Work Text:
Kazuichi:
It was a usual day in the life of me, the ultimate mechanic, I was strolling along the high street being stared at by countless women when all of a sudden I heard the most beautiful screech my ears could ever be blessed with.
Flying over to the sound, I saw a train about to crash into a conveniently placed wall and the most beautiful lady I had ever seen was screaming out the window - no she wasn't just a lady, she was a princess.
I flexed my muscles and the arms to my shirt ripped off so everyone could see my bulging muscles, "Don't worry miss, I'm coming to save you!"
Flying down to the princess, I swooped her up in one quick motion, carrying her bridal style, and flew her away from the danger, "Don't worry miss, you're safe now."
"Oh thank you, Kazuichi," The princess swooned, "you're my hero, let's get married tonight!"
"Thanks miss, just doing my job." I winked and she swooned again.
"Uhh, umm." Kazuichi's face felt hot as fifteen pairs of eyes stared at him, this was not his day, "Monomi, what the heck, that was private!"
"It's not my fault, you're a creep."
Kazuichi whined and mumbled to himself, "if even she thinks I'm a creep then what does that make me, what hope do I have?"
If he took an interest in his surroundings at all he would've seen Sonia awfully uncomfortable and shooting a glare at him. "Kazuichi, I am not some damsel in distress who needs saving and I will never be 'into' you." She said this with much earnest and hoped her point would finally be made.
"B-but miss Sonia."
"No." Sonia's face burned bright with a mix of embarrassment and anger, "You do not get to make up this fantasised version of me anymore, I want you to see me for who I really am."
There was silence for a minute before Fuyuhiko started chuckling, "dude is that really how you see yourself? It was like you copy-paste your head onto Nekomaru's body, and heroism? Dude you're the most cowardly person here, even worse than Mikan."
"Heyyy, shut upppp." Despite Kazuichi's cries, Fuyuhiko did not shut up and continued to make fun of him, joking about it for months to come.
Ultimate imposter:
I stood at the head of the room and watched everyone carefully, yes they were all complying even Fuyuhiko.
"Everyone may I have your attention, I have an announcement to make." As the one who arranged this party it was only right that I made a speech, "thank you for your cooperation tonight, it's truly a marvel watching my classmates work together in such harmony. If we can keep this up then we can beat the killing game together."
The class cheered in unison and everyone tucked into the delicious food Teruteru cooked but no one ate as much as me and everyone partied the night away, enjoying each others' presence and eventually the party died down and we all retired to our respective cottages.
"Booring." Monokuma's voice rang out and shocked them all upright.
"What does that mean? A killing game." Nagito rested his chin in his hand thoughtfully.
"Oh, that's nothing to worry about." Monokuma said before disappearing again.
Fuyuhiko seemed a bit pissed off, "why wouldn't I comply, what's wrong with me?"
"Monomi, what's a killing game and why was Monokuma acting suspicious?" Hajime didn't hope for much out of her but it couldn't hurt to try.
"I don't know, Monokuma never tells me anything."
"Byakuya?"
"I do not know what that was about. I've never had a dream like that in my life."
Nagito:
I was on the beach with the ultimates and Hajime, it seems we were stranded on Jabberwock island. Everyone was panicking so I did was any worthless human would do and offered myself as a stepping stone to lead them to their fates as pillars of hope.
"You can all use me as a raft. I will float you home to safety, who cares if I drown?" I expected them to jump at this opportunity but no one did.
"Nagito, there's no way we're using you as a raft." Byakuya sighed.
Mikan tried to speak up but Hiyoko spoke for her, "there's no way we'd all fit on you, especially not Mikan."
"Why, Hiyoko?"
I was dissatisfied by their refusal to cooperate, "Hajime you're a reserve course student so you're life is worth less, you use me as a raft and find help."
"What? No I'm not-
But I wasn't listening, "If you get far enough there should be another island with a phone to call the emergency services but it'll take at least a day to get there. You'll probably have to take your shirt off."
"Nagito, I'm not taking my shirt o-
"Oh so you want me to take my shirt off? No need to be so eager Hajime," I began to pull off my shirt before Hajime grabbed my hand to stop me. I gazed at the hopeful contact.
Nagito folded his arms and smirked at Hajime.
"Umm, Monomi can we move on?" Hajime was very uncomfortable, he kept glancing back at Nagito just to see him continue to stare.
Kazuichi patted Hajime on the back sincerely, "dude, I do not envy you."
"Ditto," Fuyuhiko consoled.
Peko joined in, "it is truly an pitiful thing to watch you be ridiculed like this."
"Okay, okay I get it, none of you want to be in my position, now can we move on already?"
"I think you two should just make out already," the whole class turned to Akane except Nagito, "I mean, everyone knows you secretly like each other."
"What? That isn't true."
Nekomaru scolded her, "Akane we're not meant to say that out loud."
"Say what out loud? What is going on?"
Nagito finally spoke up, "Stop fighting it Hajime, we both want this, the whole class can see it. The world wants us together. We should just ki-
"Monomi!" Hajime's voice more of a squeal, "Put. The. Next. Dream. On."
Hiyoko:
It was the perfect day. Everyone from school came to watch my performance and they obviously loved it because I was flawless like always. The crowd cheered and yelped like always but this time louder.
Everyone was chanting my name and I was swept off my feet, carrier by the crowd. Usually I'd find it repulsive all these people touching me but I hand selected who could and couldn't come so no perv's hands were going to feel me up. Mikan was placed right in the corner so there was no way she could touch me.
They carried me outside to the a throne made of pure gold and sat me on top of it. Mahiru stood next to me and fed me grapes while Ibuki fanned me with a huge palm leaf. Life was perfect.
"Wow..." Fuyuhiko let out a whistle
Kazuichi pointed at her, "Hiyoko you're the most conceited person I've ever met."
"Like you're any better." She stuck her tongue out at the mechanic.
Mahiru had a different view on the dream than anyone else, "You really see me like that? That's so cute!"
"You're only saying that because you got to stand above everyone."
"Can it, Kazuichi." Hiyoko beamed at Mahiru, "When I rule the world I'm making you my second-in-command because Mahiru is the nicest person in the world."
"W-what about u-us?" Mikan expected to be treated more poorly in the dream so it felt like Hiyoko was saving her attack.
"Then you can help me tie my kimono all my life and I won't need to learn."
"She t-totally ignored me."
"As for the rest of you pig-barfs," Hiyoko glared at the class, "you'll all be my underlings and I'll rule over you with an iron fist, so you better be nice to me and give me candy then maybe I'll consider giving you a position as one of my loyal servants."
"Talk about a piece of work, am I right?"
"Can it, Kazuichi!"
Hajime:
"The procedure is complete." I awoke in a large empty room with a mirror on one end, probably people watching. "Congratulations Hajime Hinata you now have the abilities of every ultimate."
I smiled at the feeling - for once in my life I didn't feel helpless, worthless, talentless, I felt powerful, like I could stand proudly next to my friends and call myself one of them.
Suddenly everyone in class burst through the door and started applauding me.
"Way to go, man,"
"Congrats dude."
"One of us, one of us."
"You're the most hopeful one of us all, you will set us free from despair."
Chiaki walked up to me and stuck out her hand, "I guess I finally have a worthy rival, what do you say Hajime, will you play games with me?"
I shook her hand and nodded finally feeling equal.
"What poppycock, that's totally not how it's supposed to go at all." Monokuma sprung up out of nowhere.
"Hajime is that how you think I see you?" For the first time Nagito actually seemed apologetic for his actions, "maybe I go too far sometimes, you may be talentless but you shouldn't go have some surgery just to get an ultimate."
Chiaki stared at him seriously, "He's right Hajime, you should never do something like that. I don't need an equal rival I just want you... is that why you never want to play video games with me?"
"Hajime man, you should've told me you were feeling this way, you know I'd never want you change, who would I drag around to spy on miss Sonia with me if you weren't so gullible."
"Yeah Hajime, we prefer you just like this!"
"I agree with Akane, you have so much potential as you are now, if you're ever feeling low just hit me up and I'll shape you into a truly great athlete."
The whole class gave Hajime words of praise and expressed how valued he was but he wasn't really listening he didn't think they were being fully truthful and they didn't understand him.
"Hajime you better not be thinking about." Monomi bonked him on the head with her magic stick.
Teruteru:
As the ultimate cook it was my duty to make people's dreams come true, so when Gordon Ramsay came to me with a proposal to do a cooking show together I just had to say yes, for him of course.
For years we made season after season, each more popular than the last. My fame skyrocketed more than ever and I didn't think I'd ever peak. We even won an Oscar for our performances. An Oscar! There wasn't even any acting in it.
With all the money I made from it, there was never any worry about medical bills and I made sure my ma lived in luxury, buying her mansion before even buying my own.
I took on many lovers in my time, there were many eligible bachelors and bachelorettes just lining up to meet me, but that was just a bonus.
Eventually when Gordon died, the show continued and I took on many apprentices. There were many spin off shows, most of them trying to see who could match up to the ultimate cook but no one ever came close except this one time when the ultimate inventor came on and invented a machine which could make the perfect dish - and it was perfect but it wasn't the best.
Tereteru Hanamura, they would shout in the streets and I went down in history as a TV star.
"I think I speak for everyone when I say that was not what I was expecting." Kazuichi seemed disappointed, "I thought it would be a lot more... y'know, R-rated."
"It's okay, you can say it Kazuichi," Ibuki pointed at Teruteru, "we thought it would be super sexual since you're such a perv."
"Hey I'll have you know I've got a personality, my whole mind doesn't revolve around sex."
"It doesn't seem that way..."
Mahiru chimed in, "It's okay Teruteru, I think it was rather sweet, s'nice to know boys are capable of growing up."
"I can show you I'm a man in more wa-
"And you ruined it. Seriously guys are all the same."
"Once a perv, always a perv - hey that'd be a great song title!"
Ibuki:
The crowd was going wild. My hit single 'I squeezed out the baby, yet I have no idea who the father is' was popping off. It was such a good idea to go solo and start playing in underground venues - though I had to use a fake name and wear a disguise since everyone already knew the ultimate musician.
While in the middle of my next song, I accidentally sneezed and my sunglasses and fake moustache flew off. Everyone started screaming my name but a few voices in the crowd stood out to me, it was my band, they'd come to watch me.
"Hey guys, get up here!" They did as I asked and made their way onto the stage. Suddenly all the correct instruments appeared and we got into the groove playing in perfect harmony once more.
Everyone loved us and afterwards my band mated told me how sorry they were letting me go and now they were happy to do things more my style.
So that's what we did, rising to the top of the charts with our new music style and vibe, selling out concerts globally and staying at number one for fifty years. We were the ultimate band and no one would ever top us.
"Aww, Ibuki do you miss your friends?"
"Shut it pig barf! Ibuki when I rule the world I want you to play music for me to keep me entertained."
"Why sure Hiyoko, I'll play for ya'"
"But it has to be classical Japanese music."
"Aww man."
"Hey Ibuki, could you teach me how to play drums? Then we could start a band." Kazuichi was inching his way over to Hajime for some reason.
"That sounds awesome, but we'd still need someone to play keyboard and bass."
"Well I know the perfect guy to play keyboard, Hajime?"
"No, no way. You aren't dragging me into another of your sche-
"See he'd love to do it."
"Can I play triangle?"
"What about you Gundham?" Ibuki prodded his face, "You're a totally cool guy, think you could play bass."
"Fool, do you know who you are speaking to? I am Gundham Tanaka, I can learn any skill in mere minutes."
"Great! Then we've got a band."
Sonia:
[REDACTED]
"Monomi is the projector broken or something?" Hajime glanced around to make sure he wasn't the only one seeing that.
Monokuma sprang out once more, "Nope, unfortunately we can't show anything too inappropriate on screen or it might break. What a shame, I'm sure you would've really liked to see Sonia's dream, heheheh."
"Miss Sonia? This is your dream," Kazuichi got that look of lust in his eyes once more, "what would a princess like you be dreaming about, it's okay you can tell me."
"You're a real one, girl. Was it a good one?" Akane had the same curious expression as Kazuichi just without the lustful under tones.
Mahiru was not amused, "Leave her alone, no one's dreams are anyone else's business we shouldn't even be watching each others' in the first place, why are we even listening to Monokuma he's an idiot."
"Say what you like about me but someone in the class is veeery lucky, isn't that right Sonia?"
"Heheheheh."
"Not you Kazuichi."
"What, who is it then? You said lucky," Kazuichi pointed his finger at Nagito, "Is it you Nagito? If you touched miss Sonia I'll-
"Did we not watch my dream already? I think it's very clear where my interest lie," he smirked at Hajime who shuddered, "maybe it's not my place but leave Sonia alone, her life is none of your concern and I don't think she wants you prying into her personal life."
"Is Nagito acting normal for once?"
Chiaki:
"Hajime what are you doing here?" I stared at the boy outside stood outside my cottage, the 10pm announcement had already gone off and it was late.
"Could I play video games with you?"
My face lit up at the question, "Of course, what are you waiting for?" I pulled him in and booted up the console in my room.
I taught Hajime the basics and he caught on eventually but wasn't very good at it even when I was going easy on him.
We gamed the night away, only pausing to get snacks. For a while he tried to beat a level on his own but he took a long time and I fell asleep on his shoulder. He woke me up after giving up and gave me the controller to beat it in thirty seconds.
When the sun rose Hajime thought we spent too long gaming, I told him this was normal for me and he said that was super unhealthy but was willing to stay up all night and be unhealthy with me again.
"I'll play video games with you, Chiaki."
"An ultimate's true dream - for someone to take an interest in their skill without trying to rival them for it." Peko was deep in thought.
"Chiaki, I will play with you."
Hajime was speechless. "Wow you really don't know anything about girls do ya' Hajime?" Nekomaru slapped him on the back quite hard.
"I want to play games!"
"But Chiaki, I play video games with you sometimes what's wrong withe me?" Kazuichi was prodded by the handle of Peko's sword, "hey what was that for?"
"Chiaki I will - oh what's the use no one ever listens to me." Monomi continued to get ignored.
"You didn't take any time to try understand at all did you?"
"Understand what, that she'd prefer to play with Hajime than - oh Chiaki likes Haji- ow!"
Peko poked him again, "No that's not what the dream was about, if I tell you straight you'll never learn. Besides if she did like him why would you say something like that out loud?"
Chiaki stayed silent the entire time but spoke up at the end, only looking at Hajime, "You know what it means, right?"
He nodded.
"But you don't believe me?"
He shook his head. She sighed.
Mahiru:
"Welcome home honey," my husband welcomed me into the house. It was a long day at work and to come home to a clean house and a cooked meal was all I could ever ask for. Until I met my husband I thought all men were the same lazy slobs but he was different, he was sensitive and caring and actually did housework.
My life couldn't have been more perfect but it didn't feel that way. This was my dream but something just felt wrong so the next day when my husband got his by a car and died on impact, past of me felt free. Obviously I was devastated, I loved him and mourned him for months but there was a spark inside of me that just turner into a flame.
A few years later I was married to my wife and we bought a little cottage in the countryside with an allotment of land which we used to grow crops, neither of us worked as we were self-sufficient and we were free to do aa we pleased. I gave up all my morals and dreams for her and I couldn't have been happier. My life wasn't perfect by anyone's standards but my flame was allowed to burn and I could be unapologetically myself, the truest form of living.
Mahiru's face matched her hair and she was on the verge of tears, "Monomi, what the... what the fuck?"
"Mahiru is... a lesbian?" Ibuki did not read the energy in the room at all, "Awesome, well thanks Mahiru, you've given me the courage to come out myself. Everyone, Ibuki Mioda is bisexual."
"Shut up can't you see Mahiru's upset or do you not have a brain in that head of yours," Hiyoko rubbed Mahiru's shoulder and handed her a tissue.
"It's okay, Hiyoko, thank you Ibuki. You know what I can't let this get me down, I've just got to keep moving forward," she stood up and faced everyone, "Yes, I am a lesbian. And if that makes you uncomfortable then you can stuff it you bigoted fuck."
The class stared at her a little excited at the new Mahiru coming out of her shell.
"Hey didn't her wife look a lot like an older version of Hiyoko?" Fuyuhiko whispered to Kazuichi.
Kazuichi shushed him, "Don't stay stuff like that man, Mahiru will have our heads."
Nekomaru:
Everything was dark and all that could be heard was moaning. Then I was doing 'It' to someone inside a massage room. I owner my very own massage parlour and was no longer managing teams but living out my dreams curing athlete's ailments and fatigue.
The ultimate masseuse even visited my business and and commended me for my work. I vowed to one day overtake him and earn my rightful place as the ultimate masseuse, even if that meant losing my position as ultimate team manager.
With my massages I helped all my athletes claim victory for their teams and even helped my best friend Akane, win gold medals in every olympic games for the rest of her life.
I got to live out that life with her as my heart defect never caught up with me so I outlived the ultimate masseuse and spent the rest of my life being called that title.
"Awesome Nekomaru," Akane and Nekomaru high-fived.
"Boring, that was boring!" Monokuma's unwanted presence intruded again, "I wanna see something interesting not whatever that was."
"Don't listen to Monokuma, Nekomaru that is such a hopeful dream, definitely worthy of an ultimate like you."
"Man, I thought that was heading someplace else when it first started," Kazuichi was getting ignored now.
Mikan:
I was at work at the hospital, working relentlessly. There had been an influx of patients and my class had taken up a whole corridor. With all staff working hard to combat this new disease I volunteered to take care of my class mates all by myself.
The work was tough but I lover every moment of it and soon they were all feeling better but I made them stay a couple days longer than they needed to so we could be together for longer. I assigned Hajime and Nagito next to each other and they actually started making civil conversation.
Eventually none of the other nurses could figure out how to fight it so I had to go help other patients but it was fun while it lasted.
"You're hope for us all to get sick?" Sonia was concerned and moved away from Mikan.
"I-it's not what you th-think," the girl was about to cry, "I j-just want to b-be useful to everybody."
"Look at pig barf about to cry to her mommy," Hiyoko spat, "if you're gonna cry you should have thought about that before dreaming we all get sick."
"Hey, Mikan can't help what she dreams of, we all have messed up dreams sometimes like Sonia," Ibuki thought she was being helpful.
"Please do not remind me."
"I'm sorry," she burst into tears, "p-please forgive meee."
Ibuki grabbed her and consoled her, "No sweetie, it's alright, don't listen to them all their just big meanies."
Peko:
We were in the middle of a battle with some hired assassins after Fuyuhiko. My blade cut through every bullet and no one got close to him, all of them died by my hand except one.
This one was the leader and clearly had more expertise than the rest who were no match for my blade but this guys was able to deflect my attacks when he pulled out a sword of himself.
"Peko watch out." Fuyuhiko yelled out.
I glanced back at him and missed the assassin ducking under my blade, which gave him an opening and he plunged the blade into my side.
Fuyuhiko shot the assassin right in the head, killing him instantly, "Peko, no!" He ran to my side and caught me as I collapsed.
"Fuyuhiko..." he pushed my hair out of my eyes and I grabbed his hands, "you've got to live, for me.."
"Peko, this can't be happening." Fuyuhiko mourned for me before I had even passed.
"Don't worry about me... look after yourself."
In my final minutes he kissed my forehead and before he pulled away I pulled him closer and kissed his lips them everything blacked out.
"You dream about dying? Even I find that morbid," No one actually believe Nagito.
Gundham laughed, "So you dream of death too, I see you and I are on the same wavelength."
"Before you make any more judgments, I need you to know that as a the ultimate swordswoman, the most honourable way I can die is in the heat of battle but I don't expect you to understand."
Kazuichi had been nudging Fuyuhiko since he first appeared on the screen, "Dude, dude, dude she dreams about kissing you."
"Argh shut up okay. Read the room, she just died in my arms, I don't think that's anything to celebrate."
The aura in the room was quite sad and no one really knew what to say.
Gundham:
I sat atop a throne forged at the centre of the world, on one side of me was earth, on the other hell. Both lands were joined together, humans and demons lived in harmony and human-demon crossbreeds were exceedingly commonplace making me just like everyone else.
Being the first half-breed, they appointed me to lead over both realms. No longer did I receive mockery or shame for my birth, I could enter a room filled with either demons or humans and be treated like an equal - I finally belonged.
With my dark queen by my side and the four dark devas of destruction in their true form standing guard, I was unstoppable and no one would dare think about disrespecting me.
Which I found to be true when attending the class reunion; everyone was so nice to me and always understood what I was saying. They even let me join in the board games, something they never did during my time at school, and I won every game, using my black magic card I had saved for special occasion. All this hard work belong in was really to fit in with my classmates and my efforts paid off.
"Uhh Gundham, we would be happy to let you join in and treat you the same if you just, umm, just um-
"What Hajime is failing to say here is you're kind of a freak. You act weird and make us uncomfortable."
"That is not what I was planning to say at all."
"Kazuichi, how dare you speak to your fellow classmate that way, how would you like it if I insulted you?"
"I wouldn't mind at all as long as you insult me, miss Sonia."
"This guy, jeez he gets off on anything."
"Gundham is our valued classmate and with his four dark devas of destruction he is more powerful than any one of us. You'd do well not to cross paths with him."
"Why are you defending him so much... Wait is it Gundham - ouch!"
Monokuma reappeared conveniently and hit Kazuichi over the head, "Jeez even I'm getting tired of this. Monomi, play the next dream."
Akane:
I was sprinting down the street doing parkour that was all sorts of cool but this time I wasn't running from anyone, it was all for fun. Eventually I made it to our mansion at the top of this hill where me and my family lived - it was huge, we had at least two rooms each.
When I got in everyone was waiting for me at the dining table, it only just fit everyone on because it's the same one from out old house: gotta make the house a home y'know. Taking my place at the head of the table my siblings screamed their gratitude at me, for working so hard so that they don't have too - and now I'll never hafta again on account of all this money we've got.
Our waiters took out the trays heaping with food, all prepared by Teruteru himself and we dug in immediately, filling ourselves before the main dishes arrived but we made more room because there's always more room to eat and we had an endless supply of food that would never run out.
"Akane, if you're ever having food issues, let me know," Teruteru took off his little chef's hat and held it to his chest, "I will never mind cooking for someone who values my cooking so highly."
"Yeah Akane, an athlete must always make sure they're getting enough protein, you can't skip one day of eating or you're progress could be held back for weeks."
"Akane if you're ever having money issues, just uh, contact the Yakuza and tell 'em to send you to me."
"I too will help you out with any financial issues you may be struggling with, I will always help a friend in need," Sonia wrapped her arms around the girl and Nekomaru came up behind them and lifted them both up.
"Aww thanks you guys," Akane was giving them a thumbs up, "but I'll be alright, none of that fancy stuff in my dream was for me anyway, more for my siblings."
Fuyuhiko:
I was in the kitchen working away at the dinner while Peko was at work. The baby was upstairs asleep and our cozy house was silent besides the sound of water boiling.
Our cottage was located in the Japanese countryside, away from anyone who knew us and isolated enough so no one who did couldn't find us. Peko was putting her skills gained from being a swordswoman into being a postwoman, not the most exciting job in the world but that was why we moved there in the first place, to escape all the excitement.
When we were given this opportunity, we took it without a second thought. All we'd ever wanted was to raise a family, a nice normal life away outside the Yakuza.
Some time later, along came our beautiful baby boy who filled us with so much hope. The three of us got by just fine with Peko's job keeping us afloat and me lending a hand by growing a couple vegetables in the garden. More importantly, we were happy because we were all together.
My son started crying and I went to get him out of his crib, meeting Peko at the bottom of the stairs just as she got in from work, "Hello, did you have a good day? Say hello to mommy." I rocked my toddler in my arms from side to side.
"Hello baby," Peko kissed his nose then kissed me on the cheek, "My day was wonderful, what did you two get up to?" I led her through to the kitchen table after she removed her coat and shoes, "Our day was great too, wasn't it? Why don't we talk about it more over dinner?"
"Smells delicious."
A cacophony of 'awwws' resounded through the room and Fuyuhiko shrugged off Kazuichi who was silently laughing at him for having such a sweet and sensitive side.
"Stop it! Stop it all of you! If I hear one more person say 'awww' I'l explode and kill you all," Monokuma had Monomi's magic stick and bonked people on the head with it, "that was so much more boring than I thought it was going to be, since that was the last one you're all free to go, class dismissed!"
