Chapter Text
Louie was helping Uncle Donald in the kitchen, standing on a stepstool while stirring the pot of chili as Donald cut veggies to put in it. Louie sighed, it was hard to hide this from his uncle when he so dearly wanted to physically show he was a boy.
“What’s wrong Llewellyn?” Donald beat him to it, along with that stupid name. Louie looked up from the pot towards his uncle, who had ceased chopping for a moment.
“I don’t wanna go by Llewellyn anymore,” he stirred the pot a little faster, tapping his foot quickly on his stepstool as tears started to form in his eyes.
“Okay, what do you wanna go by?” The question was sweet, said with no malice.
“Louie,” Now he was full-on crying.
“It’s okay, Louie,” Donald said, and he set down the knife and walked over to hug his niece nephew.
Louie sobbed in his arms, and when his brothers heard the crying, they ran in to join the hug too.
“We love you, Louie, just the way you are.”
