"Will, are you sure you want your friends to meet me?"
Will Solace and Nico di Angelo were visiting Will's mom in Texas for the holidays. However, with Texas came family and friends. And with those, came introductions. Nico was not too fond of introductions, especially introductions of the south with their "bless your hearts" and-slash-or their cheek-squeezing. Nico couldn't even imagine what it would be like with teenage boys rather than middle-aged women. This led to a conversation on Will's mattress.
"Of course!" Nico di Angelo's boyfriend chirped cheerily.
"But I'm like..." Nico picked at his nail polish, "like..."
Will raised an eyebrow. "Oh, come on. I want to show off my boyfriend!" Will nudged Nico with his elbow.
Nico made no effort to retaliate. Instead, he said, "speaking of which, do they even know you're dating a boy?"
Will shrugged.
Nico glared at him. "What does that mean?"
Will shrugged again, avoiding Nico's glare of death (literally). "They're fine. They're not homophobic. If they are, I'll cut 'em off."
Nico sighed. "You don't need to do that just because-"
"No," Will interjected. "If they think like that, that's not a person I want to be around. It's got nothing to do with just you."
Nico stayed silent and looked away from Will. The blonde gently took his hand. "Nico. Everything will be alright. Can you please meet my friends?"
Nico caught Will's eyes and he knew he was done for. There was nothing he could do to fight him.
"...I guess so."
Later that day, Nico found himself in front of Will's friends.
"Hey James! Lucas! This is Nico!"
The two boys around Will's age stopped in their tracks as he stepped aside to reveal the shorter teen.
"...'sup," Nico nodded.
"Uh... hey," said one of the guys. He must have been James. He glanced over at Will, then back at the Italian boy. Nico glanced up at his boyfriend too, for good measure. He looked slightly jealous.
Will cleared his throat and spoke once more. "He's my boyfriend."
Lucas still looked Nico up and down. "Cool, man. Hey, why the hell are your shoes so tall?"
Nico looked up at Will again. Will met his eyes and shrugged.
"Uh... They're platform boots," he said.
"Why are you dressed in all black?" Asked James.
"I dunno, I just like it I guess."
"Why is your nail polish chipped?"
"Uh..."
"You sorta look like the Grim Reaper."
"Hold on," Nico waved his hands in front of him. "All you care about is why I'm goth?"
"The hell is goth?" One of the guys said, though both looked equally confused.
Nico stared at them. "So you don't care that I'm... dating Will."
"No. Why is there a chain on your pants?"
Nico dragged a hand over his face. "Will," he said, "your friends are insufferable." But then he smiled. "They seem nice."
Will grinned as well. "Hey, do two you want to join Nico and I? We were gonna go get McDonalds after this. You can question his fashion choices all you want."
"Sure, dude!" Said one, while the other kept inquiring. "Why is your eyeshadow under your eyes instead of over it?"
"...how about I tell you over fries?"
