On the evening of April 1st, 2000, Kurosu Jun sits in front of his dresser, preparing to enact the best prank the world has ever seen. He looks himself in the mirror as he applies deep red to his lips, batting his eyes. Tatsuya had asked him if he wanted to come over and play video games together, but he had better ideas. It's April Fools day, and once upon a time he had been a clown. He can't let it pass him by.
Before Lisa had suggested putting makeup on him, Jun kept his crossdressing hobby a strict secret, not wanting any more unwanted attention than he already got in his daily life. There wasn't much space in the world for people like him, Jun thought, but Tatsuya didn't see it that way. He saw him staring, felt how his eyes would linger on his hips and his thighs. He's always wanted him, especially with his quirks. Tatsuya has a way of making him feel like he's hot.
Jun messes with his long black wig, parting it to the side, covering his eye. When he has everything just so, he smiles at himself. Tatsuya will get quite the surprise when he comes to pick him up. Maybe he'll be so consumed with lust he can barely contain himself!
"Are… Are you sure you want to wear that? Not even a jacket?"
It isn't quite the reaction Jun had expected, but Tatsuya's flushed face is quite the treat. Jun clasps his hands together, leaning forward so that Tatsuya can see down the front of his dress. Slip. It's more of a slip, really. "Ah, Tacchi… is there a problem?" He asks him coquettishly. Tatsuya's eyes catch on the sight of the bralette Jun is wearing beneath the dress. He's always known he looks good in violet.
Tatsuya looks away, going even redder. "Uh… nope." He shakes his head, grabbing the tandem helmet and handing it over without sparing Jun another glance. Jun chuckles, carefully adjusting his wig before he puts on the helmet.
He's never ridden a motorbike in a dress before, and certainly not in one this thin. The wind cuts right through him, the cool April weather chilling him to the bone and leaving him clinging to his boyfriend as they go. It's with some confusion that Jun realises they're not headed to Rengedai- Tatsuya took a wrong turn. "Where are we going?" He asks him, but the bastard pretends he can't hear.
"You've got to be kidding me."
"I'm not."
"Tatsuya, you've got to be kidding me."
Jun can't fucking believe it when they end up parking on a side street of Aoba Drive, Tatsuya locking up his bike and putting an arm around his waist. "Where are we going?" He hisses, looking up at him. "I thought we were going to yours??"
They walk forwards briskly to avoid people staring, curious if that's Kurosu Junko over there or just a lookalike. Jun holds onto Tatsuya tightly, embarrassed. He feels incredibly exposed like this, out in the city with nothing but satin and lingerie separating himself from the world. "Er… April Fools?" Tatsuya shrugs as they stop outside of a restaurant Jun recognises all too well.
Ever since moving back to Sumaru City, Jun has always wanted to go to Clair de Lune. Renowned for its award winning menu, they supposedly serve some of the best authentic French cuisine in the country.
"April Fools?!" Jun crows, "What do you mean April Fools? Why on earth would you take me out for dinner on April Fools?!"
"Listen," says Tatsuya, unbothered, "I don't like it either but their waiting list was really long."
All of a sudden, Jun remembers. Months ago, in the depths of Xibalba, he'd gotten so hungry he had thought he would faint. It might be nice to enjoy a quiet French dinner with you, he'd said, smiling. It had been a joke, of course. He had been preparing for the worst, uncertain of their future. He hadn't seriously thought that Tatsuya would take it seriously. He stares in disbelief. "I've been outdone." He says, shocked. "You really got me, Tatsuya. I didn't expect this at all."
Tatsuya scratches the back of his neck. He isn't exactly wearing what Jun would consider date attire, a white t-shirt and faded blue jeans with his red leather jacket. They look completely unfit to be in such a fine establishment. "I booked a table if you wanna go in… I mean. You don't have to. I hope you're not mad I took you out like this."
Tatsuya gets to have his cake and eat it too, dinner and a show. Jun adjusts the strap of his dress, still feeling like he's being ogled. "I'm not… Mad… I'll go." He says, "But you're in so much trouble for this later…"
Tatsuya's eyes light up, and he smiles so brightly that Jun fears he could tan. "Oh!" He flashes him that beautiful grin for just a second before his face goes blank again. "Good. I'm glad." He glances around, then gives Jun a peck on the lips.
"Tatsuya!" Jun laughs, playfully hitting his arm, "So much trouble. Hey, hey, stop it!" He waves Tatsuya's hand away when he tries to play with his hair.
"Do your worst." Tatsuya whispers in his ear, grabbing his hand and holding it. Jun's heart skips a beat. "Mm, now c'mon, we've got a reservation to make."
Of all the delicious meals Jun eats that night, Tatsuya is the sweetest.
