Work Text:
Lance knew that Mick and Seb were close thanks to Seb being friends with Michael. He knew that Seb had known Mick since he was a kid and they had a strong bond. There was no way that Seb would ever date Mick. Mick had a girlfriend and Seb had told Lance previously that they were just good friends. That didn't stop Lance from having his doubts. He kept them hidden whenever he spotted Seb hanging out with Mick. He couldn't help it but he was starting to feel jealous. As much as he trusted both Seb and Mick, he couldn't stop the doubt entering his head that they were hiding something from him.
The Canadian thought he could ignore the jealousy but it kept growing and growing. Anytime he spotted Mick and Seb together, he couldn't look at them.
It reached a point where Lance couldn't stop from snapping at Seb when the German was talking about Mick whilst they were in Seb's house in Switzerland. Lance had hoped that since it was the start of summer break that he wouldn't have to think about Mick. Seb clearly had a different opinion so he was talking to Lance about Mick. That was until Lance got fed up.
"Can you talk about someone other than Mick for once in your life?"
Seb stared at Lance for a moment. He opened his mouth to speak then closed it. Lance ran a hand through his hair as he sighed in frustration.
"What are you talking about?" Asked Seb, quietly.
Lance huffed.
"It's the summer break and you're talking about Mick. You've been talking about him for the past fifteen minutes. You always end up talking about Mick at any given opportunity."
"Do you have a problem with Mick?" Asked Seb.
"Is it just so much to ask that you don't talk about Mick non stop when I'm trying to share my summer break with you?"
"It's only the start of summer break and we have plenty of time to be together. I was only mentioning Mick because he messaged me and said we should join him for a bike ride at some point."
"Am I included in the invitation?" Asked Lance.
Seb frowned.
"Yes."
"For once."
"What the hell does that mean?"
"You never invite me to anything that you do together. Whenever you go out and play padel, it's just the two of you." Replied Lance.
"I have invited you to play padel with us but you say no half the time so I stopped asking." Said Seb.
The German sighed.
"Lance, what is the problem?"
"I'm jealous, there, I said it. Are you happy now?"
Seb stood up and crossed his arms over his chest.
"No, why are you jealous?" He asked.
"You spend so much time with him I can't help but feel jealous. The two of you are close and I know that you're close friends but I can't help it."
"How long have you felt like this? How long have you been feeling jealous for?"
Lance shrugged.
"A little while."
"Why haven't you come and told me this before?" Asked Seb.
"I was worried how you would react."
"I don't know why, it's not like you're telling me to stay away from Mick."
Lance fell silent and Seb felt uneasy.
"I hope that you're not going to tell me that I have to stay away from Mick." Said Seb.
Lance shrugged again and Seb wasn't happy.
"Do you trust me?" Asked Seb.
"Of course I do, I just can't help the growing feeling inside that you're both hiding something from me."
"That's your problem, not mine."
"I can't help it."
"I know but if you're trying to ask me to stay away from Mick then I can't do that."
"I know." Replied Lance, quietly.
Seb stared at the floor for a moment. He cleared his throat after a while.
"I need a minute to think." Said Seb.
Without saying another word, Seb walked out of the room leaving Lance on his own. The Canadian had a bad feeling that he had potentially ruined the trust that had existed between himself and Seb. He sat down at the table and slumped back in his chair. He needed Seb to come back, he needed to know that everything would be okay between them going forward.
