Work Text:

Tom Riddle looked at the people around him.

They were so… simple. They didn't understand how the world worked, the reason why they could have lived their life.

They were so naive, in their ignorance.

Tom had pity for them.

He, on the other hand, had always known how to gain power.

His father was a coward and his mother a pathetic little girl, obsessed with someone who would never love her.

And that left Tom alone since his birth.

And thanks for that, Tom had the chance to understand the dynamics in the world.

He had the chance to discover his abilities on persuading the others, on manipulating the others.

And, at only twenty years old, Tom Riddle was the most important boss in all of England.

No one else could compared to him, not even Grindelwald, a stupid man who lost everything because of love.

Tom won't make the same mistake.

Never.

At that moment, he was waiting for his followers to make a deal with one of the other little gangs in London.

He didn't care about them, but making them believe to have some sort of power always made him feel better.

He raised his gaze to see a black car coming in his direction.

In a matter of seconds, the shop behind him exploded because the shots were made, while Tom himself was dragged to the ground.

"Watch out!"

Tom looked at the boy who had saved his life.

Now, that boy had done an important favor to him.
Tom couldn't just kill him.

And, looking at him, Tom didn't want to.

Bright green eyes, messy raven hair, tanned skin.

The boy in front of him was an absolute delight.

Tom's plans changed from killing the boy to keeping him.

"You saved my life. Thank you." Tom inclined his head in sign of respect, but all his ponderate gestures were lost on the other.

"It… I mean, it was the right thing to do? Well, I couldn't leave you to die. It would be wrong."

Tom had never had the problem to leave someone to die, or to kill him in the first place, but the other's goodness was something refreshing.

"I didn't catch your name." Tom said and the other smiled. "Harry Potter. It's a pleasure to meet you…?"

"Tom Riddle." Tom smiled.

"Tom, then." Harry smiled back and Tom allowed him to use his first name.

No other people could use that name, Tom would have killed all of them before the last letter could leave their lips.

But, Harry's voice made the name seem sweet, beautiful in some ways.

"Then, Harry." Tom smiled, proud when he saw Harry's cheeks blushing, "do you have anything to do, now? I would love to thank you in a more proper way."

Harry shook his head. "There is no need for thanking me, really."

"I insist."

"Then, no, I have nothing to do, right now." Harry smiled. "I am totally free for you!"

Tom smiled.

Harry Potter was something he would love to keep.

And, now, he had all the chances to do what he wanted.
