Dawn of the Petals

Summary:

The Strawhat had been called to a discovery mission. It has been a known death trap to the point where the government has given up, but it would surely be worth the bounty. The Hana Hana they had called it, orPlanet GX-8602. It was shelled by flower petals, seemingly harmless no one has made it out alive...

Work Text:

The Unknown.
Space has always been the unknown.
They have started exploring. Exploration for a few thousand years and yet so many places in space were still unknown.

The planet GX-8602, or so called Hana Hana Planet, was one of the many mysteries of the universe, it was a gorgeous Planet to look at. It wasn't the biggest they have ever explored nor the smallest, but definitely the most intriguing.
After around two-hundred teams have tried to enter the planet's Orbit all have failed and have been crushed in the process.

And that is the reason why he is here.

As some sort of last effort he and his Exploration Team had been called to the scene as the government had officially given up on getting onto that yet unknown ground.
“How many minutes before we go into the danger zone?” he asked to be prepared for death.
The Pilote looked at his maný radars and buttons and scales “3 Minutes plus minus 10 seconds” the blue man said back to him.

The only window they had has been covered in pink petals covering most of it. A few of the funny glowing screens had been shut off since the petals have triggered them too often.
Everyone on board was ready for impact.
Entering the orbit was one thing, surviving the impact would be a worry for another time.
As the guard, he didn't have a position to be on, he would be where the Captain was. Right now they are trying to figure out what the hell they have gotten themselves into.
“And we are sure that I cannot eat the petals? They do look yummy!” Luffy had asked.
“Yes! They are highly poisonous” the doc chirped up.
As a sulking Captain finally moved back to his seat he took his stance at the door.
While the ship inched closer and closer into the unknown.

It seemed as if the petals had formed a storm, a tornado around them as they finally entered the atmosphere, the autopilot had been shut off for a while as Jimbe, the blue alien man, his steady hands have been useful a few times already. Nobody was sure if the bounty was big enough to cover the terror they were all in. Find a way to land, it had read, scientists will offer enough gold to never have any money problems ever.
The journey was dragging on for a while, unsure if they had entered the danger zone yet, maybe even discovering the debris of the destroyed ships. Or the dead bodies.

“Anything that is not pink yet?” their Captain asked almost jumping in his seat wondering yet again when he could dive out, head first out of their ship, just another expedition for him. He would have to dive after him though, which would be a bother truly.

Suddenly the ship came to a halt.

Right after the lights went out and their electronics basically exploded. Expected…
His muscle memory stepped in and his arm transformed into his usual weapon. His trusted sword, if anything would enter it would have to get through him.
And surely it tried.

A vine had wrapped around his ankle and dragged him away from where he was just a blink of an eye ago. He could hear the screams of the other crewmates, it had them too. He tried multiple times to cut the vine off of him, it always regrew and grabbed him again. He barely managed to run two steps before the vines were on him again.
He was wondering where it would drag him might as well go along for the ride.

He was getting dragged through the ship as he reached the exit doors, and he was swiftly thrown out into the pink petal sea. His uniform transformed into its outer-space mode, as he got dragged down to the planet's surface.

His back hit the ground, noticing as everything around him was also covered in petals. Checking his surroundings he noticed that he was all alone. From the ground he could see the shell that formed the petal sky. There was no light coming from the outside, yet it was rather bright out.
To confirm his theory he picked one petal up and held it close in his palms and yes, they emitted light. A soft warm light was shining in his palms.

As he noticed the green vines from where he had picked up the ground. The vine that he had cut off of himself was connecting to the ground, it was pulsing, it was alive. Was he going to follow it and hope that he would find the rest of the crew? Yes, as stupid as it sounds.

He was that stupid, but what else is there to do when you get stranded on a glowing plant planet, but follow the green vines.
There was a chance that he would never make it back and this was just a slow death incoming. There was a chance that they had been declared dead once the petal had touched them. There was no direct way out, he would get himself into more trouble.
Zoro followed the green glowing vines into the unknown.

His cybernetic arm had been damaged and wasn't able to transform into his hand form, he would continue to walk along that vine. Has it been an hour? Has it been a day? Has it been just three minutes?
It seemed that time was not moving as the petals in the sky would never fall, even the one he picked up was still floating, yet gravity worked on him? Had that been the vines doing?
The forces surely were interesting, he had not a single clue what was happening or science. Zoro was a muscle, not a brain person.

Yet he walked and walked, without seeing a single soul. Not even another animal. All huge red flags in an environment.

He was getting more and more tired by the minute.
Until he finally saw it.

It was huge and pink. A flower bud maybe?

Not a single piece of electronics was working again. As one of the petals opened up, there was a body in it. What seems like a female body. She was tall, very tall, her eyes were closed but she was breathing. The vines were all connecting to her or was it the bud? Zoro walked over to her, the unresponsive body was peaceful.
The closer he got the more he could tell that the vines were growing into her, she was barely covered by a purple sheet that looked like one of the petals from the bud.

His hand was reaching towards her, as the vines reappeared on his body as he got dragged into the bud. He fought it, he tried. It was too strong. After every cut vein two new ones held onto him. So many and only one cybernetic arm that wasn't fast enough.

As he got dragged into the flower when her fingers started to cradle his skin, As giant blue galaxy orbs stared at him. Tiredness waved over him, as he gave up to fight the vines anymore. It was over. It was definitely over.

As he closed his eyes accepting that fate had won again. The bud has produced one new petal that floated from the bud to the sky

The density of the petal field has increased and only a few more until the resurrection would finally return her to the world, as people say…

God is a woman
