Chapter Text
It had been almost 3 months since you and Lucio’s fight. You have been camping out at Asra’s in your old room. You still think about that night almost every day. The shame you felt knocking on Asra’s door and the comfort when he took you in his arms. You cried for hours, trying to get the story out. For the following week after you almost exclusively stayed in your room.
The first day after your fight you didn’t hear from Lucio at all, but the second day, he came over to the shop.
Lucio had opened the door so hard that it hit the wall, rattling the merchandise on it. With a roll of his eyes Asra addressed Lucio.
“Hello Lucio, to what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Where are they,” Lucio spit out immediately.
“They don’t feel like talking to you right now, Lucio,” Asra answered with a glare. Without missing a beat, Lucio headed for the stairs, Asra quickly blocked him. “I said they don’t want to talk right now Lucio,”
“Please, just let me speak with them, I’m sure we can work this whole thing out,” Lucio said, trying to give one of his signature smirks, but just ended up looking awkward.
“No, give them some time,” With that, Lucio started to turn around, Asra let out a sigh of relief. But before Asra knew it, Lucio was shoving past them and running up the stairs.
“Y/N, please, let's try and talk about this,” Lucio said as he knocked at the door. He continued to knock and plead, but got no response. Asra stood at the top of the stairs watching Lucio, it was a sad sight. After another minute Lucio got a response.
“Please just go Lucio,” you spat from the other side of the door. Lucio could hear the soft cries you let out. With a defeated look, he turned and walked right past Asra, down the stairs, and out the door, still slamming it behind him.
It was a week until you heard anything from Luci after that. The week after he sent flowers and a card. You refused to read the card. You didn’t understand why Lucio wasn’t taking this chance that you were giving him. All you wanted was for him to be happy, and you felt deep in your heart that you couldn’t give him the happiness he wanted and deserved.
For the rest of the week he sent gifts and cards, you read none of the cards and sent back all the gifts. This continued for the rest of the first month. The second month he tried to visit again but was turned away. So for another 2 weeks he sent flowers, but then he stopped. In a way, you felt happy, feeling that this was a sign he was moving on. Until, a month and a half later when you got an invite for tea from Nadia. In her invitation she reassured you that he would not be around, and that all she wanted was to see her friend and check in. So, the next day you got in the carriage Nadia had sent and made your way to the palace.
The moment you entered you felt your hands start to shake, luckily Nadia had come to the foyer to greet you. She walked you out to where she had the tea set up, you noticed she had remembered to have your favorite cookie put out. You two sat comfortably on the veranda and talked, she told you of some new things she was planning for the city, you told her business was good at the shop.
“Y/N,” she sighed, setting her cup down. You already knew where this was going. “I need to talk to you about what happened between you and Lucio,”. Feeling uneasy you stand up, vertigo hitting you from doing so quickly.
“Nadia, I really can’t do this-” She cut you off with a simple touch of her hand on yours. She eased you back down into your seat.
“Y/N, Lucio hasn’t been the same since you left,” Nadia said, a worried look in her eyes.
“What do you mean,” You said timidly. Nadia’s look softened.
“Y/N, Lucio has turned into a shell of the man he once was, I don’t think you understand how much he loves you, how much joy you bring him,” Nadia placed her hand on your shoulder. “In the last few weeks he has refused to leave the palace and only takes his meals in his room, and he rarely plays with Mercedes and Melenchor,”. You gasp when she tells you this. You can believe that this was his reaction, Lucio has never been a shut in. It hit you all at once that you truly had done something stupid.
“Oh Nadia, I, oh Nadia I didn’t mean for any of this to happen,” You could feel the tears forming in your eyes.
“Oh Y/N, I know, and I’m sure Lucio will forgive you,” You suddenly stand at her words.
“Is he here?” You ask, already feeling breathless. Nadia nods, a smile on her face.
As you run down the hall to Lucio's room you start to think. All of these insecurities, all this worrying, did it ever really have anything to do with Lucio? Now that you are really thinking about it, you are starting to feel bad. You had no reason to take your insecurities out on Lucio, he didn’t deserve it. Maybe he did get carried away with partying sometimes, but, you should have just talked to him. Running away from your problems did nothing but hurt you and your relationship.
You skid to a stop as you come to his door. Tentatively, with shaking hands, you knock on the door. You hear him from the other side.
“I told you I do not wish to be bothered!” he yells, voice rough and horse. Still, you enter the room, only to see Lucio hidden under his bed covers, Mercedes and Melenchor curled next to him. “Nadia, if that is you please GET OUT!” He yells again, but you can tell he has been crying.
“Sorry,” you say softly, in an instant Mercedes and Melenchor pop their heads up and run up to you, jumping on you for kisses. At a much slower pace Lucio rouses from bed.
“You… it’s you,” Lucio stutters out. Slowly, Lucio got out of his bed, blanket still wrapped around him. He came to stand in front of you, look you directly in the eye. Then, he started to lean in, putting his hands on your arms and pulling you in, but before his lips could touch you, put your hands on his chest and pushed him back. If he didn’t look sad before he now looks like a kicked puppy.
“Luci.. I need to apologize to you, I have been a total jackass to you,” You swear Lucio looks more confused than everything. “I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did that night, I should have just told you how I was feeling, and, I’m sorry,” You let out a sigh and looked at the ground. You feel his fingers on your chin, tilting it up, he smiles at you. Again, he leans in for a kiss and you forget to stop him. It felt amazing, the feeling of his lips on yours. Your hands Automatically go to hold his cheeks, before you realize what is happening, pulling back from the kiss. “Lucio, you can’t just-” you start before being cut off.
“I missed you,” He says softly “I missed you so much,”.
“Lucio, you can’t just forgive me so quickly,” you huff.
“Yes I can, I missed you my love,” Your heart sored hearing him say that.
“I missed you too, but we need to talk about what happened Lucio,”
“We can talk later,” He says before he captures your lips again, the kiss is full of passion. You let him kiss you as you run your hands over his chest, Maybe you can talk about it later. Right now you need to make up for lost time.
