Chapter 6: Sakura Enrolls!

Summary:

Sakura finally enrolls in school! ...and already the fights break out.

Notes:

Sorry this took forever! I got caught up in life and also I wasn't really sure how to continue this lol. I don't usually have plans when I write stuff.

Chapter Text

Human. She’s still getting used to the idea that she is one, as she was raised in the netherworld her whole life. She doesn’t even remember who her parents are, though according to her brother that’s a good thing.

They had sold him to Grandfather when he was fourteen after working him to the bone his entire existence.

And they only had her so they could do the same.

Thankfully, her grandfather planned ahead in the contract they so willingly signed, saving her life from that same fate.

Sakura: Fourteen-year-old human living in the Netherworld.

No family name, but if she’d have to pick a parent it would be Balam Sakura. He’s too cuddly to not be a good dad. Plus, she really likes nana and pops (her nicknames for Balam Shichiro’s parents since age four).

Opera has no family name either, and she sometimes jokes that having no family name is her family name. mom-pera has become a fun nickname, alongside pa-pera (papa opera)

Dad—Kalego would have been her first pick, but the Naberius clan is rather strict, so he can be her second dad.

But that’s enough backstory. Right now, she gets to enjoy her first day in Babyls as a student. (sure, she was there as a baby/toddler, but she was placed into daycare and given the best education her Grandfather could afford… and as he’s rich, that just so happened to be the very best the netherworld had to offer.)

She’s already talked about not wanting to have the speech to every staff member or Babyls, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

Detection warding glasses make it so she won’t stand out.

And her wings are perfectly working.

This will be fine! She won’t attract any attention until she’s awarded Dalet after the flying race!

Why does nothing ever go as planned for anyone in this family?! Orientation just ended and already her glasses got bumped off and already a fight has been picked! Honestly, the stupidity of some demons… well, maybe beating one of mom-pera’s old records would be fun. How many did they say they beat on the first day again? Was it thirteen before Grandpa stepped in?

Ah, might as well make it sixty-six just to be safe.

“Sakura! What are you doing?!”

Or maybe just thirteen. That’s fine too.

“Don’t worry Papa, they started it. Therefore they only have themselves to blame. And hey, having thirteen lackeys is a good start to my little army.”

Shichiro huffs, not liking that answer. His mask still on, much to her displeasure. She quite likes his pointy teeth.

“You resemble Opera far too much.”

She smiles at that, happy for such a kind comparison. Unlike her brother, she knows what she wants from the start. An army. Her wrath shall ensure her brother’s domain is kept for as long as the two walk the netherworld… and with the help of mana that now naturally flows out of them both, that will be for centuries. Then, as if to dampen her mood on purpose, something rather annoying hits her ears.

“Hey! I’m not done with you yet! You may have beat my underlings, but you won’t get away!”

Ah, him. Grey-ish purple skin, white-blond hair, black pupils with yellow eyes, always looks pissed off, and (the worst offense yet) he looks like he did his best to not get caught copying Asmodeus Alice’s wardrobe.

He’s been picking fights with her without going at her directly since they met at age six.

“Are you finally ready to fight me one on one? Because last I checked you’ve always sent someone else to fight your battles for you. Make like the coward you are, turn tail and run.”

Astaroth Melchor is a coward, capable of moving others, but never himself.

Sakura goes to leave, thinking the fight is over. But he comes charging, thinking that it’s the perfect time to strike.

Her back is turned, everyone’s watching, this will skyrocket his reputation!

So when the world suddenly moves around him, he is unsure of what is happening until he is on the ground and he’s fairly certain his arm is broken. Ah, a perfect “seoi-nage” for all to witness.

A wonderful shoulder throw.

And just like that, he is out.

Just like that, a loyal servant is obtained as she drops him off (and the other students) at the infirmary. Though, she honestly doubts he’ll be loyal at all. He’ll likely try and take her out a handful more times. She sighs, knowing he’ll be trouble in the future… at least she gets to learn how to deal with insubordination… maybe Opera can help with that? They’ll have advice, surely.

Just like that, a new misfit class begins to assemble.

(But I'm a bit too lazy to write an entire show, lol. Also, link to what Astaroth Melchor looks like here.)

Notes:

I didn't know what to name the baby so I just googled Japanese names and thought that Sakura was cute.
