Purple. It’s purple.
Purple shirt, purple socks, purple jacket, even purple hair pins adoring Nagi's fluffy white hair— everything’s purple.
“My god,” Reo breathes out, jaw dropped, then chuckles, “What in the world are you planning? And should I be worried?”
Nagi hums. He glances up from his phone, from his position of laying on comfortably on the floor, at the sound of Reo’s voice.
“Do you not trust me?”
“It depends,” Reo humors him.
Nagi puts away his phone, stretches, before standing up to his full height. He spreads his arms out in a mock greeting.
“Surprise, I guess?”
“Our anniversary is tomorrow, Nagi,” Reo says exasperatedly.
“I know.”
Nagi leans on the wall. The corner of his lips twitches ever so slightly.
‘But, Reo, it won’t really be a surprise if I wait until tomorrow cause I know you’ll be taking a day off.”
“Eh? Who told you about that?”
“No one. You did it last year too.”
“Well,” Reo grins sheepishly, “I guess I’m not as subtle as I thought, huh?”
Nagi snorts quietly. But then it morphs into barely concealed coyness. “So…”
Reo wets his lips in anticipation. He discards his suit jacket before marching up towards Nagi.
And starts kissing him senseless. Against the wall. To hell with their neighbor complaining tomorrow.
“Mm... Reo..."
“These are all for me right?” Reo murmurs, lips leaving trails down Nagi’s collarbones. “All for me right, Nagi?”
Nagi pants heavily, eyes half-lidded, cups Reo’s cheeks in his large palms before kissing him square on the lips.
“Who else could it be? Don’t be stupid. There's never been anyone else besides you, Reo.”
Reo curses under his breath, pushes deeper into the kiss, slipping his tongue between Nagi’s lips, exploring the heat of Nagi’s mouth, before a thought suddenly crosses him.
“Whose idea is this?” Reo murmurs, “‘S not yours right?”
No offense, but Reo knows Nagi pretty well. To come up with a unique surprise like this, normally, would’ve been beyond Nagi.
“Who is it?” Reo pushes, curious. “Bachira? No, wait, Chigiri?”
Nagi only raises his eyebrows amusedly.
“…Is it Yukimiya?” Reo tries again.
Nagi presses his lips, still unimpressed.
“Wait, oh my god, don’t tell me it’s…" Reo gasps, wide-eyed, “Isagi?!”
This time, Nagi flashes him a small smile.
“No way!” Reo groans. “I guess I really owe him one this time, huh?”
Nagi snorts. “Well, Isagi doesn't matter right now.”
"...True, I guess."
Nagi reaches for Reo's hand and places it atop his own hips. The action immediately piques Reo's curiosity.
“What is it?”
“Don’t you want to find out my underwear color too?”
A cheeky smirk plays on Reo’s lips. “What’s better than purple now?”
“I don’t know. Why don't you find it yourself?”
So, Reo does just that.
Hooking his fingers into Nagi’s waistband, he slowly pulls down Nagi’s pants—and the sight that greets him shocks him.
It is purple. The boxer is purple.
But it's not just that.
On the waistband, written in cursive letters is “Mikage Reo’s Treasure”
“Holy shit.”
For a moment, Reo unconsciously holds his breath. He brings his calloused fingers to trace those letters. His gaze glued to it.
Reo would never have guessed that he would find himself completely mesmerized by a fucking pair of boxer.
“This is— wow.. ”
A small smile is still playing on Nagi’s lips.
“Happy anniversary,” Nagi whispers.
The moment is, unfortunately, broken by an obnoxious grumbling from his own stomach. Reo groans. That gets Nagi to frown suspiciously at him.
“You haven't eaten yet? Didn’t you tell me your flight took off like 5 hours ago?” Nagi's eyes widened. “Reo, don’t tell me you haven’t eaten anything since this morning!”
“Uh.”
Reo scratches his head nervously. “Some people just forget, alright…”
“Unbelievable,” Nagi says flatly, “And this comes from the person who's always nagging me to eat more.”
“Sorry.”
Nagi shakes his head. “I have some Chinese leftovers in the fridge. Come on.”
As they eat together, another thought occurs to Reo.
“Hey, Nagi…”
“Mm?”
“I booked us dinner tomorrow night at this, um, this fancy restaurant,” Reo begins sheepishly.
“And?” Nagi prompts him.
“Do you mind wearing a purple suit tomorrow?” Reo blurts. “I…I think I like seeing you in…” He gestures vaguely and trails off awkwardly.
As if oblivious to his boyfriend being flustered, Nagi only hums lightly, “Sure.”
“Yeah?”
Reo visibly lits up. There's a spark in his eyes that Nagi absolutely adores.
‘Sure, Reo, I…”
When he speaks next, Nagi looks at him right in the eyes, staring at him with such fondness that melts Reo's heart.
“…I do like the shade of your color.”
