If Jusis had been asked how he'd ended up in a situation like this, he would have been faced with the dilemma of whether he was the luckiest man in the world or vice versa. Millium has always had this phenomenal quality of doing something completely insane and foolish while looking as charming as possible. Even if it took a while for Jusis to recognize that charm in her.
Right now, Jusis was praying to the Goddess that not a living soul would pass them in the corridor where Millium... you could say she had him pinned down.
Her slender leg was stretched out at his waist height, the other resting on the floor as she stood on tiptoe. And that... Oh, Goddess, it looked comical at the very least, but even more ridiculous. Especially with that goofy expression on her face, full of amusement mixed with guile.
“Millium,” he sighed, folding his arms across his chest and throwing a quick glance around to make sure no one was around. Thank the Goddess.
“Y-yeah?” She staggered only slightly. Her position looked awfully uncomfortable. Give her a little push and she'll flop to the floor.
“What are you doing?” He mentally prepared himself to catch her in case of a bad fall.
“Mm-hmm... I'm hitting on you!” She laughed so heartily that Jusis didn't even realize what she was saying right away.
“...What?”
“Well... Hit on! Pick up! Courtin'!” she started listing, curling her fingers. “I read in a magazine that you need to keep the tension in the relationship, so that they are not ruined by routine, and they keep the same old passion!”
“Millium, we've only been dating for two months.”
Millium blinked confusedly at this response, but didn't hesitate and put her hands to her sides.
“So what!? Passion can suddenly fade at any moment! We must always be on the alert- Ouch!”
Of course, by fooling around too much, she lost her balance. Before she could fall sideways, Jusis yanked forward, catching her in his arms. Millium's eyes, squeezed shut by the sudden near-fall, slowly opened, and she smiled warmly at him.
“Is that enough passion for now?”
Millium chuckled, settling more comfortably in his arms and wrapping her arms around his neck.
“One-to-one!”
“What?”
“Now you've caught me!”
... Right. After all, when he and Millium had confessed to each other, she had indeed saved him with Lammy's help from falling into the lake. It was even strange that she didn't call out to him now, since before that had always been her first instinct in any strange situations.
“I trust you,” she said suddenly, and looked into his eyes with an unimaginable, touching fondness. “I know you will always catch me. And I'll catch you in return.”
“... You're right.”
Maybe those silly magazines don't write such bad advice. But he'd better get Millium to their room before they're caught-
“Oh-oh, I-I apologize for the interruption, Lord Jusis, Lady Millium!”
Oh, hell.
