Chapter 8

Summary:

Stupid man being stupid and Sun goes uh no no sir (I'm so tired)

Content Warning:
* non-consensual touching
* uncomfortable situation/interaction
* grumpy moon (lol)

Notes:

Sorry for the wait!

* I got into a car accident
* My apartment flooded
* My cat had a negative reaction to his vaccines
* I adopted another cat (she's a cutie pie)
* Turns out I have a freaking concussion from that car accident that I didn't realize because I couldn't tell what hurt on my body (hehe haha autism lol)
* I had what could have possibly been a psychotic break or intense OCD paranoia because I genuinely thought I was going to die from Carbon Monoxide poisoning a week or so ago (it was not fun).
* My dad might be going to prison soon (no I don't want to talk about it so please don't ask questions I just really wanted to get it off my chest- though I appreciate those of you who genuinely do care. I appreciate you guys <3 )

I feel like I've made it. I'm finally a true ao3 writer. Because I have NOT been able to catch a break this year.

This chapter might be all over the place. Honestly I haven't felt inspired to write but that's normal for me. It comes and goes in waves of hyper fixations. Right now my thing is reading and playing Stardew Valley. It'll probably be crocheting and writing again here soon. Fingers crossed because I want to write so bad.

Also, my brain currently can’t decide what tense to use so if there’s past as well as present mixed together in there just know I’m completely aware and just too tired to fix it right now. I can’t decide which I like better 🥲

(That also goes for point of view lol. I’m trying and miserably failing but hey I posted another chapter so I’m content at least a little *_*)

Chapter Text

Sun eyed you as your sulking form all but stumbled to the front desk. Shirt wrinkled, one shoe untied, hair tie only securing half of the delicate strands on your head.

You were a mess.

“Sorry I’m so late-” you practically throw your bag down and whip around to face him. He could feel Moon’s code pressing against the back of his headspace, tense at seeing the dark bags under your eyes.

“My alarm didn’t go off, it won’t happen again-”

“How much sleep did you get over the weekend?”

Sun stared at you expectantly, watching as your mouth opened and closed in surprise before you pressed the palm of your hands against your eyes. As you began to rub them harshly, a sigh left your mouth. It sounded more like a whimper, though he decided against making any comments on it.

“Not much. I’ve always struggled with sleep. I can never fall asleep and when I finally do it’s practically time to get up. My alarm really didn’t go off–”

Sun hummed as he eyed you, large fingers grasping your ponytail before gently tugging. A look of surprise and confusion fell over your face before he quickly but gently moved you around.

“I’ll fix your hair. You can wash your face and tie your shoes. Some cold water should wake you up,” he began to braid your hair with ease.

“Are you not mad?” The timidness of your voice revealed just how nervous you were. Sun reminded himself of how well you’d been progressing. If this had happened a few weeks ago he’d have been more than a little irritated. Now, nearly an hour late, Sun couldn’t bring himself to be upset. It was obvious you’d been trying your best the past several months, and he could work on giving grace when needed.

“Mistakes are made,” Sun replied, humming softly as he twisted strands of your hair together. Within a few minutes you had a rather comfortable braid that fell down your back. He made sure to keep it loose, remembering previous comments on how you hate when your scalp pinches.

You scramble away and make quick work of washing your face and fixing your clothes as he instructed. Sun was already folding laundry and placing piles beside him in neat stacks by the time you returned from the bathroom.

The two of you worked quickly, making sure to gather activities for the day and place them around the room with just enough time to greet the children at the front of the daycare. Parents greeted you with smiles, and Sun felt content with knowing most of them had accepted you as a caretaker.

Many were rather protective of their children. It wasn’t a secret that previous assistants were less than helpful, with more than one child going home banged and bruised from lack of supervision when Sun was busy with another group.

You had proven yourself to be rather helpful, and earned their trust. Something you seemed to realize now, as you shyly smiled and made small talk with parents even as their children squealed and ran away to play.

One man, however, could be seen hovering near the doors. His eyes were on you as you smiled and interacted with families.

I’ve never liked him, Moon commented within their headspace.

Sun stared at the man, white eyes hiding where he was looking. It was easy to pick up on even the smallest levels of irritation this man held– the way his fingers fidgeted and fists clenched at his sides. How his nose scrunched in disgust every few seconds, and how his eyebrows furrowed as you finally realized he was looking at you.

It wasn’t until you froze, shoulders stiff and smile fading, that Sun realized you must already know him. Moon was right; they had never enjoyed talking to the man. His child was a rule breaker- a brat, as Moon liked to call him- and the father wasn’t any better.

Didn’t we ban him? Management should have accepted the request by now.

Moon didn’t reply, instead opting to pay close attention to the man through Sun’s eyes.

Your smile never returned but you appeared more unsure as the other parents left, frantic eyes looking to Sun before the man stepped forward.

Your name left his lips, and Sun suddenly felt irritated at how harsh it sounded. A panicked sound left you and you finally moved, turning in Sun’s direction and b-lining for the animatronic.

That is, until he grabbed your wrist.

Why? You felt yourself tense as panic took control of your body. Luke glared at you but was silent as you became frozen before him. Your eyes met Sun’s, and the urge to hide took precedence over any other thought. The daycare attendant watched as you quickly made your way towards him, having every intention to hide behind him like the coward you were suddenly made to feel like.

This is honestly just pathetic.

But then a larger hand was grabbing your wrist, and you panicked. Without much thought you were swinging your elbow backwards, barely missing Luke’s face as he dodged with a grunt. He caught your other arm.

“What’cha doing here, huh?” he said lowly in your ear. “Finally find the nerve to do something with your life, you whore?”

Tears pricked your eyes. It felt impossible to breathe. What was he doing here? Did his son attend the daycare? A pit grew in your stomach at the thought of seeing this man every day. I’ll have to quit. I can’t be around him. But could you really quit this job after working so hard to make friends with Sun and Moon?

You turned your body as far as you could manage, eyes wild and frantic as you searched for the daycare attendant. What you didn’t expect was for a larger hand to shuffle your body to the side and pluck the hand off of you. A noise of surprise left you and you looked up to find Sun looking at Luke, the same pinched expression he’d used for you on his face.

He was not happy.

“Hello Mr. Mondero!” his tone was overly sweet, “May I ask why you’re in my daycare when I made it explicitly clear you were banned?”

Luke glared at him. “I’m here to make an appeal,” he said through clenched teeth.

Unfortunately, appeals are to be made through phone calls with customer service. Off of property grounds. Any grievances you may have will be taken care of.” Sun’s smile was wide but pinched at the sides- you noted the way his figure stayed stiff while Luke looked like a ball of pent up anger. The man’s gaze fell on you again, and you felt pathetic as you slid further behind Sun.

“I wasn’t aware you’d hired someone new. I’d fire her now and save yourself the trouble-”

“Grievances with staff within the daycare can only be made by paying customers, Mr. Mondero!” Luke cursed as the usually cheery attendant grabbed his arm. “It should also be mentioned that any and all harm to staff can and will be charged with legal action from Fazbear. Please refrain from touching my coworkers in such a manner.”

You looked up at him in surprise, catching his gaze for a short moment before he marched toward the entrance of the daycare, dragging the man behind him. “With that being said, please remove yourself from the premises before I’m forced to call security. It appears they’re low staffed, and I would hate to make Moon work on his break.”

Luke’s eyes widened as he held his hands up in surrender. You don’t catch what he says in return, but you shrink under the glare he gives you before the door shuts him out completely.

A sigh of relief left you, shoulders falling as you placed a trembling hand over your heart.

“I would suggest you take a moment to rest in the quiet corner!” You jump and pull away as Sun placed his hand on your shoulder. He doesn’t comment on the reaction, though you noticed the way his smile tightens further.

“N-No, I’m fine!” You try to reassure him, but the attendant has already placed his hand on your back and began to gently guide you across the room.

“It’s important to listen to your body! Take a few minutes to calm down,” he gently tossed the door to the quiet corner tent open and tilted his head to look down at you. “I’ll retrieve you once your heart rate is back to normal levels.”

It did feel like your heart was going to break free from your chest. And your hands were trembling just as hard as your knees.

Sun appeared to take notice of your shaking as well by the way he squinted his eyes at you. “Fainting is also a concern when it comes to elevated heart rate. Moon will come to check on you once the children are put down for naptime.”

Oh great. You began to protest again but with a little shove you found yourself tripping inside of the tent with Sun closing the flap.
Your gaze shifted across the small enclosure and landed on the small box of fidgets. Sun wasn’t going to let you out until he deemed you relaxed. Moon would probably give you a hard time for taking a break, but wouldn’t it be worth it in the end?

The blanket spread out on the floor shifts as you kneel down to pick up a pillow and a small toy, feeling unsure at first as you try your best to relax. While the noise wasn’t completely blocked out, the lights didn’t feel as bright. And the walls did prove to be useful in pushing away most of the screaming from outside…

The toy popped quietly as your fingers moved along the side of it. You let your body gently shift and sway and love the way everything almost immediately relaxes.

Why were you fighting Sun so hard on taking a break again? You couldn’t be sure.

Stretching your body out, you sigh and smile to yourself. Time passed, but you weren’t sure how much until the tent flap flew open once again. You tensed as you realized it was Moon checking in on you and not Sun.

Had the lights already gone off? You didn’t even notice.

Moon stared at you, hand grasping the entrance as his eyes glanced over you. You winced but sat still. After a few moments of silence he turned away.

“Your heart rate is no longer elevated. Get back to work.”

There was a pause in his movements as his shoulders visibly tensed. You stared in confusion as he huffed out a long sigh, head dropping slightly before he turned to you with an annoyed look.

“Tell me if you need another break. The last thing we need is for you to get overwhelmed and become unable to finish your job.”

He flinched again as a scowl crossed over his face, but didn’t stop again as he finally left the tent.
You stared at the spot he once stood, confusion covering your face before you sighed. A child screamed from somewhere across the daycare and you winced, following behind Moon.

At least he offered another break.
