Chapter Text

Chapter 20

Megan glanced over at Leon who looked slightly disappointed as Melody was surprised at Megan's outburst. She clenched her fist, hating the feeling she had in her chest, "I'm gonna go head out to the K9 department! You two just do whatever you want." With a huff, she starts walking away from the two.

Megan doesn't look back even for a second, not realizing that her tears were threatening to come out of her eyes. It stung for a second and when she got to blink, her tears started flowing automatically.

Damn it... Why am I feeling like this... I don't want to feel this way anymore... it hurts... I hate it... I hate how it makes me feel...

Leon watches Megan walk away in a slight hurry, he can't help but feel like part of him is missing. He clenched his fists without realizing, an aching feeling around his heart. He turns away, not wanting to watch her walk further.

Megan... is this how you feel about me... I can't believe I had a slight hope that we were... I guess we shouldn't be more than friends like you wanted... I shouldn't have tried to think that we could be... something else...

With the two now far from each other, they still seem to be frustrated with their own emotions. With a heavy heart, Megan entered the K9 department as Leon remained standing next to Melody, thinking the same thing.

"Maybe it's best we never love each other that way..."

Melody turns over to Leon, "You okay?..." breaking out of his daze. He glanced back to Melody, "Uh... Yeah, I'm fine." Wanting to change the subject he turns to her, "So what exactly did you find? You said you figured out the whole thing, you have to tell me."

Melody nods, "Yeah. So what I got is that James and Mike are going to stink bomb the whole gym, graffiti the cop's cars, and then ruin the graduation ceremony by unleashing the K9 police dogs loose."

Leon tries to register all this information, "Wait all that in one day? How would they even pull it off? It's almost impossible."

Melody agrees, "Yes, but what caught my interest was there is a third person who will be behind the scenes of all this. I don't know exactly who they are but that's what I'm trying to find out. Seems like lately, they caught on me watching them 'cause they are being very careful around us."

"So all we need to do is find out who this third person is, now that we have all of this information we need to have actual proof, or else it's our word against theirs."

Melody chirps, "Which is exactly why I have these," she pulls out a bugging device and a body camera, Leon is impressed but also a bit nervous, "Where did you get this? Won't you get in trouble for having them?"

"I asked one of the officers if I could borrow this very quickly for a project that I'm working on. They said to return it after it was finished and in safe condition. We might not have much time if graduation is only a few days away."

Leon groans, "And that's if we even find the third person in this whole situation..." he then realizes something she mentioned earlier, "Wait a minute, did you say that they were going to release all the K9s at the end?"

"Yes, I did... why?" Melody asked with confusion.

Then it dawned on him, that Megan was mentioning how she was asked to help out with taking care of the dogs. If she was over there helping then it would be perfect to pin her for all of this happening considering that Mike and James are planning to put all this on her.

Melody could see the dread in his eyes, she gently tapped his arm, "Leon, you okay?" He then grabs her by both shoulders, almost shaking her, "We got to stop this. Megan told me she was going to help at the K9 department, this is how they are going to pin it all on her."

"But Leon, the only thing we know that could be pinned on her is just the K9s being free. They can't pin the stink bombs or spray cans on her." Melody had a point about those two, he still doesn't know how exactly they will pin all of this on her but he isn't going to stand by and find out until it's over.

He sighs, "True, but I won't take any chances. I have to go find Megan." He was about to walk over to the K9 department but stopped himself, remembering how Megan walked away in a huff after some students started teasing them about being a couple. He wasn't sure if he should go ahead and get Megan to explain all of this or if she would just avoid him so he could be around Melody like she said.

Letting out a frustrated sigh, he runs his hands through his hair, "What am I gonna do?..." He didn't want Megan to get in a huge amount of trouble for the prank but he was worried she would be keen to having Leon stay with Melody. Not liking the options he turns to Melody, "We have to stop this."

Meanwhile, Megan enters the building feeling conflicted. Must I always be so stubborn, for god's sake I didn't even read my father's letter because I was what? Scared? That's just some bullshit excuse I gave myself. I don't think I'll be ready to read it...

"Hey Megan," she was brought to reality by Kim's voice. She turns over to him, "Oh hey Kim." He gave her a warm smile, "Here to help out?"

"Yeah, I am. So what shall I do first."

"You can start by cleaning out the dog equipment, then I'll let you know what else to clean up." Without delay she gets to work, looking over at the dogs who are barking away. This will clear my mind about these feelings, and then all of this will be a silly memory.

After a while Kim checks on her to see how she is doing, giving her a small smile, "The dogs aren't giving you trouble right?" She shakes her head, "No, they seem to behave." He gave her a nod, "Well it's almost time for their baths, mind helping out?"

Megan starts to head over to the supply closet, "Sure thing, Kim." Once she gets the supplies ready Kim checks the time, "Megan, I'll be right back I got something important to do. Think you can manage without my help?"

"Yeah, I can do it." She starts setting up the bath and looks at the dogs, "Alright you dirty boys, let's get you cleaned up." She took one step and the dogs started running away from her, she let out a sigh, "This might be a bit harder than I thought."

Before Kim could exit through the back door, he took a glance at her to see her trying her best to get the dogs to take a bath. He slipped through the door and let out a small mischievous laugh, "Well, are we ready to start this plan or what?"

Two sets of footsteps walked out of the shadows, revealing Mike and James, flashing ominous smiles at Kim. Mike starts the conversation, "Yes, but first to start our plan we just need you to make sure that Miss Goodie two shoes will take the fall."

Kim nods, "Don't worry, I got it covered. I asked to volunteer to help out with setting up preparations for the graduation ceremony. She won't even realize that her kindness will be her undoing."

James laughed, "Yeah, that will teach that Baker bitch for pinning Mike down on the ground. Who does she think she is?"

Mike scoffed, "I know right? I was just giving her some valid advice but the ungrateful whore didn't want it. It's all worth it knowing that she would get sent here, good thing you said that you needed some extra hands on that."

Kim chuckled, "It was simple. After you told me how she is I wanted to see her what happens for messing with my little brother."

Mike and James nodded, with James getting upset by the minute, "I can't wait for the whole academy and her peers to watch her downfall. She will be forced to lose her certificate of completion and leave the school forever."

Mike chuckled, "And when she does, we will cherish that moment till the day she dies."

James huffs, "Well, we don't have just her. I noticed that Leon and his little gal were spying on us. We can't be too careful if we don't want them up our asses."

Mike scoffs, "I'm sure you can come up with something to make them go away. Leon will do anything to try to stop us... but not for long."

Kim checks the clock and goes to the door, "Well I'm gonna go check on our runt, wouldn't want her to get any ideas." He waves at the two and enters the building, he can hear her struggling to bathe the dogs. He leaned against the wall with a chuckle, "Having trouble?"

"A bit... but I got most of them clean..." He then walks over to her, "Here let me help." He carefully held a dog in place, "I'll rinse, you scrub." She nodded and started scrubbing the dog's fur, Kim glanced at her for a bit before he spoke, "You know, these dogs are gonna miss you when you graduate. Ever thought of getting one of your own?"

"Maybe once or twice, but I think I'm fine with no dog."

"Is that right?"

"Yeah."

Kim continued to watch Megan bathe the dogs, he could practically feel his excitement about to burst at the fact of Megan getting her karma. He just wants it to happen so soon, but all good things come to those who wait. He clears his throat, "Megan."

She looks up at him, "Yes?"

"I was offered to help out with the decorations for the graduation ceremony. I'm not exactly done with most of them but would you be so kind and help?"

"Sure, what exactly do you need help with?"

"Well, the banners they had before are all old and almost trashed. I figured that I'd paint up a new banner. I figured that instead of usual paint we can use spray paint instead since spray paint doesn't take that long to dry."

"Spray paint? Sounds fine I guess. What else will we need to do?

"After we spray paint the banner, we should be able to get a box of confetti poppers, balloons, and other things. However, they don't want us to open it since they want everything to be nice and neat. I was even warned that the box itself would burst open if not handled with care. So it's best we just carry the box and put them safe."

"Oh okay, and that's it?"

"Yeah, nothing much. They just want it to be done and over with so it shouldn't take much time for you."

"Okay then."

"So are you excited to graduate?"

Megan let out a small laugh, "I'm very excited... this is my dream job... I worked so hard to make it here, so getting to graduate with everyone makes me feel... appreciated."

This is too fucking perfect. Kim then responds, "I bet, I see people like you come and go with that same dream. I'm sure you will be the best, after all, you are a smart person, yes?"

"I am. I've been having good grades and such."

Of course, she has, what a teacher's pet. He then dries off one of the dogs, this is the moment where the first phase comes into play, "Say Megan, do you know how to spray paint?"

"Not really, I never used spray paint before."

Kim softly chuckles to reassure her, not wanting to reveal anything else. Perfect.
