We Only Have Eachother

Summary:

Just Roman and Rhea being soft

Notes:

Okay I have a few things to say:
1. This is not Seth slander! I like Seth it's just that certain aspects of his character and gimmick are starting to get on my nerves.
2. I really like the pairing of Rhea/Roman and need to see them interact on screen. Like, right now.
3. I am currently working on a sequel fic to my Dom/Rhea bakery AU but it is getting out of hand! I'm not even half way through and I have already written 16K words. The original fic was only 5K!
4. I have been having this idea for a smutty Rhea/Roman fic (spoiler it's a stripper AU) but I have never written smut before so if someone else likes the idea please steal it or else I'm probably going to write the most awkward thing in existence.
5. This exists somewhere in the realm of kayfabe but I'm not entirely sure where so do with that what you will.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"Seth is really starting to piss me off,” Rhea complained as she walked into her bedroom.

"Yeah, he has been known to do that," a gravelly voice replied from the ensuite just as Rhea heard the sink start running, "what has he done this time?"

"He is just so irritating. His ridiculous hair and his odd fashion sense and his stupid little song. He just- urghhhh," Rhea tried to explain but she couldn't really give a reason for her dislike, it just was .

A pair of arms wrapped around her waist from behind and started caressing her sides. She felt a kiss dropped onto her head while the hands pulled her closer to the body behind her.

"Trust me… I understand," Roman grinned against her head, he squeezed her waist slightly before he continued, "we have… quite the history."

"Of course you do. Now I feel a little bad for complaining about him to you. I can hide all the chairs if you want me to," Rhea joked and Roman felt her relax into his arms once the joke was made.

"Ouch Rhea. I'm just tryna be a good fiancé and you bring up my trauma," Roman joked back. Rhea was the first person in a long time that Roman told the truth about the situation with Seth and she taught him to find the funny side in it all, to the point that he could joke comfortably about it if he felt safe, which he always did with Rhea.

"You are a good fiancé but that doesn't change the fact you have terrible character judgement."

"Well I'm marrying you, aren't I? What does that say about you?" Roman asked and he felt Rhea squirm a little in his arms so he loosened his grip. Rhea spun around in his arms and looked up at him.

"I'm an anomaly. A stroke of luck, some may say," Rhea grinned and leaned up to give Roman a kiss that both members kind of just melted into.

When they broke apart, Rhea was slightly out of breath and her hair was a little mused but her lipstick stayed pristine.

"Well, you are my favourite stroke of luck in that case," Roman flirted, and despite having dated for over 2 years at that point, Rhea still blushed while she buried her face into Roman's chest to hide it.

When she was composed enough, she rolled her eyes up at her boyfriend, "sure, Mr. Undisputed Universal Champion. I'm sure I'm your favourite."

Despite her words being joking, and the fact Roman had retired from in ring work before the two had even gotten together, Roman heard the undercurrent of mistrust in her voice. It wasn't a new occurrence but it was something that hadn't happened in a while.

"Of course you are. My life wasn't over when I lost my titles. It sucked, but I got over it and it gave me something to work towards again. You, on the other hand, I don't think I could survive losing you. You talk all the time about how lucky you are to be dating me and about how everyone wants me, which I'm still not entirely sure is true, but you don't realise that the same applies to you. Do you know how many people I have to bat away constantly just because they're jealous that I got you?” Roman explained sternly but still comforting. Roman saw the tears well up in Rhea’s eyes and wiped them away.

“Well shit,” Rhea laughed a little but it was very watery, “it wasn’t that deep before but now I kind of want to cry.”

Roman leaned down to kiss Rhea again.

“Well it’s important that you know what you mean to me.”

Rhea stared up at him with fierce determination and sincerity leaked from her voice when she answered with a strong, “I do know.”

Roman nodded and the pair went back to the light hearted playfulness that had been there moments before.

“Besides… you’re talking about my championships like you aren’t the youngest grand slam champion in WWE history or the longest reigning women’s champion,” Roman said while he glanced at Rhea’s old title belts that lined her side of the room, much like his own did to his side. He tightened his arms around Rhea and once again pulled her impossibly closer.

“Mmm, I can see it now. Rhea Ripley and Roman Reigns, the Hall Of Fame power couple. We might even give Beth and Edge a run for their money,” Rhea teased at Roman (though secretly she already knew that there were plans to induct him as part of the next class and couldn’t wait to break the news to him. She, however, was still an active competitor considering she was barely into her 30s so her HoF induction would have to wait.)

“A run for their money? Rhea we outshined them before we even started dating,” and Rhea took a moment to admire the fact her boyfriend always knew the right things to say. Rhea’s issues with Edge and Beth had been a lot less prominent in the years since the Judgement Day broke up, not long after the Bloodline broke up weirdly enough, but the problems were definitely still there so Roman’s dislike brought a smile to Rhea's face.

“Maybe… but we’ll have to wait and see,” Rhea grinned up at her fiancé, “in the meantime, you still need to welcome me home properly.”

“Oh?” Roman raised his eyebrow and a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.

“Yeah, I’m feeling kind of neglected here,” Rhea teased.

“Well, I guess we’ll have to remedy that. After all, what kind of fiancé would I be if I didn’t?” Roman said, as he led Rhea over to the massive bed in the middle of the room.

“A bad one,” Rhea replied and Roman nodded sagely to agree with her.

“We can’t allow that now can we…” Roman leaned down to kiss Rhea while she moved to lay on the bed. Roman followed her lips until they were both laid out on the bed.

“Absolutely not. So… do your worst.”

Roman’s grin turned devilish and Rhea knew she was in for a long night.

Notes:

Okay so I have been having this re occuring dream about how Rhea might leave TJD and turn face again. I think could make for a very good multichap fic, the only issues is I dont know if anyone will read it as the main couple in it would be Rhea/Buddy. I also don't really know if I can manage a multichap fic as I get bored quite easily when I write long things, so I don't want to start and then not complete it. I need your help on this one so... thoughts?
