It starts as "Hey Hermione, can I talk to Draco alone for a bit? " Hermione says, "Sure, I'll be in the library. "
A bit is actually an hour
"Hey Hermione, can I talk to Harry alone for a bit?" "Sure, I'll be in the library." Hermione says.
A bit feels like more than an hour this time.
This gradually increases, "Hey Hermione, can I talk to Harry for a bit? " "Sure" "Hey Hermione, can I talk to Draco for a bit?" "Sure"
A bit is now over 5 hours and Hermione still waits at the library.
Hermione is sure that her boys are planning something for her upcoming birthday, and while she can read their minds to find out (it's a trait they share due to the triad bond) She won't do that for the following reasons:
1. A violation of privacy and trust and
2. She wants to be surprised
September 19, It's Hermione's birthday and once again, "Hey Hermione, can I talk to Harry for a bit? " "Ok, I'll be in the library."
Hermione is positive that Draco and Harry a putting the final touches on her surprise.
She waits in excitement
30 minutes have passed
The excitement starts to dwindle
1 hour has passed
The excitement is almost non existent, but these are her boys, they wouldn't forget her birthday... right?
Hermione has been in the library "studying" for 5 hours now
The excitement is gone.
It's almost curfew, Hermione hasn't seen her bo- Harry and Draco since they parted earlier in the morning
Hermione goes back to the Gryffindor common room devastated
' They forgot ' Hermione thinks holding back tears ' I can't believe they forgot my birthday... maybe I can believe it... they've been practically ignoring me for weeks now I'm soo stupid '
Hermione trudged up the stairs of the girls dorm. On her bed are a stack of gifts. None of which are from her bo- Draco and Harry.
' Fine I understand when I'm not wanted ' Tears pouring down her face, Hermione begins to block her mind off from Harry and Draco... completely. This is something that isn't meant to be done but, ' It wasn't much of a triad anyway, ' It went from Harry, Hermione, and Draco to just Harry and Draco.' Hermione thinks. 'Whatever, must be happier without me' That thought makes Hermione choke, because 'What if I'm the problem?' 'No, I can't think that, I've done nothing for them to feel that way. ' The bond is almost completely closed from her end, now all that's left to do, is ignore the. 'Which won't be hard ,' Hermione thinks, ' It's not like they payed me any attention. ' Hermione secretly hopes they notice...
They don't.
This goes on for months.. Draco and Harry don't notice that 1/3 of their bond is gone
Hermione wonders of they were ever meant to be a triad, or if they just latched onto her because she was there in a time of need.
The Yule Ball is announced, Hermione wants to go home.. before she can make that decision, Viktor Krum asks her to the ball.
She says yes.
Hermione expects them to notice her dancing with Krum, but they are too wrapped up in each other to notice. She decides she deserves a night of fun and puts them out of her mind.
~
The second task has passed, Draco was who Harry would sorely miss and Viktor saved one of his friends.
~
It's now April 2nd, and the vanishing of Hermione has been noticed.
The Weasley Twins find Hermione in corner of the library.
" Hey Mione, where have you been? " asks Fred "Yeah, we haven't seen or heard you in a while. " says George. " Shouldn't - You - be - with - your - boyfriends? " the twins say together.
"I don't have boyfriends. " Hermione responded. Fred and George inquire as to when they broke up and if they could even do that being "bonded" and all.
Hermione sighs, "We haven't spoken since the start of the term. They wanted to spend time with each other without me a that's fine. -"
"Then what's the problem?" Fred interrupts. "It became more frequent, like they didn't want me around. I thought they were planning something for my birthday and they weren't. I waited... until curfew. They forgot and I got the picture, they don't want me.. so I closed off my end of the bond. " Hermione explains.
"Shouldn't that hurt? " George asks. "Maybe." Hermione replies, "But it hurt more to be ignored. Besides, it's not like they even noticed. "
"Hermione... how long has it been since you closed the bond? " Fred gently demands
" 7 months. "
