest thing he had ever heard.

He uttered something under his breath, just enough for her to hear. You still don't understand, do you? At this point, Y/n was confused beyond measure.

Leon walked down on the stairs with daunting steps, all eyes bore into him as he reached for the weeping witch.

You are beneath me, Y/n, a low-born wench who desperately thinks that she has a chance with a prince.

She couldn't hurt him, and by the gods did Leon took advantage of it. He will have everything he wants by the end of the day, he had already won the championship, earned the praise and respect from everyone that matters, crushed the pride of his rivals, and now, all he needs to do was to get rid of the oblivious woman standing in front of him.

I...Y/n swallowed a sob. I still don't understand, why does it matter who I am? Im— Y/n reached for his cheek and searched his eyes for any sort of sympathy and acknowledgment, something, anything that could still spark some hope in her drumming chest. That she hasn't failed yet. You're my soulmate. A wishful thinking indeed.

The Evers leaned on their seats, utterly confused. They couldn't quite hear their conversation, nor couldn't understand what was happening. Why was Leon letting the witch touch him? Why did his hand reach for hers in return, gently caressing her hand resting on his cheek, and for a second, worry shot through their spines as they thought that he was once again being hexed.

Not until they saw his lowered hand motioning for the knights to sneak their way behind Y/n.

Oh Y/n... He whispered and leaned towards her ear. I was never your soulmate.

Present

Dovey banged her staff immediately on the ground, emitting a blinding golden light, before rushing towards the balcony and aiming it towards the withdrawing bugs-like form of Lesso, rapidly approaching her school.

Numerous shots of flashing lights and not even one had succeeded at capturing her. This led to the Good dean to stomp her foot in distress.

Holy sh*t, is she going—

Yes Auris, she will kill him. the feline watched as Dovey took a step back and uttered of set of spells, her staff started to shudder and a whirl of sparkling golden dust spiraled at the center. Bracing herself, she aimed once again and an almost deafening blast shot through the tip, leaving a gust of harsh wind disarray Lesso's office.

(Au: Look, i know I suck at this part, and maybe with a few more lines on the way, cause brain isn't braining atm, BUT OH MY LORD IM TRYING MY BEST!)

She traced her magic whistling through Lesso and into the skies above her school. A burst of tiny glittering lights showered their way unto the walls of the School for Good like water, freely cascading endlessly on the ground, blocking every entrance possible, and warding off any intruder physically and magically.

Woah! That's sick Goldie! What is that?! In a rush, Dovey went back inside and grabbed Auris from the chair.

A temporary headache for Lesso. Auris noticed the labored breaths the dean took, the hands carrying her clammy and shaking. Are you alright? She had to ask, and it was the first she ever showed concern for someone other than her sister.

Quite so. Though I must admit that took a bit too much of my energy. Dovey ran to the exit of Lesso's school, hoping that she could make it before her co-dean succeeds in shattering her defense.

She was already on the bridge and nearly passing the headmaster's tower, when a voice clawed inside her mind that stopped her in her tracks.

Do not interfere Dean Clarissa.

Her breath hitched and her eyes widened as she spun around towards the Storian's direction. For years she resided in this land, and not even once did it communicated with her until now.

Hey why we stopped? Auris asked, slightly unnerved by how alarmed Dovey looked.

Without answering her, she continued running towards her school, with Lesso somewhere above them, preparing her assault.

***

Inside the enclosed arena, with part of their ceiling revealing the skies, they noticed the shimmering light enveloping their school. Dovey's faculty members promptly realized what it was and what it meant.

There was a possibility of an attack.

Their attention quickly diverted to the scene in front of them.

Right after the revelation to Y/n, he had pushed her towards the knights' grasps. With their whole gears enchanted, her magic was of no use nor a threat, so capturing her was an easy feat.

Well then, Y/n... Leon grabbed an enchanted sword from the ground and shortly weighed the weapon in his clutch. I suppose this is where we part ways.

He paid no heed at the burning rage from her glowing eyes. But what can she do but to struggle futilely?

He was about to strike when the ground shook tremendously, loosing his balance. The Evers shrieked as rubbles from the ceilings threatened to fall at their heads. The faculty wasted no second in evacuating the students, leaving Leon, Y/n and the knights inside the Arena.

There wasn't even a short pause with the vibrations when another strike terrorized the premises, and this time, the knights grasps weakened, giving Y/n an opportunity to squirm her way out of their capture. Escaping wasn't an option, honestly, it didn't even cross her mind.

If Leon believed she was dependent on her magic, then that will be the death of him. Him, dead. The idea of his blood escaping his lifeless body itched her to no end.

The tremors rang loudly before another one came. Distracted, Y/n knocked up the nearest knight and got a hold of his sword. This seemed to snap Leon off of his panicked trance and ordered the remaining knights to capture her.

But Y/n was lighter, more agile and nimble on her feet, swiftly evading their violent approaches. Swinging the sword was not her forte, her crescent dagger was, but she persevered with it, earning a few gashes and bruises here and there.

She timed her strikes with the seemingly never-ending explosions that dared destroy the school.

Y/n didn't know how much time has passed, she managed to bring down at least 5 knights, only a few more remaining as she eyed them one by one. A mistake she shouldn't have made.

With her focus lost on Leon, she had allowed him to creep close, and when the time came where she adjusted herself, she was met with a kick on her back that made her stumble flat on the ground.

Another deafening blow came once again, Y/n thought to take advantage of it, but Leon already knew her antics, so to keep her from moving he plunged the sword deep into her right shoulder, making her scream in absolute pain.

Blood splattered messily everywhere, Y/n gritted her teeth as she attempted to remove the blade with her hands, but alas, it could only slice her palms red.

You squirm too much, this could've been done painlessly if you just accepted your fate.

Y/n didn't respond, instead, she spits on his face and kicks him in the stomach. A desperate attempt, for a desperate fool like herself.

Leon wiped his cheek before twisting the sword in her shoulder, earning him a loud cry from the woman beneath him. He motioned a knight to give him another sword, and looked down at Y/n. Farewell witch.

Y/n shut her eyes tight as she awaited the blade piercing her flesh.

But it didn't came, instead, she heard a choked sound from the prince that led her to open her eyes.

The round of hitched breaths behind her told Y/n that they too had no clue why Leon was suddenly getting suffocated and being lifted off of the ground.

A beat has passed and he was flung violently on the nearest wall on her left. She swore she heard his bones crack from the impact.

When the rubble dust wafted through the air, it showed Leon on the ground, spluttering blood as he staggered to stand up. His eyes, full of horror and fright, scanned the arena for the offender. What are you useless doing?! Search the area! He ordered the knights with his voice thick with whine, laced with conspicuous cowardice.

Now now, I wonder where all that confidence disappeared to?

Y/n nearly whimpered in relief upon hearing Lesso's voice. She wasn't alone anymore.

Momentarily relaxing her strained muscles before heaving one strong breath as she pulled the sword out of her shoulder.

Y/n nearly blacked out from the pain, nevertheless she got it out and threw it away. Her throat hoarse as she greedily inhaled for air, cursing at the bittersweet sensation of doing so.

Lesso emerged from the swarm of bugs spiraling down the arena, an entrance that completely baffled the knights, it wasn't the most preferable experience to see the dean of evil using her magic to nearly crush their fellow Ever to a pulp, staining their walls.

Their attention diverted to Leon as he coughed before weakly speaking. Lady Lesso, what brings you he—

Each and every Knight present flinched hard when the prince was once again propelled violently on another wall and to another like a pathetic ragdoll; so effortlessly did she tossed a full grown-man into his demise, so unmerciful, fit for someone of her status.

Don't even speak to me, worm. She hissed as she wandered her gaze to look for Y/n, her face never betraying the threads of panic and witless worry as she felt Y/n's pain as if it was her own.

Snapping out of their shock from the brutality, the knights  made their way in front of the injured woman, blocking Lesso's view of her, still keeping her in the dark of her horrid situation.

Lady Lesso, we advise you to stay out of this. One of the knights spoke calmly and with a formal tone.

The matters at hand does not need your... He looked slightly at the damage she made and looked back at her. humble concern.

Move away from her. She ordered rather nonchalantly, her steps didn't falter nor did she paid any heed towards their warning. Or would you rather get involved with me?

Hesitation flashed before their eyes, but still stood their ground, fighting for what they thought was the right thing to do.

The witch has made a serious offense that threatens the future of our lands, had sir Leon didn't reveal her motives—

That worm you speak of was the one with the ulterior motives with Y/n, was the one who seduced her, took advantage of her and her magic, and had you all completely fooled.

And how do we know you speak nothing but the truth?

Patience was never her thing, it would've been so easy to kill rather than explain, but Dovey's barrier had drained her energy more than she can admit, and also, proving that their side initiated this whole fiasco would be more satisfying than having their lifeless bodies to deal with in the future.

Isn't puzzling how an underdog suddenly has the ability to climb his way to the top?

No more words were needed to be said before they started looking at each other, a full understanding of what was happening as, and there they immediately parted for Lesso to see, her soulmate on the brink of losing consciousness, a gentle smile on her pale lips as she motioned her undamaged side of her arm forward for her soulmate to take.

Y/n! Kneeling down and taking her outstretched hand, she examined the wound with blood gushing out of her shoulders.

Call for a healer this instant! The knight who was taking the role of their leader commanded at once.

With her magic incapable of healing, Lesso did all she can up to her capabilities to soothe Y/n's pains and worries. You'll be alright darling, it's over.

But instead of feeling relieved, the pain in their chest grew, sadness seems to outweigh everything Y/n felt. No... Resting her head on Lesso's neck as hot tears obscured her vision, a set of whimpers and sobs escaped her lips. I failed, Lesso.

Y/n—

A weak croak echoed behind them.

Leon, miraculously still alive, was crawling on the grounds with no direction in mind. Searching for someone to help him, save him. His eyes caught the gaze of his fellow knights, yet they returned the look with indifference. They knew, and they were ashamed of him.

I'll be right back Y/n. She kissed her tear-stained cheek and carefully lowered her on the ground, a healer coming into view and without wasting a beat aided her injuries.

Lesso strode towards the limping prince. It seems that he was aiming to escape from the exit of the arena.

Unsheating the hidden blade in her cane, she muttered under her breath. Why won't you just die already hm?

Leon crawled faster, but something, more like someone, was blocking his way. He looked up with his bruised and battered face and saw Dovey, along with a hissing feline, staring at him.

Clarissa. Lesso's tone was more of a question, wondering what her decision would be despite having the truth laid out.

Hope bursts into Leon's chest as he groans in pure joy. He was saved!

Is he though?

Do not interfere.

Dovey shut her eyes tight and exhaled a reluctant breath. I'm sorry. And stepped a pace back. She couldn't even look at him when devastation mirrored in his eyes. Instead, she looked at Lesso, more than glad that her co-dean and she got into a non-verbal agreement.

Wise choice, princess. She chuckled darkly. Now then, where was I? Her finger glowed and his hands were crushed by an invisible force to keep him from crawling away.

Just do it already Lesso, no need to prolong his suffering. Dovey winced.

That f*cker deserves an eternity of suffering! Auris hissed.

No one deserves such a thing! Dovey retorted

Oh puh-lease !

No, no I agree with Clarissa, cat. Lesso mused, stood at Leon's side and aimed her blade high

No one deserves such a thing. She was about to end his life when Y/n shouted that made her stop in surprise, everyone was.

Wait!

With her injures not fully healed, she made her way with effort towards where her sister and soulmate stood baffled.

What are you doing Y/n?! You know he isn't what you think he is right?! Hey! Are you listening?! Y/N! Auris kept blabbering, but all seemed deaf in her ears.

Perhaps it was mercy? Dovey thought.

Or perhaps she really did loved him? The thought had Lesso seething with jealousy and pain. She tried reasoning with her, blocking her way, but just like Auris, she was ignored.

All eyes bore on her as she knelt down near his face planted on the dirt, eyes glassy and unfocused, she leaned so close, only for him to hear her words.

My mother used to hate me too... Used any means she can to torture me and my sister.

Her eyes glowed as her magic activated.

Because not even once, did the world show her kindness...

Little by little, Leon grew blissfully numb as Y/n took away his strength to feel

I figured you the same...

A stray tear escaped his eyes as his lids grew heavy

You may not deserve this, but... I forgive you.

And with all her remaining strength, she gave him a peaceful death before succumbing to the darkness that lulls her to slumber.

***

Up in the Headmaster's tower, the Storian ended a sentence on the page below it, beaming with satisfaction as she turned another page to write once again.

For centuries they have tormented the fates of soulmates... It thought to itself, referring the former as Leon s past relatives from generation to generation. Turns out, that they were the main oppressors between soulmates in achieving a happy ending, no matter the case.

And now finally... It all ends here.

***

When Y/n woke up, she was once again inside Lesso s room. The faint scent of the dean brought her great comfort as she snuggled more on the mattress she was resting on.

Just the thought of her has Y/n missing her already, wanting nothing more to be within her embrace, never to be apart even by a second. She felt a foreign pull, an attraction she tries pushing away and identitying it as nothing more but a growing obsession towards the dean of evil.

If only she was her—

Now that Leon s dead, and she has no idea where her soulmate was, she didn't know what she would do from now on... Oh right, she chuckled to herself, it was the last day of the curse, when dusk comes, she and Auris will be permanently turned into cats. Physically and mentally.

And she should feel depressed about the fact, but for some reason, she felt light and peaceful, as if nothing negative can creep it's way into her heart.

The door opened abruptly and she looked to see Lesso with a something hidden with a white cloth on her hand.

How are you feeling? She softly asked, closing the door as she does so.

Better.

Lesso walked towards her and sat on a chair beside the bed. Do you need anything? Perhaps something to fill you up?

She shook her head and gently took her vacant hand. Right now, I just need you.

Oh darling. She cooed and joined her on the bed, leaving feathery kisses on her cheeks, trailing down to her neck. I was so worried... So f*cking worried to see you in that state this morning. Her chin rested on her shoulder blade. It almost killed me, I could've done anything to spare you from that experience.

Don't be so hard on yourself, you saved me, Lesso. Y/n embraced the dean while playing with strands of her hair.

She relished this moment more than anything, she might not get to anymore after this.

Just so you know, I hate tuna.

She heard Lesso chuckle, yet she continued.

I prefer chicken, or any poultry available.

Lesso hummed as she kept listening.

I like the morning sun, so bring me outside so I can bask on it.

I might get noisy during midnight up to 3 am so you have to pardon me for that

Don't give me a bath unless the water is warm, even during summer heat.

You can pet me on my tummy if you'd like, just as long it's no longer than a minute.

I will not hunt for you, I'm quite lazy so I'd—

Confused, Lesso released herself from Y/n and asked. What's this all about now?

I'm cursed, Lesso.

The dean furrowed her brows and straightened herself.

Y/n—

I should've told you before, but I was so focused on Leon I didn't have time to.

She attempted to call her attention, but Y/n kept interrupting, her voice grew shaky the more she spoke, and her hands tightened on hers. She explained her curse, how it had dampened her emotions and senses, her mission to find her soulmate, and how she miserably failed.

And now I don't have any time to create something together that we could cherish forever.

(Au: can I just write some convos here? No? Well that don't matter I do what I want *evil donkey laugh)

Darling, I need you to calm down first.

I- I don't know if I can. Had I known I d failed, I would've spent the last days with you as a human. She swore she won't let sorrow eat her heart, but easier said than done if she kept rethinking about what could've had happened if she had made different choices.

Here. Lesso gave the clothed item to the sobbing woman. She eyed it first, before opening it and Y/n nearly broke into a whimpering mess as she looked at her crescent dagger on her lap.

You brought it back!

Of cour— oof! caught off guard, Y/n hugged her tightly.

The fates are so f*cking cruel. Why couldn't you be my soulmate instead

...

Recovering from the shock, Lesso chuckled and shook her head at absurdity of situation.

She returned the hug and trailed her fingers on her neck, where her name was tattooed on.

You know, I don't understand why you have to hide my name on your neck. She grinned when she felt the woman stiffened at her words.

Slowly, Y/n backed up with her eyes wide and hopeful. What..?

Oh my sweet, I'm your soulmate.

Lesso, I swear if youre just feeling sorry

Y/n—

Show it to me! Lesso show me the tattoo. Y/n dared to hope one last time

Lesso, grabbed the dagger and ripped a small window on her trousers on her right thigh and revealed Y/n's name engraved on her skin.

I-its... Her hand shaking as she slowly reached for the exposed skin

Dont be shy now, you've touched more than just my thighs. The dean teased, but fell deaf on Y/n's ears, seemingly focused, as if she can't believe what she was seeing before her.

It's my name... She uttered under her breath, she touched the skin softly, rubbed it a bit as if testing if it was fake or not.

And before Lesso knows it, Y/n tackled themselves on the ground, accidentally.

A squeal of joy came from the woman hugging her, a laughter so sweet echoed in the room that she couldn't help but giggle along with her.

Y/n cupped her cheeks and claimed her lips shortly.

Its you! Y/n beamed

Its me. Lesso answered back

I found you!

Lesso grinned and placed her hand on her cheek. You found me. She reassured.

Y/n once again kissed her, but this time, it was more passionate, deep, and ever so yearning, yearning for intimacy, yearning for more of Lesso.

They broke the kiss with a breathy exhale as they touched each other's forehead together, their eyes closed as they revel on each other's warmth and presence.

My Leonora.

Lesso smiled at the sound of her name on the woman s lips

My Y/n.

The End.
