Work Text:
Marinette and Felix stood on the balcony of Felix’s new bedroom.
Amelie, Emelie, Adrien, and Felix had all moved in to a new mansion.
It wasn’t super big, but had enough space for all of them.
The Agreste mansion was destroyed on the inside from the battle.
It was a mess in there.
There was no way they could live in there, it would takes tons of time to fix.
It was still going to be fixed one day, but it was technically a crime scene so it was a little tricky to figure out.
Either way, this whole event bonded Marinette and Felix even more.
Felix was the only person she could tell.
Well, besides Kagami. But still.
He already knew Gabriel was Hawkmoth, and when he heard what Adrien and the world was being told, he didn’t buy a second of it. But didn’t say anything, except to Marinette.
“Y’know, this whole thing has just got me thinking” Felix said.
Marinette turned her head and looked at him, confused.
“About what?”
“Well, for starters, my uncle sacrificed himself to bring my aunt back. And after everything that’s happened, I feel like my purpose has changed”
“How so?” Marinette asked.
“Originally, I did all this to keep sentimonsters safe and alive. But I wasn’t thinking of other people as much” he said.
Marinette sighed and looked back at the sky.
Silence filled the air before Marinette heard Felix break down in sobs.
“Felix, what’s wrong?” She asked.
“Gabriel did a lot of shitty things in his life, but I actually saw him as a father. My father sucked, as you know. Gabriel was the closest thing I had to a father” he said before drying his tears with his sleeve.
“Before my aunt died, he was actually a really friendly, kind person. To literally everyone. Him and my father hated each other, and whenever he saw my father being awful to me or my mother, he’d always say or do something about it. I looked up to him like he was my father, and he treated me like his son. Once my aunt died, he became cold and distant. So had I, but I’d occasionally reach out to him to see how he was doing” Felix said.
Marinette looked at him with sympathy.
Not only did Felix have to lie to Adrien as well, but he lost the person he saw as a father.
It made her sad to think about.
“When Gabriel was about to make his wish, he asked me not to tell Adrien about this, but instead remind him of all the times he tried to be a good father. That’s why I lied. But also because now that we can’t find the butterfly miraculous, he’d be at risk of being akumatized by whoever this new holder will be, if someone found the miraculous” Marinette said.
Felix looked at her in shock, and a little startled.
“Wait, you can’t find the butterfly miraculous?” Felix asked.
Marinette just shook her head.
Tears started to form in her eyes.
“I feel like a failure. I failed to get the butterfly miraculous back” she said.
“But you defeated monarch and got the other miraculouses back?!” He said.
“If you haven’t given him the other miraculouses I would’ve just walked away empty handed” Marinette said.
“Marinette, don’t worry. We’ll find it” Felix said.
“Really? You think so?” Marinette asked.
“I know so” Felix said, causing Marinette to start crying again, hugging him.
They hugged each other, crying in each other’s arms.
No matter what happened, they’d help each other.
“I tell you everything I know, if you do the same, okay? We work together” Marinette asked.
“We work together.”
