Work Text:
Hikari was laid out on her bed as the morning sun was doing its best to spread light across the land but instead was blocked by a gray overcast. Hikari rolled over on the other side of the bed as she awoke from her slumber. She reached over on her nightstand to grab her phone in order to check what time it was. 8:32 am was displayed on her screen. Hikari yawned and deduced she could get another couple of hours before starting her day. With her phone still in her hand though she decided that before going back to bed, she'd take care of something first. Hikari unlocked her phone, pressed a couple buttons, and began typing away in her messaging app before finally hitting send.
Good morning Suguri ❤
I miss you 😭
It's been a little while since Hikari last saw Suguri but she understands that Suguri's got her own life now. She set her phone back on the nightstand and pulled the covers over her body and let her mind drift off.
Suguri was in her room rearranging her pillows and setting her sheets back to their correct position as she was making her bed. As she continued putting things in order, there was a tapping on her door.
"Suguri, I'm out of the shower so the bathroom is all yours now." Hime spoke out.
"Oh, thank-" Suguri froze as she turned her head to find Hime standing in the doorway with nothing but a towel wrapped around her. Her short blonde hair was damp, skin glistening from the light in the room. Suguri was stunned for a moment then quickly fixed her sights away from Hime. Hime giggled at Suguri's reaction but then realized she might have come on too strong for something so early in the day.
"I'm sorry Suguri, I wasn't thinking clearly and forgot how revealing I am right now." Hime said while trying to figure out how she could cover herself up more with this one towel.
"I-it's fine! I'm gonna go take my shower now okay." Suguri jumped off her bed and briskly walked past Hime. Suguri quickly entered the bathroom with the door shutting behind her.
Before Hime could really think over what happened with them, Suguri's phone which was placed on her dresser had buzzed a couple times. Hime took a couple of steps towards it to see if it was someone calling her or if it was something else. Hime stopped herself and turned around to inform Suguri about her phone notifications.
"Hey Suguri, your phone is going off!"
Right as Hime's sentence ended the sound of the shower started up and Hime could hear the water hitting the shower floor. Hime was unsure if her message got through to Suguri but figured that she could try again once Suguri got out of the shower herself.
Regardless, Hime was now starting to find herself getting cold and it was about time she got dressed. Hime left the hallway and entered her room. She opened the closet and examined her options.
Does she go for something cute? Something stylish? Does she want to leave the house today and just put on some sweatpants and a hoodie? Hime would grab a hanger and mull her thoughts on the piece of clothing before switching to another piece. Hime knew she could waste a good ten minutes or so and decided on picking a pink, long sleeve shirt that had a cute heart design and some frills along the bottom and where the arm sleeves start. Hime then had to decide if she wanted to wear a skirt or pants.
By the time Hime finally decided on her outfit, Suguri had emerged from the bathroom. Suguri went back to her room while Hime dressed herself. Suguri shut her door and slipped on a plain white t-shirt and some exercise shorts. She opened her dresser and eyed a couple shirts until she heard a chime from her phone. Suguri picked up her phone and turned on her screen to see what was happening.
"Oh, it's just a spam message." Suguri swiped her finger to remove the message off her screen which revealed another message she received earlier.
"Oh Mom texted me." Suguri opened up the message and read it back to herself.
(Now that I think about it, it really has been a while since I last talked with Mom. So much has happened the past few months that I barely had time to think what with that Shifu invasion happening.)
Suguri began typing up a response as her fingers tapped around on her phone.
"Sorry Mom. Life's been kinda hectic lately but I'm doing alright. I love you ❤"
Suguri hit send after looking over her message one more time. She set her phone down on her bed then went back to her open dresser to pick her outfit for the day. As SugurI chose her attire she began thinking back to the last time she visited her mother. If she recalled correctly it was about a month or two prior to the whole fiasco with Shifu and that invasion.
Hikari checked up with Suguri once she eventually heard the news about it, but it was only a phone call that was a couple days after everything had been settled. Hikari was alarmed to hear about the invasion but by the time word had gotten to Hikari, Suguri had already taken care of everything. Hikari was worried that something might have happened to her little girl, but was relieved (and a bit proud) to learn she handled it all by herself.
Though now that she's thinking about it, Suguri never mentioned anything to her mom that Hime has been living with her. Actually, how is she going to introduce Hime?
Hi mom, this is Hime. She's from that ship that attacked the Earth and now she's my roommate.
She might save the introduction for another time until things get sorted out. Just then Suguri's phone chimed again meaning she got another message. Suguri opened up her phone to take a look. It's a response from her mom again.
"Oh goodness. Well I'm glad you're doing okay Suguri. Let me know if you need anything.
I love you too ❤❤❤ "
Suguri smiled as she finished reading the text. Suguri was just about to set her phone down on the bed when she felt a hand touch her shoulder. Suguri turned around to see Hime by her side.
"Oh good you're still responsive. I knocked on your door and called out for you but you didn't say anything." Hime took her hand off Suguri's shoulder. "Is everything okay?"
Suguri didn't realize how focused she got during those text exchanges. "Oh, yeah sorry about that I guess I zoned out there."
Hime walked past Suguri and sat down on her bed. "I was wondering what you might want to do today." Hime began swinging her feet back and forth at the edge of the bed.
Suguri hadn't thought that far ahead and wondered to herself what they should do. Her mind was still thinking of that text from her mom when she began thinking to herself.
Maybe now's a good time to have Hime meet my mom. The longer I put it off, the weirder it will probably be to explain. Plus it has been a while since I've seen her…
"So I have an idea for what we can do today Hime…"
It was a calm afternoon as Hikari was reading a book in her recliner chair. She was enjoying the summertime reading as the peaceful day was going by as she turned the pages. Before too long though her peace was disturbed as her phone which was sitting on the table next to her chair began to ring. Hikari reached over to grab her phone and looked at who was calling. Her face lit up and she promptly answered the call.
"Hello Suguri."
"Hi mom."
"How are you doing sweetie?"
"I'm doing good." Suguri paused for a second before continuing. "Say, I know it's kind of sudden but I was wondering if I could come over to visit today?"
Hikari was ecstatic to hear Suguri's request. "Of course Suguri. I'm just doing some reading at home."
"Great." There was another pause as Suguri contemplated on telling her about the extra company now, or wait until they show up. "Do you mind if I bring someone over?"
Hikari sat up a bit upon hearing Suguri's comment. Suguri rarely ever brings anyone over.
"I don't mind it. What's their name?"
"Hime."
"Hime, okay well I can't wait to meet them. When do you think you'll be over?"
"Hmm… I'd say in about three hours or so."
"Alright, I'll see you when you get here Suguri."
"Okay. Love you mom."
"Love you too Suguri."
The call ended and Hikari set her phone down and gathered her thoughts.
(Suguri's bringing someone over. I wonder when the last time that happened was?)
Hikari began rocking in her chair as she started thinking about what this person might be like.
Hime, that sounds like a girl's name. I'm curious what they're going to be like.
Hikari pushed herself up out of the chair and stretched her body.
"Well there's no sense in thinking about it too much if they're going to come over later. In the meantime I should clean up a bit around here."
Hikari makes a habit of cleaning the house every week, but if Suguri's bringing a guest then she needs to make a good impression. The first thing Hikari did was light a scented candle then she began getting to work on her task of cleanliness.
"You want me to go with you to meet your mom?" Hime asked as she continued swinging her legs from Suguri's bed.
"I haven't had much of a chance to talk with her ever since you and the others showed up here on Earth a few months ago. That and I'd really like you to meet her." Suguri said as she sat down on the bed beside Hime.
"Don't get me wrong I'd love to meet your mom, I'm just a bit surprised is all." Hime repositioned herself so she could look at Suguri more comfortably. "Have you told her anything about me yet?"
Suguri shook her head. "No. The last time I really talked with her was over the phone a couple days after we got the fallen ship situation handled. I haven't said anything about the fact that you're living with me."
Hime slid her hand over and placed it on top of Suguri's hand. "So she doesn't know about us? "
"No, she doesn't know anything." Suguri responded.
"How do you think your mother will respond?" Hime asked while peering into Suguri's eyes.
Suguri took a second to try to imagine the scenario. She couldn't really imagine her mom flipping out or reacting too negatively, she always saw her mom as a very loving and accepting person, but it's hard to guess with something like this.
"Hmm…I want to say that she'll be supporting of us. If anything she'd probably just be upset that I didn't introduce her to you sooner."
"That's reassuring. She sounds like a nice woman, could you tell me a bit about your mother Suguri?" Hime asked. Suguri could see a look of curiosity and wonder radiating from Hime.
"Let's see, where do I even start?" Suguri tilted her head back and tried to pinpoint something on her to best describe her mom.
"My mom is a very warm person. She's always so kind, gentle, and a very sweet human being. When she was in a good mood, she would brighten up any room that she was in. She was like the sunshine keeping me warm and safe." Suguri could feel herself smiling widely as she began talking about her mother. Hime noticed this and thought it was so sweet. "I remember a time when I was little, I was playing in my backyard. My mom called me over from the backdoor. She had some ice cream and we ended up sitting on the little rocking bench we have in our backyard. We sat there enjoying the peaceful weather and I turned to her and she had such a lovely smile on her face. It was such a simple time but it's one that's stuck with me for a long time now."
"She sounds wonderful, I can see where you get it from." Hime remarked quietly.
"Hm? Did you say something Hime?"
"Don't worry about it." Hime said as she lifted herself off the bed. "When are we going to go over there?" Hime asked as she spun around to look at Suguri.
"I'd say in about three hours or so. I was gonna call her about it and let her know we'd be coming over." Suguri said as she eyed her phone.
"Alright, well I'll leave you to it. You've gotten me excited to meet her Suguri." Hime opened up her arms which meant one thing. Suguri stood up off the bed and walked into Hime's open arms. Hime and Suguri embraced themselves in a hug. While Suguri was a bit nervous about this idea of introducing Hime to her mother, all doubt and worry had faded away upon letting her body get wrapped up by Hime. The sweet smell of Hime's shampoo still lingering in her hair, the beating of her heart being felt as their bodies pressed together. Hime's gentle touch as she pulled Suguri closer to her. Hime is a sweetheart but she's also very touchy but in a good way. She loves playing with her or Suguri's hair, she loves hugs and holding hands. Hime is a fiend for affection but she knows how to hold back if she's being too clingy or if Suguri's not in the mood.
The two break apart from the hug and Hime stares deeply into Suguri's eyes. "Thank you Suguri." Hime then walked out of the room to give Suguri some space and to contact her mother. Suguri took a second to gather herself then picked up her phone. After opening up her contact list she took a deep breath and dialed up her mom. After a couple rings the line got picked up and Suguri was in contact.
"Hi mom."
Hikari had cleaned about everything she set out to so now she was back to sitting in her recliner and reading. She was skimming over the pages but not really retaining any of the words as she was thinking what kind of person Suguri was bringing over. Was it a new friend? Were they a boy, a girl? Why did she want to come over now?
All these questions bounced around in Hikari's mind no matter how much she tried to convince herself that she'll learn soon enough and tried to distract herself with other things. Her curiosity was getting the better of her and the only solution was to get her questions answered and hope Suguri showed up soon.
*ding-dong*
"That was the doorbell. Oh God, Suguri's here!"
Hikari stood up from her chair in a swift motion. As she walked to the front door she could feel her heart pounding with anticipation. Her chest tightened as she slowly reached for the lock on the door. After unlatching it she gripped the doorknob. Hikari paused for a moment to take a deep breath and calm herself before she finally opened up the door and see who was on the other side.
"Oh, h-hi mom."
On the left was her daughter Suguri, the girl she'd give the world to if it meant making Suguri happy.
"Hello Suguri!"
Which means standing next to Suguri…
Hikari turned her head and looked at the figure at Suguri's side. It was a pretty girl with short blonde eyes and beaming red eyes that were a similar hue to Suguri's.
"You must be the one Suguri was telling me about." Hikari asked while sizing the girl up from top to bottom.
"Mom, I'd like you to meet Hime." Suguri said while shifting her gaze over at her companion. Hime bowed dainty and gave a big smile at Hikari.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs.…"
"Oh you can just call me Hikari." Hikari stepped out of the doorway and opened up the door further. "Come inside, we can chat more here."
Suguri and Hime slowly walked in the house one after the other and Hikari shut the door behind them. The girls took off their shoes as there was an uneasy feeling lingering in the air. Hikari herself was also feeling a bit nervous but tried not to show it.
"Make yourselves at home girls. Suguri why don't you take Hime in the living room and we can talk there." Hikari mentioned as she was eyeing the new girl. "Do you girls want a drink, a snack or anything?"
Suguri and Hime briefly looked at each other then returned their gaze to Hikari.
"We'll take some water." Suguri responded.
"Alright, I'll meet you two out there in a minute."
Suguri then led Hime through the hallway and into the living room as Hikari went into the kitchen to fetch a drink for everyone. As Hikari began opening a cabinet to fetch some glasses she began collecting her thoughts of her first impression on Hime.
"Hime seems nice and well brought up. She's got a respectful and dignified air about her."
Hikari began reflecting back on how Suguri was talking and acting when initially pitching this idea of introducing Hime to her and how she was a bit nervous looking at the front door just now.
The tall glasses were now about half full of water which Hikari set them on a small platter and made her way to the living room. Hikari could hear the girls chatting but didn't bother focusing on what their conversation entailed.
Suguri and Hime were sitting on the couch next to each other with a little coffee table in front of the couch. Hikari set the platter with the cups of water down on the coffee table.
"There you go girls." Hikari then sat down on the sofa that was positioned on the right end of the coffee table. There was still a bit of tension in the air as the girls reached for their respective glasses and drank a couple gulps of water.
"So Hime…" Hikari decided to be the one to break the ice and get the ball rolling. "I'm Suguri's mom. I'm not sure what all she's said about me but I have to ask, what brings you by today?"
Hime kept her posture maintained and focused her attention on Hikari.
"Well Hikari, allow me to fully introduce myself. I'm Hime, I was a part of the ship that came to Earth a few months back. I was in charge of keeping the residents safe and happy to a point they called me the 'Guardian' of the ship."
Hikari simply nodded in response. She felt like there was something unique about Hime, but she wouldn't have guessed that she was a being from an alien spaceship.
"I wanted to introduce you to Hime because I've been letting her live with me ever since she arrived on Earth." Suguri followed up.
"Living with you?" Hikari was surprised. "Ever since that ship showed up?"
Suguri and Hime nodded in unison.
"Don't you think that was a bit fast? Are you sure you could have trusted her?" Hikari asked while looking at Suguri.
"Well at first it was to give Hime a place to sleep since they didn't really have anywhere to go with their ship crashing and all. Then after a while, I kind of just let her live with me." Suguri responded. Hikari took a moment to process this before accepting Suguri's decision.
"Well you must trust her if you're letting her live with you. Though why haven't you said anything about this until now?" Hikari asked.
"Things got pretty busy ever since all the stuff with the ship happened. I wanted to help Hime and everyone else get adjusted to life on Earth. It wasn't really until you messaged me today that I thought to introduce you to Hime. It's not like I wanted to keep her a secret to you, I was just so busy." Suguri reiterated.
Hikari understood Suguri's position though wishes she could have known about this sooner regardless. She then shifted her eyes over to Hime who had still kept up her posture and looked confident.
"So Hime, are you aware about my daughter's power? She's a very powerful girl who's done a great job at keeping this planet safe." Hikari was proud of her little girl and wanted to make sure Hime knew what she was signed up for. To be honest, Hikari could sense a power coming from Hime beyond her upright and calm demeanor. She wasn't sure what Hime was capable of, but again wanted to make sure of things.
"Oh Suguri is a strong girl and I'm very happy to have met her. She's a nice and dependable girl who's shown me many wonderful things since I've arrived here." Hime mentioned as she shot a glance at Suguri.
"I'm glad to hear that Suguri was a good host to you and you've enjoyed your time on Earth so far." Hikari looked at Suguri and smiled then turned her sights back on Hime.
"I want to know a little more about you Hime. What do you like? What are some of your hobbies? What was it like on that ship?" There were many questions Hikari had for Hime but figured she'd start off with the easier ones.
"Well, I like flowers. I love to dance and see the world. I think this planet is very beautiful and I want to see more of it."
"You know how to dance?" Hikari pressed Hime on this matter.
"Mhmm. I had a lot of alone time while I was on the ship and while I'm mostly self taught, I've picked on some ballet, a few ballroom routines, and a bit of contemporary. I find dancing to be a beautiful way to express yourself. Whether it be with a partner or by yourself, there's so much you can communicate via dancing that you might not be able to get through words alone."
"Ahh, a woman of culture I see." Hikari grinned at Hime and then turned her head over to Suguri. "I tried to get Suguri to take lessons when she was young, but she didn't have much of a sense of rhythm nor did she have much interest back then."
Hime turned and also looked at Suguri. "You didn't tell me that Suguri."
Now having all eyes on her, Suguri felt a bit embarrassed over this topic about something she did as a little girl.
"It was a long time ago and I only did it for a few months. Besides, I wasn't very good at it." Suguri could vaguely remember a time when she got frustrated in class and being stuck in that uncomfortable tutu. The teacher was such a perfectionist and would stress over the smallest details, never mind the fact the class was full of little girls.
"That's all the more reason I'd like for you to practice with me Suguri. It's much different learning one-on-one with somebody than being in a instructed classroom with." Hime gave an open invitation to Suguri who was quite hesitant about taking.
"I'll think about it." Suguri knew there was no escaping Hime once she gets in her groove and would have to dance eventually, but she was going to save that problem for her future self.
"By the way girls." Hikari spoke up to bring the attention back to her. "Would you two like to stay for dinner?"
Suguri and Hime looked at each other then back at Hikari.
"Yeah we'd be happy to." Suguri answered.
"Great! I was going to start cooking here in a little bit and I wanted to make sure if you two were going to stick around." Hikari declared.
"Thank you for cooking for us." Hime spoke out.
Hikari waved her hand to signify it wasn't all that impressive. "It's my pleasure. I don't get a lot of company around here and want to mark the occasion."
"By the way, if we're going to be eating here, do you mind if I use your bathroom? I'd like to wash my hands and clean up a bit before I forget." Hime asked politely.
"Oh of course. If you go up the stairs there, it's the first door on your right." Hikari answered as she directed Hime to the area.
"Thank you. I'll be right back." Hime rose up from her seat and made her way up the steps and into the bathroom. Hikari and Suguri were left in the room and Hikari decided to speak up.
"Hime is a sweet girl."
Suguri turned her head and looked at her mom. "Yeah, she's nice."
"Mhm, I like her." Hikari relaxed back into her chair. Upon hearing those words, a big smile formed on Suguri's face.
"So Suguri…" Hikari paused to let Suguri focus on her. "How do you feel about Hime?"
Suguri took a moment to gather her thoughts and think about how to really answer that big question.
"I…" Suguri hesitated for a second as she envisioned Hime in her mind. "I like Hime. A lot."
Hikari smiled as Suguri confided that to her. She stood up from her seat and sat down next to Suguri. "That's good. You should tell Hime that, make sure she knows it." Hikari placed her hand on Suguri's back and gently rubbed it.
Suguri let her body relax as her mother's hand was reassuring her body and mind that things were alright.
"...Was it that obvious?" Suguri asked as her cheeks were a tad flushed.
Hikari chuckled and then got in close and hugged Suguri.
"Sweetie, I'm your mother. I can tell when something's different with you no matter how hard you might try to hide it." Hikari broke away from the hug and stared into Suguri's red eyes. "Whether you're feeling down or sad, or if you're really happy, I can pick up on these things." Suguri grinned and hugged Hikari back.
"Thanks Mom. And thanks for being so accepting of Hime." Suguri separated herself from Hikari.
"If your partner is nice and they make you happy, then they're fine with me. Hime seems like a good girl and I hope you two keep each other happy." Hikari brushed Suguri's bangs away from her eyes and smiled warmly at Suguri. It was a tender feeling to Hikari seeing Suguri reach another stage of her adulthood and find someone to be in a relationship with. Despite how strong Suguri becomes, or how old Suguri gets, she will always be Hikari's precious little girl.
The sound of a door opening was heard and shortly after Hime came back into the room. Hikari then stood up and let Hime reclaim her seat next to Suguri. Hikari took her original seat back as Hime sat down next to Suguri.
"I've got one final question for you Hime and then I'll stop pestering you for a bit." Hikari clasped her hands together as she leaned forward in her chair a bit. "What is Suguri to you?"
Hime had a look of bewilderment as she was asked that rather suddenly, but she regained her confident look and smiled at Hikari.
"Suguri is a wonderful girl who I appreciate for giving me a place to stay and has shown me a great time around this planet." Hime took a slight pause and then continued her praise. "She's kind, dependable, cute, and she's my favorite person in the world right now."
Suguri couldn't stop herself from blushing with all these compliments being thrown at her, especially in front of her mom.
"So you like her? She's treating you well?" Hikari asked.
"She's treating me fabulously in fact. She cooks me meals, takes me shopping with her, I'm always enjoying her company." Hime then turned and looked at Suguri. "And yes, I do like her. I would say that I love her even."
If Suguri was turning red before, she was now completely beat red and looking like a tomato with how flushed she was. She couldn't bring herself to keep eye contact with Hime after that remark and looked down at the floor.
Hikari gave a quiet chuckle then stood up. Hime and Suguri looked up at Hikari who walked over and stood in front of Hime. After a moment of gazing into Hime's eyes, Hikari then opened up her arms out in front of Hime.
"Come here Hime, let me properly welcome you." Hime tilted her head in confusion and slowly stood up. Seeing Hime's puzzled look made Hikari elaborate a bit. "You obviously care about Suguri and after having this talk, I think I can trust you with keeping my little girl happy." Hikari motioned her hands saying to 'come here, bring it in' and Hime took a couple slow steps before letting herself get wrapped into Hikari's arms. "If there's one thing you should know about Hime it's that I'm a very huggy person and Suguri can attest to that." Suguri nodded as Hime wrapped her arms around Hikari and hugged her back.
"You're a nice girl Hime, and it's good to meet you." Hime let herself get swallowed up in Hikari's embrace. Hime could notice a difference in how Hikari and Suguri handle their hugs. Suguri was a bit reluctant at first but would end up hugging very tightly. Like Suguri would be hesitant on revealing her emotions too much or being too wanting, but by the end she wouldn't want to let go. While in Hikari's arms Hime felt it was comforting, relaxing, and safe like there was a warm and calming cloud around her.
"Thank you. It's nice to meet you as well Hikari."
Hikari and Hime separated and Hime walked back to Suguri. Right when Hime was about to sit back down, Hikari stopped her.
"I've got an idea Suguri, why don't you go take Hime to see your father while we're at it?" Hikari suggested.
"Yeah, it has been a while since I've gone out there." Suguri rose up from her position and grabbed Hime's hand. Suguri then led Hime through the house navigating around the furniture and out the back door. They stepped out into the yard which was a wide open and large property space. There were a few large trees past the porch.
"Follow me, it's out there at that tree in the back." Hime continued to follow Suguri's lead as she directed her past various types of plants and flower arrangements. Hime could tell someone in the family had quite the green thumb with all the different types of flora growing around their backyard.
Suguri walked around the large tree which gave off a large patch of shade from blocking out the sun. "Here we are." Suguri stopped and looked down. Hime matched Suguri's gaze and saw a tombstone near the trunk of the tree. It was a bit hard to read due to wear and erosion but she could make out the name "Yukito" on it.
"This is my dad's grave." Suguri spoke out. "I talked a little bit about him before, but I owe a lot to my dad. He was gentle, kind, and very passionate about his dreams. He was the one who really inspired me to help restore the planet, his eyes would light up whenever he got on the topic about it." Hime felt Suguri tighten her grip a bit as she continued talking about her dad. "He was really into his research but he always made time for me. He'd play with me, brush my hair, and he would drop whatever he was doing if it meant helping me out with something."
There was a pause as Suguri had to collect herself and stop herself from breaking down into tears.
"He sounds like an amazing man." Hime brought up.
"He was. He would have loved to meet you." Suguri remained strong and she felt Hime tighten her grip to let her know it was okay. "I looked up to my dad a lot, and I wanted to help him whenever I could. That's why I volunteered myself to help him out with his life's work which his team called Project One. My mom also helped work on it too, she was kind of the prototype to the system that they implemented on me. The experiment affected my mom in a way that led her to being stronger and live much longer than a normal human, which from what the doctors said, ended up affecting me a bit too when I was born." Suguri raised her head and looked up to the canopy of the tree to try to see what little bits of the sky that she could. "It was thanks to my dad's research that I was able to become this strong, that I was able to keep this planet safe…" Suguri turned her head and stared at Hime. "And that I was able to meet you." Hime could feel her heart skip a beat from Suguri's comment. Suguri and Hime locked eyes with each other as a light breeze scattered it's way through the backyard. Sounds of leaves and branches dancing in the wind along to the tune of a windchime that was hanging from the back porch.
Hikari stood at the backdoor as she peered out at Suguri and Hime off in the distance. She'd only just met Hime but she felt that she could trust Hime well and was happy to see her daughter Suguri happy with someone. She was pleased to see her daughter be able to live out a normal life and enjoy things like how a normal girl would. Hikari was thankful that Suguri wasn't too burdened with protecting this planet and taking up the so called role of the "Guardian of Earth." She was looking forward to getting to know Hime more and seeing how the two of them would grow and develop in the future. It felt strange seeing her baby girl start a relationship, but it was all a part of seeing her grow up. The planet was in the safe hands of Suguri, and now those hands are able to hold hands with someone who loves her dearly.
