volleyball on the beach.

Work Text:

Kano never liked things that were easy. He liked challenges, and you knew that. He never made games easy, and sometimes, you liked the challenge. It didn"t matter that you were a couple. He wasn"t going to take things easy. You had been wanting to go on a vacation when the weather started turning warmer. Kano didn"t object, and he started storing money away to save up for your adventures.

You both had stored up to thousands of dollars in the safe in your house. Kano didn"t use banks as he wanted to keep as much money for himself as he possibly could. Anything to avoid paying the government money that they didn"t need. He enjoyed his life of crime and tried to keep you separate from it. He didn"t want you to be involved and wind up getting hurt. Or even used against him or even punished for the things that he did. Very rarely would he ever tell you about something that he had done. The less that you knew, the safer you would be.

You both packed up and traveled to the hotel. Anything that needed to be paid was paid for in cash. Kano wasn"t one to use credit or debit cards. You arrived at the hotel. The sun was shining brightly in the sky. The room was almost like a freezer. Cold compared to the hot weather of the summer day. You sat down, your stuff somewhere in the room. You took the time to cool off while Kano unpacked his belongings. He also took the time to unpack your things if you allowed him to. Then he sat down and waited until you were ready. When you were, you discussed your plans. You had the idea of heading to the beach later in the day, after dinner. That way, it would be cooler and hopefully not as hot as it had been. He agreed, and Kano turned on the TV, giving you both something to do while you waited for the sun to start going down.

When it did, you both headed out, and it wasn"t long before you were on the beach. The hotel was only a short walk away. The beach was nearly empty. Everyone had packed up and headed home. Only the sounds of the waves crashing against the beach could be heard. You headed over to the volleyball court that had been abandoned. Whoever had been here first had also left their ball behind. Kano watched, and you motioned for him to come over. He did, and you asked him for a game, which he accepted. He was full of confidence that he would win. You explained to him the rules, and, well, he quickly realized there wasn"t entirely a way to cheat or make things harder. He went along with your game and had a hard time keeping up and trying to keep the ball off of the ground. He did like challenges, but he wasn"t expecting this. He eventually made a win, but the rest were all yours. He wanted to go again. He wasn"t going to lose. It was simply a test run to get a feel for the game. Whether the first round counted or not, it didn"t matter. He lost again, and he lost the third round.
