Maybe Silena did complete the rite of passage of cabin 10.

Notes:

English is not my first language, I'm still practicing.

This is my practice.

Work Text:

Maybe Silena Beauregard wasn't the only member of Cabin 10 who refused to go through the rite of passage.

Perhaps Drew Tanaka refused to complete the rite when she started dating the head counselor of cabin 7.

Maybe Aphrodite's daughter liked how nice he was to her, mayhap she enjoyed the little archery lessons Apollo's son gave her, maybe she loved Lee Fletcher.

But when the Battle of the Labyrinth came, one of the fallen was Lee.

Silena had hugged her sister; she had comforted her after she lost her boyfriend. Drew had cried when no one was looking, she had cried for weeks because she couldn't erase from her mind the last smile that Lee gave her along with a "We will get out of this together. If not, take care of my siblings for me”, but above all she could not erase from her memory the image of the lifeless body of the son of Apollo, of him burning in a golden shroud.

Charlie and Silena had to hold Drew as Michael gave her Lee's bow.

When Silena's boyfriend died, Drew swore to herself that Luke would die, and when she found out there was a traitor in the camp, she swore to feel nothing but joy when they died. She swears it in front of Silena, no more broken hearts in cabin 10, not as long as she was still alive.

Then the war broke out, even though her grief and her concern for her sister, she remained in the Battle of Manhattan.

It took all her effort not to break down when Michael Yew disappeared on the Williamsburg Bridge, she searched for him for hours without a break, finding only his bow, causing her and the Apollo cabin to be left in shambles, only to have to rebuild themselves to stay on the battle.

It hurt her to see Silena fight the Drakon, and it hurt like hell when her sister confessed to being Cronos' spy. It hurt her not to keep her promise to herself. She hated crying for Silena, hated it as much as hated calling her a traitor.

Every time that word left her lips, it was like a stab to her broken heart.

Because maybe the hero did completed her rite of passage.

Perhaps she didn't break Charles Beckendorf's heart.

Mayhap she broke the heart of someone who loved her more.

Perhaps, Silena Beauregard broke her sister's heart.

Notes:

I had to do it. Most of the fandom hates Drew, but I can't. So here is my love for her.
