Chapter Text

“Johnny.”

“Mm?”

Johnny hovered his hand in the extreme cheese flavor chips bag. He had been enjoying the post-coital snack as his cute boyfriend Doyoung packed up to go study. The back of his button-up stuck out from… what was it called? The nerdy sweater thing. If there had been no cheese dust on his fingers, Johnny would’ve tucked it in.

“You know how our birthdays are close together, right?”

Johnny blinked. “They are?”

“Only eight days apart.” Doyoung chuckled. “And um…”

Doyoung’s pretty eyes cast onto the floor. The fingers on each hand came together to twiddle. It was the signature shyness that came over Johnny’s boyfriend when he was trying his best to communicate clearly.

“…Yes?” Johnny gave him an encouraging smile.

“Our birthdays are close to valentine’s day. I thought maybe we could celebrate everything together, at once. Just the two of us.” A nervous chuckle followed Doyoung’s words.

“Sounds good to me.”

What was better than a day full of Doyoung? Johnny couldn’t imagine anything greater than that. Except maybe landing a new skateboard trick. And a large quadruple cheese pizza from his favorite joint.

“Okay,” Doyoung said quietly, but there was an undeniable grin on his face. He toed towards Johnny to press a kiss to his lips.

Doyoung was a fool to think he’d be satisfied with just that! Johnny palmed his butt on instinct and pulled him closer, plunging his tongue in for a quick taste. The soft flesh of Doyoung’s small butt welcomed his squeeze and Johnny couldn’t resist tucking the shirt in. When Doyoung retracted from the kiss with soft eyes, Johnny realized something.

“Oh shit,” he swore, lowering his hand.

“What?”

“I got cheese dust on your ass,” he confessed apologetically. “Sorry Doie.”

Doyoung’s wide eyes then crinkled with a laugh. “Don’t worry about it.”

Another peck between them before Doyoung attempted to wipe off the dust, but a clear print of Johnny’s fingers remained stained in neon orange. When Doyoung headed out, handprint and all, Johnny sighed to himself, recounting how lucky he was to have someone who put up with his stupidity.

Hanging out by the picnic bench was the glue that held Johnny’s core friendships together. Even in late January. Johnny attempted kickflips on his skateboard to stay warm in his hoodie and baggy jeans, while Mark blew into his fist, not just to heat his palms but to keep his joint from going out.

“Where the hell is everybody?” Mark asked, shivering.

“Dunno.” Johnny’s skateboard clacked on the curb of the grassy area.  “I think Jaehyun and Taeyong have exams. Yuta said it was too cold.”

Glue was less effective in lower temperatures, apparently.

“He’s right. When you can’t even light a doobie, it’s too damn cold.” Mark shook his head. “It’s a shame we can’t smoke at the dorm anymore.”

Johnny snorted, hitching up his skateboard on one side and flipping it under his arm. He took his place next to Mark on the picnic bench and assisted him in keeping the wind out of their stubby little joint.

“We weren’t really supposed to do that in the first place, you know.” Johnny said. The dorm head had caught them when he sighted smoke clouds coming from Mark’s window one chilly December morning. It had been an amateur mistake, honestly.

“Yeah, yeah. I know.”

Mark chuckled.

“What?” Johnny inquired.

Mark took a hit from the joint and faced Johnny with a smirk. “You sound like Doyoung.”

Did he? Doyoung was one for pointing out rules. It was cute when the line between his brows appeared and recited law like he was on the stand.

“Well, people in a relationship infect each other.” Johnny shrugged. It made him happy to have taken something over from Doyoung. His boyfriend was responsible and succeeded in a lot of things where Johnny failed, so it had to be a good thing. “We’re gonna celebrate our birthdays and valentine’s day together on one day since they’re so close together.”

“Damn, Johnny. You’re such a romantic.” Mark elbowed him, impressed. “I would’ve never thought of that.”

“That’s because you don’t have a relationship.” Johnny conveniently left out it was his boyfriend’s idea.

“Hey, I’m working on that! It’s hard maintaining sick skateboarding talent and top-tier rolling skills as it is.” Mark shook his head. “What are you getting him?”

Johnny stared owlishly at his friend. “What do you mean?”

“As a gift.”

“A gift? Isn’t good sex enough?”

“Bro.” Mark actually paused to give Johnny a deadpan stare. “You have to give him something nice.”

Something nice. Johnny scratched his head.

“Like what? A cake or something?”

“You could get him a cake but something personal would be better. Like I don’t know, something that reminds you of him. Or something he mentioned he wanted. Maybe something that’s like an inside joke.”

Johnny was at a loss. He gave his friend an incredulous look.

“Right. I forgot you are shit at gift giving.” Mark chuckled and continued to light his joint. “The dragon ashtray was dope though, but I don’t think Doyoung would appreciate that.”

It was true. Johnny was clueless when it came to giving gifts. He preferred building connections to the materialistic, but if Doyoung expected it…

“You really think I have to give him a gift?” Johnny inquired.

“Aren’t you gonna feel bad if he gives you something nice and you don’t give anything in return?”

Hmm. Mark did have a point. He couldn’t come in empty-handed and announce that his dick was the present – though he had done it before, with success. It was clear Doyoung wanted it to be a special occasion, so maybe some special attention was required.

“So what do you think I should get him?” Johnny asked again.

Mark raised his arms. “I don’t know, man. He’s your boyfriend.”

“True, true.” Johnny nodded.

And like that, the joy of simply spending an entire day with just the two of them became a source of stress. He’d never really given Doyoung a gift before or the other way around. Most of his budget was spent on pizza delivery and weed. It was going to be a difficult puzzle to solve.

“You think he wants me to dress nice too?”

Mark huffed, lowering his joint in annoyance. “Bro, just figure out something nice first!”

Johnny skated downtown for his mission. During the day, it was surprisingly busy and he had to maneuver his skateboard tricks around the throngs of people crowding the sidewalks. Johnny apologized to a lady in heels he nearly crashed into and hopped off his skateboard. Maybe it was safer to walk. At night, when Johnny went to get weed at the train overpass, these same streets were almost deserted.

But he was not here to get some funny lettuce. He was here to get his boyfriend a nice gift.

The fraying hem of his skater jeans absorbed the brown water from sidewalk puddles and a tiny drop tail of sludge soon followed as he found himself in front of a jewelry store. A bracelet, a necklace or a ring – that was considered a traditional ‘nice gift’, right?

Johnny headed inside. Classical music played and only a handful of guarded displays flanked the store. Johnny wedged his skateboard closer under his armpit and scanned the jewelry for something that fit Doyoung.

Coming to think of it, he’d never seen Doyoung wear anything sparkly. Would it even suit him?

Then Johnny’s eyes befell on a mannequin stomach with a thin dotted, silver chain wrapped around. Damn. Now that would suit Doyoung. Something sexy. Johnny’s mind wandered as he dreamed of wrapping such a delicate thing around Doyoung’s tiny, naked waist. Shit. The more he thought about it, the better the idea became.

“Can I help you, Sir?” One of the store employees helped Johnny out of his fantasy.

“Yeah,” he grinned. “How much is that thing? I wanna buy it for my boyfriend.”

The lady smiled. “The belly chain? It makes an excellent romantic gift. That particular piece costs three hundred-thousand won.”

“Oh shit. I’m sorry, miss, but that’s a little out of my price range. Thank you for the help, though.”

The employee flashed a smile and Johnny turned on his heel and left. Once outside the store, he heaved a deep breath. He needed a break from this stressful ordeal.

After scoring a cheap deli sandwich and landing an ollie, Johnny decided to try his luck again. First, he went into a socks store. It was winter and Doyoung needed to keep his toes warm, he reasoned. Then he realized he had no idea what Doyoung’s foot size was. Secondly, he tried his luck at a gift store. It stocked an amazing number of artificial roses, made out of chocolate, beads or other intricate material, but once again it was outside of Johnny’s price range. On the third and final stop, Johnny went into a bookstore. At the art and history section, he flipped rustled a handful of books, but then remembered Doyoung worked at the library. And Johnny had no idea which books he already owned or had read. The choice anxiety made him dash out of the store.

What a challenge it was. Johnny bought another sandwich at the same deli and found an abandoned construction site to eat in peace. While he sat on a broken wall, his skateboard glid side to side under his feet. New ideas were nowhere to be found. His head was empty.

The sandwich tasted less satisfactory the second time around. Maybe it was the discouragement clouding his taste buds. What else could it be? It wasn’t the extra cheese, that was for sure.

With a drooping head, Johnny began the trail back to campus.

Like a gift from the heavens, a store with a bold, bright sign on the edge of downtown caught his eye. A toy store. In the window display stood a package for Toxic Slime, with its barrel wrapped in plastic and an evaporated font.

“Oh shit,” Johnny swore. He loved Toxic Slime!

Maybe today had been a failure in his quest to find Doyoung a gift, but at least he could cheer himself up. Nothing a gooey substance which kept your hands occupied for hours.

He barged into the store and immediately scanned all the loud and brash packaging for his green friend. Snatching the Toxic Slime off the hanger, another item next to it clattered on the ground.

Johnny picked it up, and his eyes grew wide at what was in his hands.

The perfect gift for Doyoung!

Johnny fervently knocked on Jaehyun’s door. When there was no reply, he knocked even louder.

“Yeah, yeah! Give me a second!” An annoyed voice came from inside.

Jaehyun opened the door with a grumble, but was surprised to see Johnny.

“Hey man,” Johnny greeted, fist-bumping his friend. He let himself in and found Taeyong at Jaehyun’s desk. He greeted his ex with a gentle pat to the shoulder. “You guys busy?”

“We’re kind of studying,” Jaehyun answered, scratching his head.

“Is this the emergency you texted Jaehyun about?” Taeyong inquired, raising an eyebrow.

“Yes, it is.” Johnny answered seriously.

“This better not be the type of emergency where you signed up for a class you were never gonna pass but signed up for because it sounded fun.” Jaehyun crossed his arms.

“Don’t worry, it’s nothing like that.” Johnny assured them, quietly wondering if the class thing was something that really did happen more often. “I need to borrow one of your accountant outfits.”

Taeyong burst out laughing while Jaehyun heaved a deep sigh.

“Johnny.” He started off sternly. “Do you remember the last time I let you borrow one of my button-ups?”

“It was an accident.”

“You eating cheese chips is not an accident. You do that every day! Sorry, but it’s not happening.” Jaehyun shook his head and it flowed desperation into Johnny.

“Aww, please?” Johnny folded his hands together and inched closer to his friend. “This is really important to me.”

“What do you need it for?” Taeyong asked.

“Doyoung had this great idea to combine both of our birthdays and valentine’s day into one day and spend it together, so I need to look nice.” Johnny explained matter-of-factly, but he dipped his voice into a little bit of sadness just to gather any sympathy he could get.

Taeyong was taken aback. “Oh, are you going out for dinner?”

Johnny blinked.

“You think we should?” He asked. He hadn’t thought of that. Another stressor entered his nervous system.

“Well, if you’re spending the entire day together, you have to eat dinner at some point.” Jaehyun pointed out.

“Oh, shit.” Johnny raked a frustrated hand through his hair. “Okay, maybe instead of ordering pizza I can take him to the pizza place.”

“Please don’t do that,” Taeyong immediately interrupted. “That is not romantic and not a place to wear Jaehyun’s professional clothes to.”

“He’s not going to borrow my clothes, pizza place or not.” Jaehyun quickly interjected.

“What am I supposed to do then? I can’t afford anything fancy.” Johnny became more desperate by the second. This whole birthday-valentine’s combo was cracking his brain wide open.

“Maybe you should cook his favorite food,” Taeyong suggested. He paused, pursed his lips, then continued: “Or something within your level of cooking skill.”

“He likes instant noodles,” Johnny pointed out.

“You were made for each other,” Jaehyun said dryly. “But maybe try that. Cook some actual noodles with veggies and stuff. Make it all look fancy with some sesame seeds.”

That wasn’t such a bad idea. He had years of experience boiling noodles at this point. Adding vegetables wouldn’t be so hard.

“Yes, I’ll try that.” Johnny nodded. “Great idea, thanks!”

“But you still can’t borrow my clothes.”

“Aw, come on Jaehyun! You know I don’t have anything nice in my closet. And Doyoung hates my skull print sweater.”

“He’s right, that hoodie is awful.” Taeyong whispered through his teeth. “I think you should let Johnny borrow a nice button-up, at the very least.”

Jaehyun guffawed. “How about you sacrifice some of your clothes, Tae?”

“He doesn’t fit my stuff,” Taeyong reasoned. It was true. Johnny had stretched the seams one of his nicer crewnecks back when they dated.

Jaehyun dragged a hand over his face and sighed.

“Fine. But it’s going to the dry cleaners before you return it.”

Johnny jumped a hole into the air from happiness and spun his friend into a hug.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Jaehyun already seemed to regret his decision, but Johnny spied a hint of a smile in the corners of his mouth. What a relief. Now almost everything was ready for the perfect day.

“Do I have to bring it to the dry cleaners even if it’s not dirty?”

“Yes,” Jaehyun and Taeyong echoed in unison.

There was a gentle knock on the door a little past twelve. Johnny jumped, quickly combed his hair with his fingers and ran to open up. With a sheepish smile, he faced his boyfriend.

“Johnny…” Doyoung’s eyes widened.

Although Doyoung’s outfit was nothing out of the regular, just a pair of slim fitted slacks, a turtle neck and a beige cardigan, Johnny immediately knew he had to taste his boyfriend. He arched down to catch his small, soft lips in a kiss.

“Hi.”

“You look so different,” Doyoung commented, raking his gaze over Johnny’s body.

“I wanted to look nice for you,” Johnny said. It was a little embarrassing to be scrutinized so openly, but if Doyoung liked it then it was alright.

He’d combed his hair back with some gel he borrowed from Yuta, who then told him he looked like a yakuza and styled his hair back properly with a couple of playful locks framing his face. Of course, the white dress shirt from Jaehyun was also working its magic. Paired with his cleanest pair of baggy jeans, he could almost go on a job interview.

A smile curled Doyoung’s lips and he straightened the collar on Johnny’s dress shirt.

“You look nice,” he expressed softly.

“Thanks.” Johnny couldn’t resist. Doyoung was too attractive when he smiled and took care of the finer details. He leaned down to kiss him again. “So, you ready for dinner?”

“Dinner?” Doyoung blinked at him. Maybe twelve in the afternoon was a bit early for dinner.

“Well, not to toot my own horn but I cooked something for you.” Johnny scratched behind his head, remembered his locks were supposed to stay down, and quickly flattened the hair with his fingers. He flashed his stunned boyfriend a grin.

“What’d you make?” Doyoung asked.

Johnny took him by the shoulders. “Please, come to the table if you will.”

Johnny led his boyfriend to his desk, which he had cleared and turned a quarter so there were two ends. He’d grabbed an extra plastic chair from Mark’s place and stole a pillow too. An old scarf made for a tablecloth and the two bowls on each side of the table were covered with mysterious foil.

Doyoung quietly took place, his almond-shaped eyes still wide.

Carefully, Johnny removed the foil.

“I made your favorite, instant noodles. But with a few special highlights: a boiled egg and a boiled carrot, topped with spring onion and black sesame seeds.” Johnny said it proudly. And proud he was! This was the most nutritious thing he’d ever cooked!

Doyoung grabbed the spoon and stirred through his bowl. “Wow… Johnny… I don’t know what to say. This is all so sweet.”

The soft pink on Doyoung’s cheeks along with his struck tone surged happiness through Johnny’s heart. The mission was running on a great course so far! He grinned and took a seat, spooning through the noodle brine. Now the only thing left to do was to floor Doyoung with the presents he’d bought.

Doyoung’s legs curled into Johnny’s underneath the table and their eyes met at the exact same time, causing them both to laugh.

“Happy birthday to us,” Johnny toasted, opening a can of cream soda and raising it high.

“To us and valentine’s day,” Doyoung added, clinking their cans.

Towards the end of midday dinner, Johnny subtly retrieved two wrapped gifts from under his duvet. He slid it over the table with a grin.

“What’s this?” Doyoung asked, eyebrows shot up high into his bangs.

“Two gifts for you,” Johnny said with a puffed-out chest.

Doyoung chin dipped into his chest, his shy habit making itself known. With precise fingers, Doyoung picked up the tall and thin gift, scratching the scotch tape off slowly. Johnny couldn’t hold his laughter when Doyoung was too stunned to even react.

The gift was a plastic rose; stem, thorns and all.

“This one is for valentine’s day. The other one is for your birthday.” Johnny explained it coolly. After seeing those beautiful roses made of beads and chocolate at that store, he couldn’t let it go. He caved and went back to get the cheapest one, which was a regular plastic rose.

Doyoung’s shy smile expanded as he pretended to sniff the rose, then hugged it to his chest.

“Thank you,” he said softly.

“Come on, open the other one.” Johnny twitched in his seat. He desperately wanted to see Doyoung’s reaction to the most awesome gift of his life.

Doyoung, careful as always, took his merry time scratching the scotch tape off and unwrapped the paper as if he was planning on using it again. With wide eyes, he scanned the plastic box in front of him.

Egyptian Excavation: dig up artifacts from a lost kingdom...” Doyoung read it off the box. Johnny’s heart thumped with anticipation as he waited for Doyoung to express his thoughts.

As he remained silent, Johnny took it upon himself to elaborate. “You can dig up a sarcophagus in that rock, isn’t that sick? They had dinos too, but I know you’re more of a human stuff type of guy.”

Doyoung’s stare was blank for a few seconds more before he broke out in laughter. His eyes were actually crinkled with joy, and he rose from his seat to loop his arms around Johnny’s neck and press a kiss to his lips.

“This is so sweet. I don’t know what to say. Thank you.” Johnny’s lips were caught by Doyoung’s again before he calmly made his way back to the plastic chair, staring at the excavation toy. “It even comes with a little brush. How cute.”

Johnny’s chest swelled with pride. “I knew you would love it.”

Doyoung grinned at him again. “I wasn’t expecting this at all. I… I didn’t know we were doing gifts.”

“Oh…” Johnny muttered.

Doyoung’s mouth downturned sadly. “I feel bad, I didn’t get you anything at all. To be honest, I thought we were just gonna have sex all day.”

“Oh…” Johnny repeated. His chest tickled and he couldn’t hold in a laugh.

Doyoung gave him a deer-in-the-headlights look. “What?”

“Well, you see. I thought the same thing. When I told Mark he said I should buy you something. So I started freaking out and thought you were expecting some grand gesture. For the past week I’ve been running around getting things in order.”

Doyoung’s mouth fell open. “Now I feel even worse.”

“No! No, Doie, it’s okay. If I wasn’t sure, I should’ve just asked. Simple communication error. Don’t worry about it, it was worth it to see you smile.” Johnny encased Doyoung’s hands in his and softly slighted his lips over Doyoung’s thumb.

Doyoung’s head dipped with his smile again. “Okay, if you say so.”

Shit, his boyfriend was too cute. Johnny couldn’t help himself.

“But you know, about the sex thing… we can still do that.”

“Yeah?” Doyoung answered with a hitch of breath.

“Yeah. Get undressed.”

---

Doyoung was the sexiest person in the world, Johnny was sure of it. His skin was a snowy plane that stretched for miles on end, accentuated by the pink tones of his nipples and mouth. The stretch of his shoulders was wide, which only served to emphasize how little his waist was, and how perfectly it could be gathered between Johnny’s hands. So, he did just that.

The way his body looked was unchanging, but his expressions were another story. Doyoung came across shy in words and face, but once he was met with pleasure the guarded nature melted away. Just a kiss turned his eyes into half-lidded seduction. Fingers dancing along his waistline had his mouth falling slightly open, revealing the even pinker insides of his mouth, wet heat which Johnny fantasized about when he was supposed to be doing other things.

“Johnny… you’re going too slow.” Doyoung whispered. His hips were rutting up desperately.

“We have all day,” Johnny countered. He wanted to take the time to explore Doyoung’s body as if he hadn’t before.

“But I want it.” Doyoung’s eyebrows drew together in the most adorable frown.

Johnny squeezed his waist with a sigh. “Fine.”

Another way Doyoung’s expression would change if Johnny breached his hole, be it with fingers or cock. That same angry frown hiked up higher, becoming desperate, and his lips tutted, as if the vibration of Johnny’s fingers zinged all the way to his mouth. Just a thrust from two fingers and Doyoung’s mouth dropped, airing out a tiny little whine that let Johnny know he wanted it just a little bit harder and faster today.

Doyoung’s eyes twinkled at him wantonly from where he was spread on the mattress. Johnny decided going slow really wasn’t in the cards today.

By the time Doyoung was open and ready for him, Johnny’s erection throbbed with need. With his large hands, he cupped the small of Doyoung’s butt, squeezed a handful of that delicious flesh and lined the head of his cock to his lubed hole. He rubbed the head against the pucker, shuddering when it shot heat through his loins, and pressed forward.

Shy, soft-spoken Kim Doyoung completely disappeared when he was fucked right. Once his tight heat sucked Johnny’s cock in the deepest it could go, coating Johnny’s most sensitive spots with his fleshy insides, his eyes screwed shut and his mouth sprouted the obscenest moans. It tore Johnny between plugging him with his fingers or tongue.

Seeing Doyoung completely blissed out from his cock was enough for Johnny, but there was no denying his wet hole rubbed him in all the right ways. Doyoung scrambled at his shoulders when it became too deep, too much, but Johnny needed it deeper, more.

Doyoung was sexiest just before he came. When Johnny would fist his cock, his lashes fluttered, tears gathered in the corners of his eyes and his body began to twitch. His rhythmic moans became a desperate dragged-out whine, and when he would gasp “I can’t, I can’t”, Johnny went harder, thrusted deeper, until Doyoung stuttered in his body, his throat, painting their bodies and the bed with release.

His hole clenched desperately, which sent a shockwave through Johnny. It was delirious when Doyoung’s hole squeezed him until he was filling him with his own release, unable to help his deep, guttural groan.

He collapsed onto Doyoung, catching his breath, while Doyoung was mewling under him, overly sensitive.

“Fuck, Doie, you were right.”

“About what?” Doyoung asked groggily, embracing Johnny tightly.

“About going slow.”

Doyoung laughed and his melodic sound caused Johnny to mirror him. Johnny revised his thoughts. Maybe Doyoung was sexiest when he laughed.
