Work Text:
“You can’t be serious.”
Sam raises an eyebrow as he sips the beer Jev had bought for him. He was not at all sure that what Jev was saying was a good idea.
“I am serious. What better way to show my commitment to Andre then a tattoo.” Jev argues, showing him the name of the local tattoo parlour he had chosen.
“Fast and quick tattoo parlour? Gee that’s a name that sparks confidence right there.” Sam says dryly, shaking his head.
“They have good reviews and I heard Lando went there recently to get a tattoo.” Jev replies, putting his phone away.
“Lando? As in Lando Norris? You really think anyplace that Lando has had a tattoo is good enough for you?” Sam asks, looking surprised.
“He showed me the tattoo he had done. It was quite good.” Jev replies. “He seemed happy with it.”
“No offence but Lando doesn’t seem to be the right person to be getting ideas off of.” Sam comments. “Are you really sure about this?”
Jev bites his lip and looks at Sam. “I am. Lando got his and Max’s wedding date tattooed and I want the same done for me, with mine and Andre’s wedding date. It’s our anniversary next month and I want to surprise him.”
Sam hums softly nodding. “It’s a nice gesture and I understand why you’d want it done but are you really sure you can trust a place called Fast and quick?”
“I’m sure it will be fine.” Jev says gently. “If they did a good job with Lando, surely nothing could go wrong for me.”
Sam doesn’t look convinced.
The day of the tattoo soon arrives and Jev makes his way inside the tattoo shop, excited and nervous. Sam had decided to tag along because, in his words, he wanted to make sure the tattoo went okay.
Why Sam had decided Mitch could tag along was another story entirely.
Mitch looks at the designs on the wall while Jev sits down in the black chair with Sam sat next to him.
Sam has his eyes on Mitch and Jev leans over to whisper to him, “I wonder if he’s thinking of putting a tramp stamp on his backside with your name on it.”
Sam snorts and swipes at Jev’s arm. “I think Mitch has more common sense than some people I know.”
Jev just grins and looks up as the tattooist comes over with the simple date of their wedding on a stencil. He places the stencil over Jev’s wrist and soon prepares the needle.
Jev reaches for Sam’s hand and wordlessly squeezes it for support and then the tattooist begins.
“I don’t believe this….”
“I told you-“
“Sam, shut up. How….how the fuck…”
Jev looks at the red inflamed skin of his wrist where the date 30/03/1818 was written.
“How does someone mess up so badly?” Jev asks, his voice angry as he looks at the numbers. “I wrote 2018 not 1818. How in God’s name can someone get the date wrong when I wrote it clearly?”
“Are you sure you wrote it clearly and not in that fancy script you usually write in?” Sam asks, trying hard not to laugh.
“Of course I wrote it clearly!” Jev snaps, his gaze glowering at Sam. “I wrote it all out correctly! What the fuck am I going to do now?”
Sam hides his amusement and clears his throat. “Uh….maybe get it redone once it’s healed?”
“I can’t show this to Andre! What the hell do I do now?” Jev asks, looking stressed.
“I think he’s going to ask questions if you keep it from him.” Sam points out, the humour fading when he sees Jev’s distress. He places a hand on his back gently. “Just explain and go from there.”
Jev gives a deep sigh and nods. “Okay….”
He wasn’t looking forward to this.
That night, Jev sits across from Andre in the restaurant the German had chosen to have their anniversary dinner. He can feel Andre’s concerned stare as he plays with his food, not looking forward to telling his Husband his foolish mistake.
After a while, Andre can’t take the silence anymore and he reaches across for Jev’s hand. “Jev? What’s wrong?”
Jev looks up at Andre, looking at him sadly. “I’ve fucked up….”
Andre is instantly on alert, squeezing his hand. “What have you done?”
“I….I wanted to get something done for our anniversary…but it’s gone wrong.” Jev almost whispers the words.
“What did you do? Are you hurt?” Andre’s eyes are searching over him and Jev shakes his head.
“I’m not hurt, promise. But I uh…got a tattoo? It’s of our wedding date and the tattooist got it wrong.” Jev tells him, rolling up his sleeve and showing him the tattoo on his skin.
Andre takes Jev’s hand and looks over the words on his wrist, his lips twitching in amusement as he takes in the date. “Well…I can tell you that this is a surprise and would have been a fitting date if I was a vampire.”
“Oh god, shut it you.” Jev mutters, taking his hand out of Andre’s but Andre takes his hand In his again.
“No…no….Yes it’s the wrong date, but it makes my heart feel warm that you’d want to inscribe the date of our wedding on you. It makes you mine.” Andre looks up at Jev, his eyes full of warmth.
“You’re not upset?” Jev asks him, his voice confused.
“Jevy, the way you were acting I thought you’ve done something a lot worse than this. This isn’t your fault and we will get it fixed. I’m just a little in awe you’d go through that for me.” Andre admits, carefully smoothing his thumb over the ink on Jev’s skin. He looks up into Jev’s eyes. “I love you. Okay?”
“I love you too.” Jev whispers, his heart filling with love for Andre.
Andre smiles and he presses a kiss down on the tender skin of Jev’s wrist lovingly.
A few months later, both Jev and Andre are at a tattoo parlour that Andre knew about in the city and they’re getting the tattoo fixed. But this time with a little twist.
Andre’s signature is now against the date. Andre’s desire to mark Jev reflected in the idea Andre has now claimed Jev on his skin.
It’s perfect.
