The Flesh Now Matches The Spirit

Chapter Text

Warm, even breaths puff across the underside of Agatha’s jaw, a slow, steady reminder of the body tangled up in her own. There’s an ache to her heart, one she’s not sure she’ll ever be able to get rid of - ‘cause the satisfaction that’ll come from being right (or even the shame of being wrong, if that’s how things turn out) will be nothing compared to the pain Wanda will feel at her ‘betrayal’.

‘Cause that’s all it’ll be, as far as Wanda’s concerned. Wanda won’t care for the fact that she’s doing all this to help her - she’ll only care that Agatha didn’t trust her enough to contain Cthon in the way she saw fit, regardless of whether or not that’s true.

She turns her head, gazes out of the bedroom window. The curtains thankfully stand open, allowing her to see out into the darkness of the night. The full moon lightens the sky a little, a sea of twinkling stars adorning the blackness beyond it. Wanda sleeps peacefully at her side, the lingering scents of sex and sweat filling the air around them as cool air draws their flesh into a sea of gooseflesh under its ever present touch.

“This is what I’m doing this for,” she whispers, more to herself than to anyone else, “it’ll all be worth it - eventually.”

It doesn’t feel like that, though, not when she can feel the heavy, oppressive weight of Cthon’s heart pressing down on the palm of her hand. It doesn’t matter that her physical form isn’t actually handling the organ - she can still feel the last of the blood oozing from its severed veins and arteries, running across her fingers with the same sort of acidic burn that someone might feel should they splash battery acid directly onto their skin.

She exhales, turns her face away from the window. The smell of Wanda fills her nostrils as she buries her face in brown hair, eyes screwed tight shut as she tells herself, “just one more night.”
