Chapter Text
• The next day, Momo attends a meeting with Todoroki regarding the LOV — she is expected to use her extensive raid experience to lay out a plan to catch the League as they transport something. Endeavor continues to talk down to her. | • Aizawa interrogates Yuto, and realizes he has to keep Yuto alive, to take to Italy to get his stolen car back. |
• Momo is exhausted by the time she gets home, having been awake for two days. Aizawa, who has come to see her every night, is waiting for her in her apartment — and has made dinner for her. Stressed as shit, however, she tells him about how Todoroki’s father acts toward her, and Aizawa bluntly tells her that she will never be good enough for Endeavor — who still believes in procreating for quirk compatibility, and obviously doesn’t believe Momo and Todoroki’s quirks are complementary. Momo turns it around and says Aizawa is only trying to drive a wedge so that she will join his syndicate, so he will have her quirk available to him. Aizawa leaves, hurt. |
• Same scene, Aizawa POV. He plans to tell her about his plans of going to Italy, but forgets because of their argument |
• | • Aizawa is leaving Momo’s apartment and finds Agent Ksana waiting for him. Aizawa tells her he doesn’t know anything new, but she doesn’t believe him and threatens to pursue Momo — especially now that Agent Ksana has learned Momo was his student. Agent Ksana gets too close when she states her suspicions about Momo aiding in his escape years ago — but, although Aizawa brushes off her suspicions, he tells her about Saito being at Xanadu to get her off his back. |
• | • Aizawa leaves his meeting with Agent Ksana, and goes to retrieve Yuto. They drive to southern Japan, then take a boat that night to Taiwan. From there they take a private plan to Milan, Italy. Once in Italy, Aizawa uses Yuto to track down his other car — then kills and dismembers Yuto. |
• | • Aizawa returns to Japan (Kyoto), jet-lagged and sleep-deprived, where Agent Ksana and some of her agents intercept him. They detain him and Agent Ksana threatens to take him to Russia now if he thinks he can play fast and loose while under their thumb. Aizawa keeps a tough facade until Momo calls; Agent Ksana answers his phone and puts it on speaker, forcing him to talk to her. Aizawa recognizes Momo could be a danger to herself and begins to panic at Agent Ksana refuses to release him. Agent Ksana tells him they have footage of Momo entering the restaurant at the same time as Saito, and know she’s essentially a dirty cop. Agent Ksana tells him, in no uncertain way, that if he goes off-the-reservation again then they will go after Momo to build their case against Saito — and they will expose everything they find. Aizawa says he will cooperate, but he wants immunity for himself and for Momo. Agent Ksana makes a final demand: she wants the key to Momo’s apartment. He reluctantly gives her it to make a copy of. |
• Three days have passed and Momo has not heard from Aizawa. She is an anxious mess in his absence, afraid he will not come back. Dropshot comes to Momo’s apartment early in the morning with an assignment: to inspect the city hospitals to make security improvements. Momo was supposed to meet with Saito that afternoon, and asks him to meet with her earlier. He arrives at her apartment and immediately notices she looks unwell. Momo confesses everything that has happened, and Saito nearly kisses her before Dropshot calls and interrupts. | • |
• Momo is in an even worse mental state after the close call with Saito. She arrives at the hospital and her PTSD is triggered by having to ride down an elevator. She then accidentally walks in on an autopsy in progress. By the time she is done, she is a complete mental wreck — she caves and calls Aizawa, telling him she needs him. He responds that he is busy, but will see what he can do. | • |
• Momo has a complete breakdown when she finally gets home, and hours later Aizawa arrives. Momo tells him everything that happened and apologies for driving him away. Aizawa is shocked; he had been in Milan, Italy, handling the discrepancy Momo discovered at the club, and hadn’t realized Momo thought he had abandoned her. Momo finally asks if Aizawa was okay after the Kamino Ward incident, and he admits he wasn’t. Momo asks Aizawa to stay with her while she sleeps. | • Same scene. Aizawa’s POV. He’s devastated as he realizes he has inadvertently done this to her. |
• | • Aizawa goes to get peach blossoms tattooed as a sign of his resolve not to fail or hurt Momo again. On his way back from the tattoo shop, Aizawa stops at a stall to get cigarettes when Saito — who is on a jog — sees him and stops. Saito asks Aizawa to reconsider connecting him with Giran offers more money to do so, but Aizawa still refuses. Saito then asks Aizawa why he turned Momo down. Aizawa answers she wasn’t his type, but Saito asks what changed because she seems to be his type now. Aizawa tells him to eat a dick. |
• | • Momo and Aizawa returning to her apartment after training. She notices something out of place but Aizawa, realizing it was likely Agent Ksana, lies and says it was him that moved it. Momo jokes, “There’s just something about a Yakuza oyabun who still has to pay for Netflix” — she tells him how she took the subway that day five years ago, to warn him about the arrest warrant. He suffers the guilt of the many way he’s failing her. |
• | • Agent Ksana tells Aizawa she wants to meet face-to-face. The night Momo cancels, he tells Agent Ksana he can meet and they go to the French restaurant. But, guilt-ridden, he decides he should come clean with Momo instead and reaches out to see if she’s still busy — intending to bring her to meet Agent Ksana. She doesn’t answer and he goes to meet Agent Ksana alone. |
• Momo is cleared from profile and returns to work, but is severely disillusioned from Hero work. She continues to train with Aizawa every night, with him getting more comfortable being in her home. She and Todoroki, however, try to repair things. He takes her out to dinner ahead of the raid she helped mastermind — and Momo is horrified to see Aizawa at the restaurant with a date of his own. Todoroki proposes in front of the restaurant and Momo feels pressured to say yes. Aizawa storms out, abandoning his date. | • At the restaurant, Aizawa concedes to tell Agent Ksana that he knows Saito is actively trying to lure Momo away from Hero life, but doesn’t know what she does for him. He asks if they searched her apartment; she admits they did, but found nothing. He sees Momo and Todoroki, souring his mood completely. Then Agent Ksana tries to pressure him into meeting with Saito and wearing a wire. He is already fed up and pissed at Agent Ksana’s demands when Todoroki proposes to Momo. Aizawa tells Agent Ksana to go fuck herself, and storms out. |
• Momo returns to her apartment and Aizawa shows up, inebriated, and tells Momo not to marry Todoroki. They get in each other’s faces arguing, when Todoroki arrives. Aizawa ducks to hide in Momo’s room. Todoroki is in a rage because the raid failed and there were multiple civilian casualties, and he takes it out by talking down to and demeaning Momo, who endures his anger in order to gives Aizawa the opportunity to sneak out undetected. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV. He’s pissed and intoxicated; while drinking he’d made up his mind to ask Momo to leave Todoroki, and go on the lam with him, and that’s what he’s there to do. When he is in Momo’s room he gets even more pissed listening to Todoroki, and gets his gun out before deciding Momo would never forgive him. Conflicted because this is the second time he’s let the man live, he leaves instead. |
• The following morning Momo makes a discovery while reviewing the data for the raid, and immediately calls Todoroki — who swiftly dismisses her, so she calls Aizawa instead. | • Aizawa returns home and and continues drinking. He’s not surprised when Agent Ksana lets herself in. She mocks his disheveled apartment. Shit faced, he tells her about how Todoroki’s mother used to be before marrying Endeavor, and his fears of the same happening to Momo. Agent Ksana preys on that fear; she promises to get Saito Ren out of the picture, and offers Aizawa and Momo not just immunity — but clean slates with Russian citizenship. Aizawa questions about what exactly Saito did, which Agent Ksana says she can’t tell him before leaving. He’s finally begun to sober up, cleaning up his apartment and considering if he should get rid of the visor Momo made — and can’t bring himself to do it. He leaves it on his dresser instead. Momo calls. |
• When Aizawa arrives he apologies for not intervening during Todoroki’s rage and promises he will not let that happen again, although Momo defends her fiancé. Todoroki calls then, furious, and berates Momo for not returning her files on the LOV yet. Aizawa escorts Momo from the apartment so she won’t be there when Todoroki arrives. She tells him Aizawa what she discovered: the real location of an LOV hideout, based on coordinates from the failed raid the night before. Aizawa and Momo decide to go investigate the hideout themselves. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV. |
• Momo and Aizawa arrive at the suspected hideout location and confirm there are members of the LOV inside, including Maker. Momo creates duplicates of Aizawa’s old Hero support gear for him to use; goggles, and capture tape. They breech the perimeter and Aizawa kills the LOV members after he and Momo subdue them together before setting the building on fire. Momo admits to Aizawa that she is illegally making support gear for Saito Ren. She is also debating between Saito and Aizawa’s operations — but doesn’t want to leave Todoroki, either. Aizawa says Momo doesn’t deserve how Todoroki treats her. The two end up kissing, which quickly escalates into him fingering her. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV. His thoughts about knowing Momo is committing a serious felony making support fear for Saito; he weighs if this would help her hurt them with regard to Agent Ksana. |
• Aizawa and Momo are in his car, and she begins to have guilt and second thoughts about furthering things with Aizawa when Todoroki calls Momo’s phone. He is on-site at the burned hideout. He apologizes for having dismissed Momo’s suspicions and asks if the investigators are going to find anything inside. Momo confesses to him there are bodies inside, and Todoroki promises to try to cover her involvement. | • Aizawa is getting his nerve back to tell Momo about Agent Ksana when she has her panic attack, and he blames himself — feels like he should’ve known better, overlooked her emotional state. He’s horrified when Momo confesses to the murders for him, but he doesn’t know what to do without making it worse for her. |
• Momo and Todoroki sit down to discuss the hideout incident. She gives him all the details, but does not mention Aizawa was with her — although she is guilt-ridden about having been physical with him. Todoroki begins to backtrack on his promise to cover for her, but Momo forces him to stick to it. Todoroki, however, wants her total commitment to his future plans in return: to meet her family, marry, and start a family of their own. Momo agrees. | • |
• Momo calls out to work the next morning to cope with everything that happened the night before, and runs into Saito — who is beating the shit out of a man. Saito acts like it’s nothing, however, and flirts with her as usual then apologizes that she’s gotten engaged. He convinces her, however, to not have Todoroki meet her parents that night. | • Aizawa spends the day overseeing the shaken process, dwelling on what happened between he and Momo. He feels guilty that she felt she needed to lie and confess to the murders, and he isn’t convinced Todoroki will cover for Momo; moment of him realizing he and Momo are more ride and die for each other than she and Todoroki. He worries if Momo would hurt herself/commit suicide if Todoroki did turn her in. When Momo says she’s not going to dinner, he calls and asks Kobayashi to oversee the rest of the shaken process. He pumps himself up, yet again, to come clean to Momo about everything. |
• Momo goes into work and plans to work late, to use as an excuse for Todoroki not to meet her family. She also lets Aizawa know she will be working — but Aizawa sneaks into the Hero agency with coffee for her. She initiates for them to discuss what happened between them the previous night, but she cuts him off and says his behavior confuses her. Before they can finish the discussion, DETECTIVE TSUKAUCHI from the LOV task force arrives; Aizawa hides out in the file room. Detective Tsukauchi delivers the devastating news that the LOV attacked her family estate, and her parents did not survive. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV. He on the verge of telling her about how he feels, and Agent Ksana’s and her offer to give them a fresh start — together — in Russia. But then he interprets her statements as her not being romantically invested in him (sexual chemistry vs romantic interest). He’s deeply hurt, but resolves to do all he can to protect Momo from Agent Ksana’s investigation. Whether the romantic interest is mutual or not. |
• Aizawa takes Momo to his apartment. She gets drunk, blaming herself for having not been at the house before realizing her family had likely been targeted by the LOV because Todoroki was expected to be there. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV. He turns off the police scanner when they arrive at his apartment. |
• | • Aizawa preps to leave when he wakes up. He makes a point of giving her his clothes because he is afraid of her overextending herself via her quirk. Aizawa goes to meet with Agent Ksana. She says she’d offer her condolences, but she has a feeling Momo doesn’t know what Aizawa has been doing. He asks if she knows why the League went after Momo’s family, but she doesn’t. When he leaves, he calls Momo to make sure she’s okay at his apartment — then calls Kobayashi and asks him to go to the morgue with Momo when it’s time. Kobayashi thanks him for needing him, because it saved his life. |
• Momo wakes up and begins drinking again, and finds a stash of science books. She quizzes him, stunned to learn he has actually been studying the books for her — and considers for the first time that Aizawa may have genuine feelings for her. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• Momo goes to the morgue with Todoroki and Kobayashi to identify the remains of her parents and their staff. She and Todoroki argue, and she tells him he is always trying to change her to be someone else — and to control her, the same way Todoroki’s father did his mother. Momo breaks up with him. | • Aizawa goes to meet with Agent Ksana again, who says she’s gotten clearance to give him some information on Saito Ren — including that they have information outlining Saito may have engineered the LOV’s murder of Momo’s parents. He reads about Saito’s quirk. |
• Aizawa evaluates and tends to Momo’s injuries. She is confused and frightened, and Aizawa tells her he’d learned what Saito’s quirk is: called Override, allowing him to influence people’s decisions through physical contact with his target. Momo refuses to go to the police and instead goes to shower, where she gives serious consideration to committing suicide. Aizawa comes to check on her, though, and intervenes. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• Aizawa approaches the topic of how they should tell Todoroki, and Momo realizes she never told Aizawa she called off the engagement. Aizawa stays with her, and finally tells her how he ended up living as a villain — through the systematic failure of Heroes handling the death of his best friend when they had been students at UA. He vows to kill Saito Ren. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV. He literally hates himself for not having asked how it went with Todoroki at the morgue, because it would’ve changed everything. He laments and imagines what would’ve happened that night if he had known. |
• | • Aizawa goes to get the security footage, but it is missing. |
• In the morning Aizawa packs Momo a bag and takes her to stay with him until further notice, as he fears she won’t be safe at her own. She experiences fresh PTSD following the assault, but stays in the safety of Aizawa’s apartment for several weeks. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• | • Aizawa tells Agent Ksana he wants to see her. Once face to face, she asks him if something happened. They get into a heated argument about Saito which culminates in Aizawa shouting at her that Saito raped Momo, and that if she wants Saito to face charges then she better find him before he does. She warns him if he does anything, their deal is off. |
• Aizawa takes Momo to a pachinko casino, revealing that her father had a line of credit there which has been extended to her. The casino has also named conference rooms in honor of her parents. Aizawa has gathered all of Asao’s Yakuza acquaintances from various syndicates to come together in his memory, and they all welcome Momo with open arms. | • Same Scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• After an evening of gambling and hearing stories about her parents, Momo and Aizawa return to a hotel. Aizawa playfully flirts with her, and Momo initiates them being physical — but their intimacy is interrupted when Momo suffers a panic attack in the aftermath of Saito’s assault. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• The funeral of Momo’s parents is held, and Todoroki attends. He approaches her after and asks her to consider giving him another chance, inviting her to join his family for Christmas. Aizawa is waiting in the car for her, and is concerned she will go back to Todoroki. Momo has another panic attack, however, when she finds a note from Saito among the cards from the funeral flowers. Distraught, Momo unleashes her angst on Aizawa, saying that he treats her attraction toward him flippantly, and leaves. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• | • Aizawa is abducted. Saito and a couple goons arrive at the apartment to kidnap him, but he fights back (include fighting in Aizawa’s home gym). After Aizawa wears himself out disabling all Saito’s goons, Saito concedes to fight him himself — and manages to subdue Aizawa. He take him to the dam. |
• Momo takes refuge in an apartment her parents had kept. She is pressured into attending the Hero Billboard Chart Christmas party by Majestic, because a dedication was going to be made to her parents. Momo encounters Todoroki there, who seems optimistic for them to repair things, but then she receives a voicemail from Aizawa confessing he wants her to choose him. Momo immediately goes to Aizawa’s apartment, but finds it in a state of disarray with Aizawa nowhere to be found — then she gets a phone call from Saito, who has kidnapped Aizawa. Saito sends her their location to come meet. | • Saito uses his quirk to force Aizawa to tell him intimate details about Momo and their relationship ‣ Saito has learned now the connection between Aizawa and Momo wasn’t her father, but rather that Aizawa was her teacher at UA, and that has been the “missing piece” all along (because Momo wouldn’t betray Todoroki with him, but had apparently tried to hook up with Aizawa while with Todoroki which hadn’t made sense) ‣ Saito tells him he knows Momo is Aizawa’s type now because she’s an adult, and shocks him when Aizawa realizes Saito never had sex with Momo when she was younger ‣ But Saito taunts Aizawa that whenever Aizawa has been absent or let her down, she always comes to him instead ‣ Aizawa spends the whole time hoping Saito doesn’t get the idea to ask anything that will bring up the Russian agents ‣ He’s forced to watch the security video and to record the voicemail |
• Momo stashes her car then goes to the location provided: a hydroelectric dam facility. Saito reveals he has the elevator footage from his assault on Momo, and has shown it to Aizawa. She admits that she knows Saito had used his quirk to coerce Aizawa into leaving her that voicemail, but decided to come anyway. When Saito refuses to release Aizawa, she threatens to commit suicide with the gun she brought, knowing ultimately Saito wants her quirk and thus needs her alive. Aizawa tries to subdue Saito when Saito unties him, and Momo manages to injure him before Saito makes a run for it, with police arriving at the dam. Momo and Aizawa make a dramatic escape out a maintenance door and leap into the river below. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• Momo and Aizawa survive the frigid river and take shelter at an abandoned shrine nearby. Aizawa confronts Momo about how she feels about him, and that he wants to be with her, too. The pair have sex. When dawn arrives, Momo and Aizawa go to find her car and return to the city. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• They find a new “apartment” (an abandoned industrial building) to lay low in, and Aizawa continues to train Momo. They are sparring at the docks when they are approached by RE-DESTRO, the leader of the META LIBERATION ARMY, who attempts to recruit them. Aizawa and Momo refuse, and fight their way out of the situation, with Re-Destro leaving the offer available to them in case they change their minds. Momo and Aizawa return to their apartment, and discover Saito hog-tied and gagged inside, with all the flash drives contain the video of him and Momo. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV. He considers, briefly, whether he should turn Saito over to Agent Ksana, but ultimately decides to kill Saito anyway, even if it is, to give Momo the closure he thinks she deserves. He makes arrangements with Kobayashi for him to get Momo out of the country if he’s “ever arrested again” |
• Saito initially refuses to confess who captured him, but Momo and Aizawa prepared to get rid of him regardless. They drive him to the forest where they dig a grave. Aizawa breaks Saito’s legs with a shovel and throws him in the grave, and they begin to bury him alive. Desperate for a quick death, Saito offers to tell them who captured him. He offers the name (not revealed to the audience, however) and Momo and Aizawa do not believe him. They finish burying him while he screams. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV. Paranoia of being followed or monitored as they drive. Reassurance though because Kobayashi provided the car. |
• They stop outside the city to sleep in the car and discuss whether Saito was lying, if they need to relocate to another place again, and whether Momo’s been compromised where she cannot return to her life as a Hero. She ultimately decides she is ready to be with Aizawa no matter what, and only wants to conclude her report on the hospital security assessment before going off the radar. While parked off the road, they see a convoy of vehicles take the route leading to Deika City. | • |
• Several weeks later, a report comes in claiming there was a villain attack in Deika City, and that the citizens used their quirks to defeat them. Aizawa suspects it is a political setup by the Meta Liberation Army, however. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• Momo returns to the hospital to turn in her report, where she meets with DR. Ujiko. As she leaves, however, she impossibly encounters him again. Momo follows him, and inadvertently discovers that the hospital is actually harboring a new NOMU engineering laboratory. | • Aizawa, armed, goes to meet with Agent Ksana. She tells him their other informants have lost track of Saito (inadvertently admitting she’s had a general idea of his whereabouts after he raped Momo), and she plainly tells Aizawa she will have to turn him — and Momo — in to the Japanese government. Aizawa kills her, and then the other agents in the building. |
• Momo works through a panic attack in order to investigate, and she finds Shigaraki Tomura in a tank, where he is being transferred all of All For One’s quirks. Momo escapes the lab through a vent, and immediately calls Detective Tsukauchi. | • |
• Momo meets with the detective, where he asks if she will consider participating in the two-front operation against the new Paranormal Liberation Army — the merged Meta Liberation Army and League of Villains. | • |
• Momo tells Aizawa about the Heroes plans to make their move against the PLA, and that she wants to participate on one of the fronts. Aizawa says he will back up the Heroes on the second, to her surprise. They have sex — in the dark, for the first time — ahead of the operation against the PLA. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV. Before he leaves in the morning, he calls Kobayashi and tells him he’s been a good friend. |
• Momo goes to the forest front of the upcoming battle, where many of her old UA classmates are waiting for action. A report comes in front the operation at the hospital that Aizawa is on-site, shocking everyone. Momo’s squad is confronted by Gigantomachia, an All For One devotee. The fight goes south, with several Heroes dying, before Momo is able to create canisters of sedative that they use to bring him down. On the radio Momo hears the report that Aizawa has been hit with a deleter round and is performing a field amputation to save his quirk so he can keep fighting, as the order comes in for non-combat Heroes at the forest to fall back. | • Aizawa’s POV from the hospital battle |
• Momo returns to Majestic’s agency, where she reviews the incoming police scanner communications to see where Aizawa has been taken for treatment. While she does this, new reports come in that none other than All Might — who Saito claimed had captured him — is now attacking the city. | • Aizawa wakes up in the hospital, unsure if he ultimately did the right thing. He wonders if Momo will still be with him while he’s in jail. |
• Momo goes to the medical facility, using her Hero credentials to gain access to Aizawa under the guise of transporting him to prison. She gets him a wheelchair and they are escaping down the hospital stairs when they are intercepted by Todoroki. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• Todoroki reveals he found Aizawa’s capture tape in the remains of the burned hideout, and began his own investigation of Momo then. He has pieced together how long Aizawa and Momo have been in contact, and that she had been a conspirator in his escape from prison years ago. Todoroki then reveals — to even Aizawa’s surprise — that Momo has been using her position at Majestic’s agency to bury cases against Aizawa’s syndicate for years. Momo and Todoroki face off, but he is exhausted and injured from the offensive at the hospital, giving Momo an edge. She discretely tosses Aizawa a sedative, which he then injects Todoroki with. Momo and Aizawa make their escape. | • Same scene, Aizawa’s POV |
• The story concludes with Momo having taken her place in the ranks of Aizawa’s syndicate, and has begun getting her own tattoos. | • Aizawa is in public when he’s approached by Garald Volkov — another Russian agent. Aizawa advises they pick and choose their battles — because he will stop anyone who threatens him, or his wife. |
